You’re the biggest legend the drift community as ever seen , definitely a huge pleasure to be able to see you take back to back podium’s at Europe and America, you’ve done what anyone was capable of in this world , take the 2 biggest drift competitions in the world in the same year, and for me that’s nuts, I really wanna say tank you for that, because at the end of the day I’m able to see it happening with my eyes 🖤
and last year in Ireland rubber witch break Lauris PS wiring basicly cost his championchip. this happening others than James too. really bad luck overall.
I do personally believe the tyre compunds is getting a little bit crazy, and this event highlighted it I think. Perhaps dialing it back a notch for the sport might help everyone a bit. To me while the speed is great, I have noticed that with the grip levels now it's becoming a bit more of a drag race with much less angle at times, which to me isn't really drifing.
100% agree, I hate it when I hear drivers talking about having to conserve their tyres to make it through the second lap, I don't care how fast they can go if they can't actually finish a battle. But I also wonder, at an event with extremely high amounts of tyre debris, why the fuck do they not have sweeper trucks out there to help prevent damage or injury? Big flying chunks of rubber can pack pack a hell of a punch
@@kiwicobra8742 I know everyone likes to talk shit on FD but I'm pretty sure the 2-3 hour break between top 32 and 16 is for them to clean up the track. Seems like Driftmasters sacrifices that to have a fast-paced show that is better for viewership and entertainment.

Being the best drifter ever I don't think so but I'd love to hear your answer please. @@smerplederple4144 there are plenty of drivers out there that could do with losing a few kilos. Surely a piece of mesh wouldn't make a difference. I love how you and the lads have a nice tidy set up, just the van and car, and a gazebo. Nice and humble, parked between two huge rigs. Good luck with that final round in FD. And hopefully Poland goes well too.
You've had that happen before. The FIA WC if memory serves. Isn't there a shield or something you can put to enclose the pulley? My engines the dry sump is inside the bottom of the engine so everything is totally enclosed. External pumps always bother me with the amount of rubber, gravel etc flying around on a racetrack.
To answer the topic. No, Lauri cost you the championship (or he will). And now you learned that a cover of some sort could have saved you there. Now we all looking forward to Poland.
Actually, look closely at the cars. There is a reason why they don't have covers there, and that's because of accessability to the suspension and engine accessories after crashes and mishaps, and in times of quick setup changes.
@@jaroslavrenda3258 is it worth loosing? I'm not meaning they need it under the car/engine, just a cover for the belts. Removing two or three screws is not that hard 🤷🏼
@@sirfalk Let's look at Adam LZ for example (I know this happened to other drivers as well but I forgot their name - Cirba maybe?). He has a long history of losing alternator/powersteering belts on his 2JZ in both his old E36 in US and now his Europe E36. They figured a fix recently, but let's say they did not. You're in your 1st run of a battle, belt goes off. What now? In US you can call a 5 min timeout and fix it - this could be enough time for undoing the cover and fixing it. In DMEC tho, you have 2 minutes to get back to the starting line (if i remember correctly it's 2 minutes from when the first car gets to the line). In those 2 minutes, I don't think there would be enough time to mess with a additional cover. Another thing is, that the cover would be huge and there is really not a good mounting space for it. The rubber piece that shut him down didn't go to the timing belt that is protected, but to the accessory belt that runs the pump. That assembly is fairly large and engineering a cover would be fairly hard in my opinion. Also, I don't recall this incident happening often, so it might just be a one in a million kind of thing, and spending all that time because of it? I don't know man. Probably not worth it.

James, I hope u don’t take this too personally and bounce back to eventually win both titles, although even one is gonna be really good still. I really want you to give your thoughts on this one, please 🙏
still one more round to send it, its a shame the belt came off but i guess thats just the sport, hopefully you can put down the round of a lifetime to get the double title this year
I like that you mentioned the gear ratios your using. I'm always curious and it seems something everyone keeps quiet on Is it normal to run the cars less gripped up for qualifying so they are easier to drive or is just better to send it as you intend to during comp?
Guessing a few engine belt covers are getting bought/fabricated by the teams before Poland ... and speaking of, haven't done the math but I think there still may be a non zero chance you could win the championship, if another crazy upset happens
