  • Goodbye Old Van.
Building new Adventure Vehicles means saying goodbye to old ones. I make the difficult decision to part ways with my 1996 VW T4 that I have owned for over 10 years. Affectionately known as 'The Rolling Home' this vehicle became the subject of our first book and the basis for our popular Vanlife instagram page. We also make great progress on our current 4x4 Sprinter customer build.

Wouldve saved that hightop and the porthole windows, being a conversion company woildve been cool to see that top live on. Ive thrown out parts and wholeheartedly regrtted it afterwards.

Ah man, it’s sad to see it go. It’s amazing how it’s had such an effect on so many people though. It’s pretty much what persuaded me to my my van.
I am going through exactly same thing with my van at the minute. I’m still may get it repaired if it’s not gonna cost me a fortune. I would really miss it if I had to get rid of it

When are we getting more of these? All of the episodes have been FANTASTIC SO far! I've been following you for years and have most of your publications (and shirts - please make more of these! Mine is at the end of it's life!!)
I would absolutely LOVE to see you work on your new personal van. I'm just now in a position to get my first van, and due to budget - will be converting myself - love this sort of thing anyway. I'm not sure whether to go T5, or. Ducato just yet, but which ever way I go it'll be closely modelled on your designs as they are head and shoulders above the competition. Keep it up, and release more content!!
PS if you are sellling, any Onwards merch, please let me know! I'd love aT, or pull over!

Very sad but the right decision was made. I'd hate to have to scrap my t4
I look forward to seeing what you replace it with......

Definitely a hard decision. I spent years trying to keep my bongo going until it just needed to much work. If I had endless funds I'd most likely still have it. But unfortunately that's not the case. Loving the content, keep up the great work 👍🏼

Sprinter looks amazing. Your engineering skills and attention to detail are to be applauded. Well done and good luck with the completion.

I'm sure it was a hard decision to let the van go but in the end the right decision with the amount of work needed. I wish there were still some copies of the journal available as I'm missing 2 and 4. Looking forward to what's next in whatever van you choose.

I've never seen this much rust on a T4 :O If anything, I was surprised you wanted to take a shot at it prior to stripping down.

Followed you for years, came to the Milton Keynes book launch too. Then caught up again at Quirky 2019, was great to see the camper all finished. Sad to see the years have taken their toll again.

I met you guys, and the van when you did your Kickstarter/book launch in Milton Keynes many years ago. Great to see the van is still fighting on, and then I watched more of this video and saw that all the hope in the world cannot fight the weather and rust.
