While I didn't love this, I appreciate him going to different places with the song and solo rather than simply trying to replicate it. Without speaking for the man, I think Neil would have also appreciated the effort of bringing yourself into the song rather than simply playing what he did.
People seem to forget how much a talent Ray is...plus he's really fun to watch live, one of the most animated and physical drummers Ive ever watched..call it inefficient, I'll call it fun.
Noticing that he sits back a way from the set. It's unique in that a lot of drummers sit closer with the snare almost at their stomach. With Ray the snare looks to be about 10 inches away.
Neil would approve! Not "Neil" but "Neil-like" which was cool rather than going completely off the rails different. Very TRIBUTE- like rather than being something that Neil would never do. While Neil never played it....you COULD imagine him playing it or something close which is really cool. A lot of times it just turns into something completely different rather than a tribute.
I love how Ray interprets it as "here's what I think Neil would do".....rather than "here's how Ray would play it". Of course it's Ray playing it....but I love that his interpretation reflects the original rather than making it completely different.
I remember right around when untouchables came out, I saw a video of him warming up before a show and was fucking blown away. I had no idea he was THAT talented. Great fucking solo
Im not a big fan of his work with Korn, but men...the solo, and the rush patterns, are really great. It's like a revisited version of Neil., sound great.
It's always amusing to me how I can watch a drum vid of Ray and people praise his abilities, yet you watch a live video of a Korn performance and all the fanboys (typically non-musical idiots) are criticizing him left and right. Fucking blasphemy! Although I do like Korn, especially with Ray in the band; this stuff is WAY more technical than anything he plays in Korn! Ray plays it better then Peart can play it today!
He is not struggling AT all lmao. If anything, this set up is probably very foreign to him, but he handles it like a pro. Ray is a beast. He can play anything Peart played and then some...can't say it the other way around...and Neil would say so himself.
Interesting fact: If you read the lyric sheet, Neil wrote "If you still choose not to decide you cannot have made a choice". Ged apparently disagreed with that. When asked about the "typo", Neil assured the interviewer that their lyric sheets are checked thoroughly for accuracy.
@@quadzmotooffroad2904 actually I do understand how audio works. Sounds like you have some understanding of it too as you commented on the room sound, but you realize this is a video right? We aren’t in the room.....and the sound has nothing to do with the overplaying. JMO.
One of the world’s most underrated drummers. Ray Luzier is a beast! 🔥🔥🔥
Ray is a stellar drummer!
One of the best in the world
The Professor would be proud of this.
Wow Wow Wow. Ray is a beast behind the kit. He payed Neil justice.
Ray is sooo underrated...
One of the best in the world
While I didn't love this, I appreciate him going to different places with the song and solo rather than simply trying to replicate it. Without speaking for the man, I think Neil would have also appreciated the effort of bringing yourself into the song rather than simply playing what he did.
Just when I think Ray couldnt mesmerize me more with how phuckin great he is......HE DOES!!!! Sweet Jesus the man is a MONSTER!!!!!!!!!
People seem to forget how much a talent Ray is...plus he's really fun to watch live, one of the most animated and physical drummers Ive ever watched..call it inefficient, I'll call it fun.
He credits David Lee Roth for pushing him to HAM IT UP!!!!!
Holy Cow, Ray is from another planet.... Love his energy and intelligence on the kit
Very cool interpretation of Neil Peart, astonishing!
dayum that snare sound so good.
I love this drummer. So creative and talented.Great tribute.
Still watch this all the time!
Wow Ray what a beast you are.The professor is smiling down on you!
Love that red set. Cool how he sticks to the general way Neil did it but adds his own little tweaks throughout.
Incredible
Simplesmente sensacional como sempre, grande Ray Luzier!!!
This guy is amazing!
Forgot what a beast Ray is.
alot of "drum fans" sleep on this guy.
He's one of the best in the world
This guy is an excellent drummer !!!
Hell yeah!! You are the man Ray!! 🎶❤️🎶
Best I've ever seen or heard awesome
I have been pushing this guy for15 years from Army of anyone.
Ray is a top 3 drummer. My number 1!!!
That solo is pretty badass!! Freaking awesome jam!!
Dude is tearin it up!
Thanks a lot! I thought I was done crying! But seriously, thank you. I can tell you are a true fan...
Noticing that he sits back a way from the set. It's unique in that a lot of drummers sit closer with the snare almost at their stomach. With Ray the snare looks to be about 10 inches away.
Ray is the man
Ray is just awesome
Still love this video!!
Ray is awesome!! Really did a nice job in tribute to Rush and Neil!!
DAMMMMNNN! Ray just laid it down! Bravo!!!!!
Love ya, Ray!!!😎👍
Legit, all the way around. I was looking for it but couldn't find the info, anybody know who he was playing with?
You beat me to it. Awesome drummer
Very rarely will I see a drummer utilize his left hand the way Ray does. What a beast.
