    Thank you for the background. By putting the book in the middle of historical real life events I was able to see more clearly how God continued to be faithful to man. I also note what Andrew Murray wrote about being careful not to mistake bible study for loving and seeking the true purpose of all these...our Lord God Jesus. Praise God and God bless you Mr. Mazzalonggo for doing this for us.

    These studies mean a lot to me! I’ve wondered what I could do in my life since I’m laid up with Cancer and Sjogrens Syndrome, I needed purpose! I’ve gotten my grown daughters reading the Bible together and a friend that is out of state and I share these videos with them as an integral part of our studies! Thank you!!!

    I first learned about your channel a few months ago...I've learned so much in such a short time. This is a gift to the body of Christ. I'm so grateful for your teachings and I plan to use them all. You even responded to a question I had, how generous, thoughtful and kind. May God bless you greatly for all your help to the body of Christ.

    great job on breaking down the complexities of Matthew's Gospel, Mike! it's really helpful for beginners. but honestly, I think sometimes we overemphasize the historical context and miss out on the personal application. It can be easy to get lost in the details instead of focusing on how it relates to our daily lives. what do you all think?

But we are under a spell for almost 2000 years that will not allowed that freely but God Elohim is moving and bring us into the the Light of just the Word without Christian’s theologians . Great job Sir. Very much appreciated .

    Learned a lot but people in faith who are still considered beginners should be careful watching, just remember the only book that is accurate and the truth is the Bible considering the faith. You can read other books like commentary's but please remember these are others opinions not inspired or written by God ok.

    • @bibletalktv
      @bibletalktv  6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Exactly! The Bible teacher’s job is to help others understand what the Scriptures are saying in context and how to apply them accurately today in one’s life. If there are errors, they are mine and a result of a forgiven yet still weak and sinful person’s attempt to discern God’s word accurately.

    he doubts that his grandchildren will still speak French because they have been here a couple of generations and are assimilated and speak English. And that seems like a perfectly logical normal assumption unless of course you come from and your family comes from Latin or Spanish speaking country such as Mexico Honduras Nicaragua El Salvador. for some reason those people although here for many generations still have not adopted English as their main language.

      A formal translation would be best but is extremely expensive considering the amount of material we have (almost 1000 videos). One other way to get this in Portuguese would be to turn on the English closed captions and then use Google translation to convert the English captions into Portuguese.

    What is the significance of Matthew 1: 23? Why was Jesus given the name 'Jesus' instead of 'Immanuel' as per the prophesy? Forgive me if this is a naive question. I ask out of sheer curiosity. Thanks!

    • @bibletalktv
      @bibletalktv  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Jesus is the Greek (the New Testament was written in the Greek language) form of the Hebrew name Joshua or Jeshua.
      As to your point about Immanuel:
      Answer: In the prophecy of the virgin birth, Isaiah 7:14, the prophet Isaiah declared, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call Him Immanuel." This prophecy refers to the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1:22-23, "All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 'The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel' which means, 'God with us.'" This does not mean, however, that the Messiah’s name would actually be Immanuel.
      There are many names given to Jesus using the phrase “He shall be called,” both in the Old and New Testaments. This was a common way of saying that people would refer to Him in these various ways. Isaiah prophesied of the Messiah, “His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). None of these titles was Jesus’ actual name, but these were descriptions people would use to refer to Him forever. Luke tells us Jesus “shall be called the Son of the Highest” (Luke 1:32) and “son of God” (1:35), but neither of these was His name.

      Immanuel and Jesus? Do these names mean the same thing?
      IMMANUEL (sometimes spelled Emmanuel) in Isaiah 7:14, means "With us is God" or
      "God with us." This name given as a prophecy concerning Jesus Christ, because the name, Immanuel, describes that Jesus would be 'God united with man' and showed that 'God would be dwelling with man.'
      JESUS means "Savior" and was a description of what Immanuel would do and be while
      He was 'God with us.' JESUS is the greek form of the Hebrew name, JOSHUA (also spelled JESHUA or YESHUA) and is actually a shortened form of Jehoshua which means "Help of Jehovah" or "Savior".

    Your mention of the Talmud as a sort of viewpoint Jesus was speaking against seems inaccurate. The Talmud was written several centuries after the teachings of Jesus. Indeed one could argue that the primary reason for the existence and historical importance of the written Talmud was the destruction of the second temple, requiring extensive commentary to adapt Old Testament teachings to a world now without a central temple.
