Good song. Don’t love it but I like it. I will say that I am liking it more and more with each listen. I am on board with this new era. Emily has a good voice.
I'm gonna be completely transparent, as a life-long Linkin Park fan since 2002-2003 this track is very underwhelming. Instrumental wise, it's your standard Linkin Park traditional sounding from the band that if you've been paying attention remotely on what they've been doing for years, this song just doesn't strike a chord than the earlier albums like Hybrid Theory or Minutes To Midnight. I do respect the band for continuing the legacy during Chester's passing, but however this new vocalist needs to do more training and get adjusted to learn the melodies, harmonies and arrangements these guys been doing for years. It's objectively better than One More Light I can agree, but it's not as speculator say The Hunting Party and or A Thousand Suns due to the wild experimentation. I will of course support the band because I respect their admiration and dedication being musicians, but this new vocalist is either someone you'll love, hate or be mixed upon. This feels like B-Sides when Mike did Fort Minor and it's not necessarily terrible, but rather a song that just doesn't have character, emotional impact or organic structures. Maybe it's just me but I'll stick to the Chester Bennington era because nobody sounded like him during the 2000's when his registered vocals, melody, compositions and delivery doing screams and leads will always be remembered.
Very good song in my opinion. I think of this as a new era for Linkin Park and a tribute to the era prior to this. Emily Armstrong is a strong fit for the band as she isn't trying to be Chester. I heard the Dead Sara stuff she was a part of before listening to this new song and this is one of her best performances. This isn't trying to be Chester-era Linkin Park despite having strong similarities to the sound of prior work (Hunting Party, Minutes To Midnight), and that's okay.
I thought this new Linkin Park song was just okay. It’s a bit generic but it’s not terrible. New singer Emily Armstrong is doing a great job with singing alongside Mike Shinoda. We all miss Chester but she does a great job filling in for him. However the song in general feels like a b-side from Minutes to Midnight. I hope the rest of From Zero is better.
This is a strong track! I think that we will have to see what the new album brings and hope it’s a step up back in the right direction starting something new and fresh! I would give it a 4.5/5.
