A role as a bulky attacker without any setup options, recovery, or overwhelming power leaves you completely helpless against walls with recovery, or really any good defensive team structure. Guzzlord just isn't strong enough to get ohkos, it is absolutely destroyed by fairy type moves, and it can't leverage its bulk very well without recovery. This means it just kinda gets worn down over the course of a battle. If you're lucky and get every prediction correct, you might get a ko against a team not super well equipped to handle it, but it's inconsistent at best, and bad at worst. When the power level is low enough that Guzzlord's power is seriously threatening or its bulk becomes overwhelming, Guzzlord can do stuff. But in higher power levels, it's usually just a minor nuisance before dying. A well constructed OU team just isn't scared of Guzzlord, because a good team will inherently answer it, shrugging off its attacks while slowly chipping it down.
i have good memories of poipole. I remember using it once in, I think, gen 7 or 8 monotype poison because I liked it. Was it very good? I doubt it, don't remember. But it was very important emotionally.
Guzzlord’s defenses are low yes, but relative to the base HP stat, it does work, unlike mons such as Wailord or Wigglytuff where the HP does not offset the defenses. Like for example, a Guzzlord that is theoretically fully invested in HP and Def will have physical bulk about identical to max HP and Def Suicune. So I don’t think its net level of bulk itself is all that much the issue for Guzzlord. (Practically though, usually Guzzlord will be EV’d into offense and defenses without much HP investment.) You could still chalk it to multiple factors such as its typing not exactly being the best on a mon so slow, and it having to rely on Rest for longevity. But 223/53/53 isn’t nearly as tragic as people seem to think. It’s not the most efficient for its allocation, but it’s still mathematically more efficient than Toxapex’s spread of 50/152/142, which allocated more overall stat p oints in HP + Def + Sp.Def and still has lower overall bulk outputs, when the two mons are investing the same number of EVs defensively. (In practice, it gets skewed because Guzzlord invests only some of its EVs defensively while Toxapex invests all of it defensively.)
Guzzlord always made me sad. It's the most visually intimidating of the Ultra Beasts, and has such a great buildup to its encounters in Gen 7. Here's hoping it gets some kind of item/move that makes everything fall into place for it in the future.
Game Freak: *Makes Guzzlord the unofficial leader of the Ultra Beasts, having it be the main antagonist and final boss of the Sun/Moon post-game story and making it the only Ultra Beast with a confirmed human kill count* Also Game Freak: *Gives Guzzlord the lowest offensive power out of all fully evolved Ultra Beasts and the second lowest Speed so it can never take advantage of Beast Boost, **_the_** Ultra Beast ability* What did they mean by this?

You mention how Guzzlord was outclassed by Regidrago in Gen 8 and by Roaring Moon in Gen 9. I'm surprised that you didn't mention that Hydreigon had outclassed it despite Gen 7 being Guzzlord's debut Gen.
Gamefreak really needs to add an item for mixed attackers. Something like 1.4x damage, but attacking stats are averaged together. Would also be a fun item to switch up the attacking type of more min-maxxed attackers.
I've been thinking a lot about Guzzlord recently, I realise what did him dirty the most was having a high SPA. It might be nice to have but he definitely needed those stat points poured into the defenses instead. I'd also argue he might have deserved a BST 10 points higher than other Ultra Beasts seen as he was the final, most important and definitely most dangerous out of the others, that could've again been splitted into the defenses. And speaking of that, I'd also say he'd have been content with 200 HP instead, might have even made room for more Attack as definitely 101 doesn't fit him that much. A really unfortunate fate overall, wish things went better for him.
Im glad the thing has bad defenses. I remember wishing for a Hariyama with good defenses for a long time and ehm… let’s just say I kinda regret that wish now.

This is one of those pokemon that would be cool if they put it in pokemon unite as it may find some actual viability and/or notoriety there
me when i get dragon energy choice scarf regidrago in rands (i am going to win)
also roaring moon not covering 2chainz face is such an internet sentance =w=
I love Guzzlord but its stats are just insane in a bad way. I don't know what they wanted it to do
Give it dragon energy and maybe it can do something when it returns
Am I the only one who thought that slimy mofo was poison type?
guzzlord really is just shitty iron hands
Day 1 of asking for a presentation on zygarde

I wish he was good cuz hes funny
High HP with low defenses will never work aside from on Wobbuffet, and that's because it's whole gimmick is counterattacks
It's funny because gen 7 also introduces inverse Wobbuffet and it sucks too
he need eather inners out or simple
I fail to see how a Pokemon who's whole thing is being a giant, bottomless stomach doesn't get Belly Drum
If you're just a stomach and a mouth, where can you make noise (yes Ik that not all movesets are supposed to make sense please don't yell at me)
*AAAAAAAAAAA*
-Guzzlord
