    "subtle guitar leads"
Yeah, the layers of composition are insane. On the surface you have what would otherwise be a prosaic post-punk song if it were another band. But when you listen closely you find that the bass and guitar lines are, not so much complicated (though sometimes they are in other songs), but non-standard, and incredibly well thought out so that everything works together as a coherent whole that is far more in total than the sum of the parts. Most rock bands seem to believe in a "less is more" sort of philosophy, but what Band-Maid has figured out is that, if you design the parts right, more is waaaay more.

"Choose Me" is very mainstream accessible. The Maids and this song were featured in the Netflix movie "Kate" a couple years ago, along with "Blooming" in a car chase scene. Thanks for the reaction!

"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" and the HBO Max series Peacemaker as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic.
Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joy of rock. Here's a great live MV of "Choose Me" that's not quite as punchy do to the mix, but still good: th-cam.com/video/HcqitbXgigU/w-d-xo.html Thx, D-Dad & Tubsy

The perfect mid-2000's pop-punk song. If you want something similar I'd say Don't You Tell Me MV (the official live video is good once you hear the original but the crowd mix is super low so you can't hear the crowd sing half the chorus).

Try "Alone," Po! After many attempts by Kanami (Lead G, main composer), It was their 1st sanctioned (allowed by management) song, written exclusively by them, to be recorded. The rest is history, Po! Check out the official MV for it. 🦍🍌

Hey guys, I call this the Classic BAND-MAID period. 2016-2019. You've already heard DICE. Now check out BUBBLE, ALONE, YOLO, BLOOMING, RINNE and the ever awesome power ballad DAYDREAMING. It will be hard to dispute that these are Classic BAND-MAID. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥btw, look for the "white room" instrumental videos of songs that are out there and I will guarantee that you hear the Many "subtle guitar leads" of Kanami. Especially GIOVANNI. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 849

You asked for songs like this one and I see people are giving some suggestions. They are all good ones too so I won't offer any more other than to say that just in general they have The knack of making you feel about 10 times better than you did before you heard the song. Even when you've heard the song A thousand times!

Most of their early songs tend to be mid tempo with what many call a pop punk vibe. Try Before Yesterday. Choose Me is a favorite of lead singer Saiki. She asked composer Kanami to write another song similar in style. Kanami tried, and instead came up a harder song, HGK. Maybe Choose Me on steroids?

I would suggest Blooming as somewhat similar style to Choose Me. I also like Turn Me On as well.

Well get that right earhole tuned up for when you revisit Kanami's subtle background guitar shredding, she never rests.
    Check out "Blooming" boys..........Hang On!!

I'm confused why so many people are suggesting Non-fiction days when he asked for a pop-punk song similar to Choose Me. NFD is amazing, but it's definitely not anything like Choose Me. It's more turn of the century Nu-Metal than anything (and that intro is straight up Hoobastank's crawling in the dark).
