  • There are a few names for this sweep (we had called it the Aarmyle and guys over at lockflow call it "capt Hook". Eddie said "we call that the Asylum at Legends gym. So, in order to TRY and keep the names consistent with 10PJJ HQ, here it is: the Asylym

    That is one of the sickest moves I've seen in a long time!
    Great stuff!

    Interesting, i like the way it sets up the arm bar - if defended - gaining dominant position seems easier enough from there.
    I liked the slo-mo shot at the beginning, that was very helpful.
    Keep up the awesome videos. 5*s.

    This is part of a whole sweep system i've seen eddie do and i've fallen in love with - which involve using your foot behind his back from guard or whatever and hooking the arm. If you do it fast and confidently it leaves people with a puzzled look on their face as you take mount or their arm

    great technique, ill try it asap. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming.

    Nice move.
    To finish you can also put the "sweeping" leg on guy's throat and go for gogoplata from the side or mount.
    Cheers

    i think rubber guard is better for mma than pure grappling.

  • @Submissions101
    @Submissions101  16 ปีที่แล้ว

    The only way to know is start playing around with the system. ALL jiu jitsu is molded to our specific body types. That is why it is such a wonderful art. If one thing doesn't work for you, you can tweak it and do something else. There is no ONE way to do something (although many would make you believe this is so). Find your path and develop YOUR game...you'll be better off for it.

    This is a really cool and interesting technique, but I'm curious, if I'm that close to a triangle, why not just go for the triangle?

  • @rangedat
    @rangedat 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @predator101101 i don't think they have any 10planetjj's in Ireland. Yeah it CAN be bad for your knees if you aren't flexible. As long as you are flexible enough to do it, it shouldn't affect your knees. If you're not flexible and you're constantly torquing your knees, it can have effects on your knees

  • @Pauly2Bags
    @Pauly2Bags 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have something called articulated hips which basically means I am double jointed in the hips, so I have great natural flexibility. The problem is that I have really short legs. I have only been training jiu-jitsu for about 5 months and I am wondering if the rubber guard is practical for s short legged guy like me?

  • @rangedat
    @rangedat 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    when you're at the position @ 2:26, couldn't you just throw the leg thats on his hip over your foot and get a triangle?

  • @dalhousie44
    @dalhousie44 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not just go for the triangle, your left knee is basically in front of his right shoulder, so why not just pop it over and go for a finish?

    this sweep is amazing in theory and has so many ways to attack from it(even my favourite move, triangles from full mount) but i was wondering(as i dont practise 10th planet myself) whats the percentage roughly on this working? also are there any 10th planet clubs in the northern ireland area? and lastly, i've heard some bad things about the 10th planet system(i.e. its very rough on the knee's) could you shed any light on this for me please?

  • @mmafighter151

    HOLY CRAP!!!!! this sweep is golden.. ive never been introduced to this sweep ever until last night i watched this video and i was planning on trying it in rolling today and i did it seccesfully in kids, adult and advanced no gi! (im a green belt under brian mclaughlin)
    anyway thanks and it works really efficently if a gogo plata is attempted first... new favorite sweep!!!
    thanks!!!

    @WingdPuma 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    If your foot cant get to the arm, hip out (as in a triangle) away from the arm you wanted hooked and extend your leg towards the hook arm. Sometimes its a disadvantage to have shorter legs, but if you have short legs, and it gets locked (like any other move) it will be tighter and create more leverage to sweep

  • @sce05
    @sce05 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    It seems all you guys demonstrate now are moves from the rubber guard, what happend to the techniques you use to show. The rubber guard works great but its not the end all guard, please demonstrate some other techniques that dont require the rubber guard. Thanks.

    it seems like theres no leverage for pushing that arm up so you could hook it... im just saying it doesnt look easy, the leverage is against you, you trying to push his arm up from the bottom... i could be wrong, is it actually easy?

    in a number of videos you refer to your individual moves/positions (zombie, new york, mission control, kung fu move, etc) do you have these broken out somewhere in more detail?
