    Man I'd love to see a new Mothra that is as massive or even bigger than the original. As huge as the wingspan is on the MonsterVerse Mothra is, her body is waaay smaller in proportion.

      Well given that Kong and Godzilla grew in the recent film, I'm sure Mothra would be the same. Besides I always saw her size as a result of her prematurely hatching and rushing her metamorphosis to help Godzilla. Or at least that's my silly headcanon anyway

    I really like the design of Mothra in both Tokyo SOS and GMK, one is very close to the original but updated to have more insect-like legs, the other gets insect like features and a new wing pattern.
    I agree that the fight in Tokyo SOS is the best of them all, it's very dynamic and gives Mothra a sense of physical strength that wasn't in GMK

    Couldn't agree more with the verdicts. I have a particular appreciation for the less rigid and more fluid presentation of Mothra's wings in SOS.
    They're just so flappy.
    It always makes me smile.

    Great video! The 1964 and 2003 fights are my favorites as well. The puppeteering and movement in the original was so well done and I'm glad that they were able to perfect it in 2003. Even though his flying from was pretty stiff, Battra is such a cool kaiju. I'd love to see him make a comeback one day

    My favorite fight is from Tokyo SOS followed by '64. She looks incredible in both movies and moves nearly flawlessly. I forgot about their fight during the Ebirah movie. Thanks for mentioning it.
    I love the Tokyo: SOS fight. Splendidly executed and edited within the movie in a way where I wanted to see more of the fight but was satisfied with the fight's conclusion. Even if we saw all of the fight or more of it, we the audience would get bored. It's probably the longest battle in all of Godzilla history, lasting from dusk to dawn, way longer than The Battle of Helm's Deep from The Two Towers. Even if this battle took place during summer, the entirety of it would have lasted 8-9 hours minimum when you include the larvae and Kiryu. While it isn't clear how many hours the adult Mothra is there, she holds her own at least through twilight (the sun has fully sat) before her leg is bitten off, so roughly an hour, already surpassing their '64 battle length. I forget what the distance is between Tokyo and Infant Island, but the twin larvae don't seem to be swimming at Mach speeds from the footage we see, so their journey definitely takes some time, likely hours. Mothra is still alive, albeit wounded, when her children arrive. She even helps Mechagodzilla during his first battle with Godzilla (a favorite moment of mine) and saves her children from being incinerated. For the sake of hypothetical ease, if she died at midnight, that would mean that she was in battle and was in the presence of Godzilla, not to mention Kiryu, for 5 hours and still had strength enough to save her children. That's amazing!

    I always enjoyed the fight in both the 1964 and 2003 films the most. Her fight and design in GMK are just as iconic, though her battle was more overshadowed by Ghidorah, imo. I enjoyed the special effects on the 1992 film, but if it were more like how the first battle in Rebirth of Mothra movie, I think it would've been much more enjoyable

    Very fun video. I do have a lot more love for the 90's flick, even with it's issues. Always been a big Battra fan. I think my favorite fight has to be the original. It's rough around the edges, but it was one of the first real Goji films I had the pleasure of seeing.

    1964 also introduced one of Godzilla's best looks of all time. The look in his eyes seems so dead and uncaring. Honestly, even GMK's look couldn't top it. And I have to mention how cathartic it feels having gone from a child who hated Mothra for beating Godzilla all the time to an adult who can rarely hold back a single tear every time he hears that damned song of hers, filled with hope and majesty.

    I never really consider Mothra a rival to Godzilla since most of their fights are one sided with Godzilla killing Mothra most of the times unless she has outside help like Battra.

    That’s what I didn’t like about her resent incarnation in kotm. He’s always been an ass to mothra and has been just one inch from turning on her and killing her instead. Why would they suddenly be in such good terms?

      @districtcrackpotgaming9726 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@boshwa20 yeah, but I would’ve liked them to present Godzilla as a little more aggressive. Or glorify there relationship a little less. As far as I’m aware, Mothra has been Godzillas ally, but they’ve never had a symbiotic relationship. I just think the direction they took with the monsters was a bit too fan service.

    • @Kaiju-bm4ts
      @Kaiju-bm4ts 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@districtcrackpotgaming9726 You do realize each godzilla universe does its OWN things right?. Just because toho never did the symbiotic relationship concept doesn't mean legendary can't do it either. Legendary takes real world inspiration from animals alot more than toho did, so if a damn crocodile can have a symbiotic relationship with a bird in real life what's the issue with a symbiotic relationship between a moth and a reptile? Especially when both are established as protectors of the planet. That's not a form of fan service when it's a concept never done before. What godzilla has done to mothra in the past doesn't mean he should do the same in a different universe. In the monsterverse both are earth defenders thus it's natural they would form an symbiotic alliance.

    • @Kaiju-bm4ts
      @Kaiju-bm4ts 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@districtcrackpotgaming9726 plus kotm didn't glorify the symbiotic relationship much, the most kotm did was briefly say the two have a relationship and you see mothra's wing patterns and hear her roar in godzilla's nuclear pulse. That's the most evidence of their relationship in the entire movie.....I wouldn't call that glorifying when the movie mentions their relationship and moves forward quickly.
