So Fresh and So Clean! RYOBI 18V Soap Dispensing Power Scrubber PCL1701 Review

- While the RYOBI power scrubbers have been around quite a while, this new model PCL1701 sets the bar a little higher. @RYOBITOOLSUSA added a hose inlet, soap container, and nozzle near the brush head. With the flip of a switch, you can select between water, water & soap, or none. The jet nozzle dispenses a foamy soap right in the path of the rotating brush. While it doesn't seem so, the 210 RPM head is rather torquey.

man.. i need a yt channel to showcase tools and have an excuse to clean my house lol. If they made a 40v HP version of this it would be a beast.I have the old ones, and both were failing to heat. I took it apart and it was very much due to the sealing of the motor/electrical housing. That was causing the temp to exponentially rise with no thermal cutoff like they obviously did on this one.
Anyone with the old one watching this - I managed to get the motor working, added a high end HD grease that is made for high temp and it made a huge difference. I also tapped a hole in the back of the motor housing, added a rubber line, sealed around it and ran it up the handle to create a mini heat vent. Its not pretty, but works and never overheated again after that and the grease upgrade. I think the motor is tired after all the abuse and initial heat issues. When it fails I will put in a stronger motor.
I have the older model and use it for scrubbing the bathrooms, I dont need or want the hose attached but I see some nice changes. I use dewalt batteries with an adapter so the bigger battery box is nice, moving the on/off switch is nice I can never seem to find it on the bottom, and the new heads Im looking really forward to. The old ones will leave a black line on the wall when scrubbing the floor. The newer ones with bristles around the perimeter looks real nice and the bigger sizes. Cant wait for those.
It seems like a nice unit. Obviously you are going to need to use a regular hose for rinsing. It seems like the unit would have been way more convenient to operate if they would have configured it like a rug shampooer. In that you have a selector for water or soap but you dispense with a trigger build into the hand grip. That would allow much greater control of soap and make it last longer. As it is I suspect that little bottle will get empty quite quickly.
I just got the scrubber that doesn't have the soap and water. I didn't know about this machine until it was delivered. I thought about returning it and getting this model. But I think I'll stick with what I have.
I have both short and long unit, they need to have speed tune on the unit in the future, the new brush look way better to rip groud on tile
Ryobi needs a speed selector switch on the units. Understand that to much speed would sling water and soap back at you. I believe this unit made more to be a scrubber.
Wonder how it performs with NO water hose, just dipping in bucket? Does water help cool it?
Need to clean and prep my metal roof for painting. Wonder how this would work?
I saw this the other day and was very curious about it. Good to see a demo vid
Dang wish it had an optional, even small, water tank. I’d clean my concrete floors. Guess I could rig something. Just wish they thought of in home use.
Do you have a video showing it using the hex head attachment. Will regular drill brushes from amazon work on this one?
Can you used without a hose to clean the bathrooms? Do you have to use the Ryobi soap only or you can use another soap?
Need this for Ego or Dewalt brands because I have those batteries already and I am not about to start buying Ryobi batteries. :(
Could this support adding bleach to the soap mix?
Maybe I missed it, but did you give a run time?
When this beauty will be available in other countries?
Is this Scrubber the same one used to wash bathrooms ?
That soap bottle is so small. It make me run out of soap quickly. Is there any replacement?
Good review I like this tool. Would work on trailers rvs. Boats. Trucks. ?
That's what I would use it for
can be used to clean solar panels?
Can i use to just scrub, without water
I need something for my shower damn near have to shower to clean it smh
My wife gets so upset with me for not cleaning but I hate doing it. Only do it in the shower!
Do these work with washing a car?
Can you use a 2 liter bottle like the power sprayer?
No I think you need the pressure from the water line. And if it does have a “pump” so you could use a 2 L bottle I’d be nervous as if the bottle ran dry you’d be in trouble, running the machine dry would be bad even for a few seconds.
Gdzie można kupić to urządzenie?
i have all of the older 1s but not this 1
I want to use it for indoor … can i connect a water bottle or a bucket or something to use it ?
I don't believe a bottle would work. It wouldn't need a pump for pressure that the garden hose provides.
Brush and a PW. No new tools and I'd guess 2x-3x faster?
can i use this without the soap and water? will it work without using these two features? thank you (i like the hex and triangle interchangeability of this and the ability for the bigger batter to be used. but i don't want to use my water hose to make it work and i don't necessarily want to use the soap dispenser. will it work without using these two features.
Did you ever pick this up? Did anyone answer your questions? I am wondering the same thing
Yes you can use it however you want works great @yokomortel6479
Hope they fixed the attachemnet issue and increased the RPM, had one of the regular scrubbers and it was one the worst tools ever , no power at all and very slow rpm to clean anything , also very sloppy attachemnet , returned even though I liked the idea behind the product.
I'd rather have torque
Its to slow
Which scrubber did you have was it the one in the video ?
Can you use this on a car?
yes
I'm 5'4" and this thing is a back breaker. Not as powerful as a gas powered power washer. It needs an extension if you're using it on floors, driveway, or side of the house. I have several RYOBI products, but this one is very disappointing.
Just need a 24" round sponge head to wash my vehicles
I wouldn’t want to use that on any car’s paint job 😂
i saw some other reviews on this thing and they are JUNK ......
Seems like too much work. I'd rather have the pressure washer.
THey should have mead the scrubbing head that you can attach to a pressure washer.
This thing is a piece of crap. I bought it and would rather hand scrub. Spins at like 3 rotations per minute and is heavy at. The head is manually adjustable but doesn’t swivel naturally. Really just garbage tbh.
