Update : on 2nd march 2022, hyundai updated i20, now you will get sunroof and cruise control in asta variant. so, now it's more value for money than baleno.

Altroz (TATA) engine lack refinement, has vibration at low rpm and engine noise compared to (hyundai,honda,ford, maruthy).

No doubt nowadays Baleno could be a good choice but new i20 interior is more premium than Baleno because the has been made on European car design platform and inspired from famous German brand BMW. In other hand Baleno is made for india only. I have i20 Asta 1 L turbo gdi, the engine is just awesome.

New baleno made with high strength steel so & Maruti resale value, less maintainence, engine reliability.which makes baleno, better.
I bought new Baleno Alpha and my first maintenance charges cost more than 10k. So pls dont say less maintenance.
Its such a light weight car and I am planning to resell it. 360 camera hangs more than 50% of times and HUD doesn't open even after 3-4 press buttons. Pathetic car with no value at all.

@@allrounder6651 I know bhai and I already spoke with dealer. They told me that during my first service they will correct all issues and this is why they charged me so much and told me everything is good now. Again after 10 days all the issues have started to appear again.
Now dealer is rejecting my claim and say everything is working good. I even complained to Maruti but no response as of now.
I am really fed up as I can't afford to spend so much time on just a car. Really disappointed with Maruti and Baleno.😔

Which one do you prefer for new or first time owners?
both are fine for first time owner, but it's all upto ur requirements. if you want premium interior quality and more space, i20 is better. and if you want better value for money, fuel average and better engine power, then baleno is better. you could also test drive both n see which one u like.
Don't forget maintainence cost .baleno is pretty cheap to maintain.than hundai
it's somehow true...but nowadays maruti is also charging high service cost compared to past...i have seen many customers complaining about that..so we didnt mention it as service cost between both cars will be very minor. but yeah, baleno will give you best resell value.
