What a great watch. Loved how the image revealed itself as you worked on it.

The way he draws, using fingers without hesitation, is so amazing. I even got a little teared up after watching this video! It reminds me of my long abandoned passion for pencil drawing,. How it got disapproved by my grandma just because it had nothing to with my academic performance (I'm from Asian culture btw), also how my obsession for accuracy made me unable to draw each time I finished a piece. I got tired of being so careful, and yet, couldn't dare to throw the obsession away to allow myself to express freely. Thanks for sharing this. So glad to have watched this.

Shawn, I rarely comment EVER. I feel the pain in yours. I'm hoping you continue to try. Art can be therapeutic - painful and healing. Don't give up. You have the strength.

„Come to live“ this is just a show effect... this looks definitely outstanding or magic for ppl who doesnt studied or train their knowledge in art, but this „style“ to draw is not impressive for people who went in a art university or something. Sounds hard but every official art university would reject him, if he has only this kind of pictures in his portfolio

I've been drawing and painting on and off for over 40 years. Even professionally doing scenic work for several theater companies. But have never had any instruction. This video after watching it about 10 times has had a profound effect on my work ! Thank you very much josh. ✌

I appreciate the commentary on the process. Painting with charcoal. I'm self-studied. There was a gap I couldn't breach in regards to painting and rendering with just tone alone. You helped me make that connection. Thanks.

Hi Josh. I'm just getting motivated to get back at drawing again, I'm 52 years old now and haven't touch a 4B pencil in almost thirty years! Been too busy and basically lost my desire for art. By chance I came across your channel and have gotten a spark/inspiration to begin again. What advise would you give to a rusty "artist" at this stage. I'm very impressed by your tutorials and I'm will to begin again! Keep doing what you do!!

No offense, but EVERY artist who went in a art university or art classes know that THIS is just a show effect for ppl with an untrained eye for art. He try to show us that hes making something out of nothing, but this is truly not the case, this is just a messy scribble way to draw. I dont say that hes untalented, but he is like a typical self taught artist. You can hate me now with senseless comments like „maybe you should try to draw, show us :((„ but atleast i got arguments. As someone who did his art Uni degree in germany and his master in 2d and 3d art in canada, i can say that this portfolio would ne reject in EVERY official art university.
