    Awesome video. I just started my Field Notes sub box with the End Papers, and I hope the winter edition is awesome. I also subscribed to the dual Log and Jotter, but haven’t received my first ones yet. I love the airplane one and the campfire one, so I look forward to what’s coming. Also, the Nomad notebooks have been in my Amazon cart since I spied them on your Instagram feed. We’ll see how long it takes me to pick those up, but I must admit, I almost clicked purchase when I saw that you included them on the video. I think I’m scared everyone who watches will snatch them up now! 😹 I do love pocket size for watercoloring because it’s a small way to test color and practice shapes. I have a couple Taroko designs with Tomoe River Paper for that. Now I need to come up with a good storage system where I can see them all! I might reach pocket notebook S.A.B.L.E. (Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy) before i know it. Stationary is so peaceful and pretty, and pockets are the bite sized version. I loved hearing your thoughts and seeing your collection.

      Omg SABLE! That’s hilarious! The issue I’m facing is that I don’t have many throw-away notebooks so I feel pressure to find uses worthy of archiving. I’m on the verge of cutting off my pocket purchases...gotta face my harsh reality😆. I hope you enjoy your FN sub! It will be torture for me to quit that one!

      Sarah Martinez I think in the time I have used 2 I have acquired at least 20. I think I will have to be mindful of my purchasing. I don’t want to quit yet! I start by going all in and slow down eventually. 😹

    Trying so hard to restrain from placing a field notes subscription lol but I go to target and buy Yoobi’s 3 pack of pocket sized notebooks. The 3 pack is only $3 and some odd cents 😁

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve seen those! They are such an economical choice. I got the pocket Moleskine’s at Target to use for grocery lists. If I run out of those, I’ll get some Yoobis for sure!

    Thanks for the video! Very informative and useful. I just started a Field Notes subscription (with Clandestine) and am really enjoying it. I also signed up for Log and Jotter today, so I'm slipping down the rabbit hole! ;-) Great video!

      Thank you, Chris! I hope you enjoy your subscriptions. I canceled all of mine--the Field Notes was the hardest one to let go, but it was the last one standing! If I end up using all of mine and need more, I would totally get the Field Notes sub again!

    Hi Sarah I totally love these little books but never know what to do with them other than brain dumping. I have a couple Field Notes that I also use to cut and glue cute magazine and quotes images for a little art journaling on the go or while I wait at the doctor office and those type of places. Thank you for sharing always. xo

      Try searching for Journal Prompts. That will give you some questions to answer that make you think about your past, how you feel about life and other writing exercises

    It took me far too long to effectively use pocket notebooks mainly because I was far too concerned with style and form. I spent too much time on “the look” of the notebook’s pages and the organization of the content. One day I just started jotting lists, thoughts, reminders, passages from online news articles, names of interesting books, even random spoken phrases from passersby that I found curious or entertaining. Suddenly, my pocket notebook took shape.

    What a great video!! 😍❤️ Winter will be my last subscription for Field notes too! & just like you I told myself I would wait and see how they do with the winter and then I’ll renew if it’s awesome 😆✨✨ But also in my brain I’m like “or should I just renew” 🤔 because I’m just afraid of missing out of something good and then regretting not being subscribed haha 😆

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Omg that’s totally me😂😂. Serious FOMO for field notes. I’m hoping I’ll be distracted by other things that I’ll forget to renew (which would never happen😆).

      Sarah Martinez you’re welcome, I use mine every day and I keep them in my back pocket. I’ve fought fire with them and sweat all over mine and gotten it wet and still holds up super well. And doesn’t bleed hard. Useful for outdoor stuff as well as just day to day.

    Another one is Write: www.writepads.com/collections/pocket-notebooks. I did the Kickstarter for Nomad, and was disappointed. I got notebooks that had some upside down pages, and some crooked printing. May have been a rush job. I gave up on them. I do have a Field Notes subscription, though I’m kind of drowning in notebooks. The space themed ones were fun, but those cardboard models were frustrating beyond belief. I tried making one set, and finally just dumped them in the recycling bin.

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that is so disappointing about Nomad! With so many brands in the business, they really have to keep their game strong to compete. I’m totally drowning in notebooks too! I honestly only need a FN subscription and that’s more than enough for my needs. I never built those models because I saw so many bad experiences😂. I will check out Write! Thank you!

    Ohhh yeah lovely vid. I originally started in the field notes notebooks way back when. I found though that they are not fountain pen friendly. This is my last subscription with them because well no fountain pen friendly. I didn't want to pay $5 for one notebook so I passed on the Log n jotter even though I love their covers. How is the paper? Dapper sounded wonderful til you told me the price. Good thing I was sitting down. hehe

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, so many options! I don’t use fountain pens but I know it’s tough to find notebooks with the right paper for them. The Log and Jotter books have thinner paper than the field notes so I fear they wouldn’t hold up to fountain pens either.

    • @robbourne1950
      @robbourne1950 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sarahmartinezjournals Ohh yes you are so right. The log n jotter is not made for it. I just don't want to pay 97 a yr for field notes. And I am sure you have a stash of them too I bet. Let's compare stacks!! rofl

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel like my stash is pretty modest compared to some I’ve seen! I basically have one of those FN wooden storage boxes full of all the pocket notebooks I own (all different brands). But that’s still more than enough for me! I’m probably going to say goodbye to FN once my sub is over 😞.

    • @robbourne1950
      @robbourne1950 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sarahmartinezjournals I totally did buy some FN sized notebooks with the Tomoe River paper in them from Taroke Designs on Etsy. Fella gave me the hook up. Yeah so after my sub is over I'm not doing it. The tomoe River paper takes patience with fountain pen inks. Can't be rushing off to soccer practice with it. I'm in no hurries :)

    If you save your used/filled up notebooks, how do you store them? For some reason, it's harder for me to store the softcovers like these; they don't stack as well as hardcover notebooks, but I use them for writing reference and research, so I need to keep them and actually USE them. Maybe I'm better off with the durability of hardcover. Hmm.

    • @sarahmartinezjournals
      @sarahmartinezjournals  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a plastic bin I keep used books in. I just stack them all over each other so it doesn’t look pretty😆. I’ll also group some together with rubber bands, if needed.