Wow! Great drummer, really great. Only heard about him recently.
He's one of the best in the world
LUZIER!
love the comments about Ray! He is WHO he IS!!!!
Beast!
Really liked the drum solo. Inspired by Neil Peart. Ray makes it his own.
What!! #RayLuzier is sick!!
Ray is a beast.Damn.
i would love to hear and see Ray using paiste on korn
Never heart a Sabian that sounded great
Zildjian... best cymbal made
Wuhan; yes I said it.
that solo was badass

Damn...the way Ray can switch from right to left hand lead and back makes me want to lay down my sticks.
WHOOOOOOOOO !
dang!
That was fuckin awesome!
RAY IS BAD ASS!!!!
I remember right around when untouchables came out, I saw a video of him warming up before a show and was fucking blown away. I had no idea he was THAT talented. Great fucking solo
luzier!!👏👏👏
if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice!
Bravo Ray!!!! G** D**n what energy!
Ray is da man ... oh my God ...
Jesus big claim but Ray could play with Rush for real if they ever played again!!
Ray is a killer drummer! One of the greats. You see Brian Tichy back there checking out what Ray was playing? lol. Drum lords
Ray sounds great…….
Can you imagine if this guy sat in and played your drums one night? You would never play drums again.
Oh yurr
🤘🥁🤘
awesome performance! Anyone know what kind of chinas those are?
+BackBurner899 Paiste 2002 Chinas most likely.
His groove is...
They're all using the same kit!?...
That snare 🤑
His set up is pretty close to Neil's 1976-1981 set up. What a great drummer.
significantly better than Jason bittner's solo
Bittners overrated as fuck
This sounds like rush...This needs to be a thing.
Im not a big fan of his work with Korn, but men...the solo, and the rush patterns, are really great. It's like a revisited version of Neil., sound great.
Neil Peart is so honored by Ray playing his beat...!
MetalSkinz Ray excels more in this kind of situation. Korn songs are just his warm up songs. LOL.
jump to the solo: 3:06
where is SABIAN????
but can he play lars drum parts? haha, may have got him on that one....
lars est à 200 niveau en dessous ahahahahaha niveau maternelle
Lars can't play Lars parts... and also, who would want to. Lars sucks
He could he lars alive look at his studio work much better attitude than lars lars could take lessons from ray
100%
I'm surprised the Korn guys were cool with Ray wanting to throw in a Rush cover.😏
ray luzier eats the drums for breakast. lunch. dinner.
well even thoe i think ray is the best drummer out there, neil has a way to play rush music
Ray flubs it, beginning at 7:18.
He prolly only rehearsed it like 2 or 3 times... so all things considered.... still awesome
this kind of shows off how good peart actually is. I see this as ray struggling. Maybe he forgot to warm up lol
Alex Z I was thinking maybe he got stoned cuz he caught up to it the second half
He is not struggling AT all lmao. If anything, this set up is probably very foreign to him, but he handles it like a pro. Ray is a beast. He can play anything Peart played and then some...can't say it the other way around...and Neil would say so himself.
Good Lord where are they finding all these quadruplet crazed drummers. This must be a quadruplet seminar because that's all these solos consist of.
+apiece ofdirt it's a neil peart style solo... it fits
and they r fun as he'll buy difficult to play that clean and I love the way he uses them at least.
ray is an amazing teacher
Ray usando paiste :o
Interesting fact: If you read the lyric sheet, Neil wrote "If you still choose not to decide you cannot have made a choice". Ged apparently disagreed with that. When asked about the "typo", Neil assured the interviewer that their lyric sheets are checked thoroughly for accuracy.
The correct lyrics are:
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
@@israeljimenez5816 Not according to the author.
Vocalist is STRUGGLING.... 😂
dont show this to neil.
The crowd did not deserve that
This really is great and shows how wasted he is in korn
You gotta be kidding...
The vocal sucked big time lol
No doubt... my ears are bleeding
Dude you're not supposed to one up the professor like that ! No wonder Neil said eff this I'm out
timing is bad at times - sorry
And absolute horrible rendition of the original song. He was so hyped up in his moment he missed virtually every note
Wouldn't think of anyone else to even come close to Neil..
this is the shi*
Ew tryna be like a modern drummer festival drum solo and it was not good
What is "tryna???"
Neil's version is much more musical and fits much better. Overpowered and overplayed IMO.
It was room drum audio from a camera behind the kit... yea.. I guess you don't understand how audio works... it sounded perfect from the audience
@@quadzmotooffroad2904 actually I do understand how audio works. Sounds like you have some understanding of it too as you commented on the room sound, but you realize this is a video right? We aren’t in the room.....and the sound has nothing to do with the overplaying. JMO.
So so over rated
🤘🥁🤘
If your going to play Rush at least play it right. How crappy
