underneath is Replication. It doesn't work for my case. One of SQL I managed is 10 TB single DB with several custom table/column types, binding schema and foreign keys.
@@theeye6859 I did and they recommended to do traditional backup and restore by using RDS restore stored procedure instead. We ran POC and confirmed it won't work.

Try to check the security group permmissions to this database also if the vpc that your Ec2 belongs has private access to the database vpc/subnet
