      Hi, Zendy! Thank you for the positive comments, and I'm so very glad you found the videos helpful. I released a Study Skills video yesterday that you also might find helpful (Study Skills Sundays) and am posting a new video today about reference materials...they can be tricky! I wish you the best, and please feel free to ask any questions! By the way, did you perform well on the Science, Math, and ELU sections?

    • @SkINcArE139
      @SkINcArE139 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did well in science and math; however, not in English or reading. English is very tricky too because of subject-verb agreement, suffix, prefix, pronoun antecedent. Just to clarify what you mentioned about what to look for in passages. Are these key points always going to apply no matter what? Ex/ persuasive will always have opinion words, narrative will always have quotes, or pro-nouns etc... The reason I ask is because I feel I spend way too much time reading the passages and end up running out of time and second guessing of course. Thanks so much for your help, you're truly God's send!

    • @carolynmcallister1496
      @carolynmcallister1496  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These strategies I'm sharing do work MOST of the time - and the students with whom I have worked have found these strategies to be very helpful. There are of course instances where they don't work, and I will address those at some point in this series. But, a persuasive passage WILL always have an opinion. To clarify what I said about narrative passages: finding quotation marks that indicate a dialogue are one way to identify a narrative passage. Not all narrative passages will have quotation marks. Good luck, and thank you for watching!

You have one minute per question, and you can miss 10 and still pass! DON'T LEAVE ANY QUESTIONS BLANK! And if you do not pass, please know that it will not be because of lack of preparation or intelligence, it will be because this test IS challenging - which is why I wanted to share what I know about the TEAS. • @carolynmcallister1496
      @carolynmcallister1496  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not uncommon for students to have to take the TEAS more than once, but I'm sorry you didn't pass. What I recommend is that you watch the videos again and take notes. Also, be sure to manage your time when you test. So read the question first, quickly review the possible answers, and then skim the passage for the possible answer. Do not spend more than approximately one minute per question. If after a minute you still aren't sure, then GUESS and move on. You don't want to leave any questions blank, but you don't want to run out of time. You can miss about 11 questions on the Reading portion and still earn a 70%. I hope this helps, and good luck to you!

    • @carolynmcallister1496

      Be sure to always read the question first so that you will know what you are looking for. Also, look at the title; that might provide a clue. Lastly, try to figure out the answer, but don't spend too much time -instead you should guess. You have to be sure you do not run out time. Also, many schools accept a Total Score of 70. You can miss approximately 10 TEAS questions and still score 70. Good luck to you!

    • @carolynmcallister1496
      @carolynmcallister1496  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chronological refers to information presented in the order (dates) when it occurred. For example, a chronological passage about a student might look like this: "...born in 1990, moved to Texas, in 1995, graduated from high school in 2009, and then moved to Europe in 2010 to study abroad."
