- I learned this shortly after it came out in 1984 (has it really been 33 years!?), but hadn't played it much since. I got a request from customer to do a teaching video on it, so I scraped the rust off of my hands and polished it back up. A great tune!
The Introduction: an extraordinary moment in Steve's extraordinarily brilliant career. When I add up all of Steve's skills as a virtuoso guitarist across multiple styles, as a composer, as an arranger, as a producer, as a live performer and as a teacher, I'm hard-pressed to think of anyone who compares. Sure, a lot of guys can do one of those things well, but very, very few have Steve's amazing skill set.
Hear Hear! I echo every word. The bonus is that his humanity is of equal quality with huis musicianship and artistry.

First heard this on a flexi-disc on a mag cover (Guitar Player?) and was astounded by the transcription (32nd notes?!) and thought it was a marvellous melody/tune/whatever. I remember going out and buying the album later that week. Awesome. I still have the flexi disc too.

Thank you. This is just incredible. One my favorite Morse tunes. I read that Morse was a fan of Shawn Lane's version, but I don't think he's listened yours yet. Just spot on, man.

Funny story - when I moved to Nashville in 1998 and began touring with country artists, one of the first drummers I worked with, Steve Ebe, was the drummer with Shawn on his version of The Introduction. Steve may have heard mine, as we have a mutual friend in NightRanger guitarist, Jeff Watson, who has told me he plays Steve some of my things from time to time. I've opened for his band and The Dregs several times over the years, so he knows that I've appreciated and learned a lot of his stuff. :-)

Do you have the transcription for this entire song? I know how to play all the main parts and the solo, but I have never seen the full sheet music done by anyone with the correct bass line and correct time signature changes. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. :)
