I like how it ties back to how Theresa considers your soul to be what defines you, that's why she said that stripping our memories was merely "unburdening" us but preserving the kind man underneath. So it checks out that her own memories would deny that they make the whole person.
@@glasses2926 I mean that's true but in her case, she quite literally burned her own soul (and every other sarkaz) out from Originium. It makes sense that whatever she left behind is convinced that theresa is gone at that point, she gave herself 'true death'

Sweetest Sarkaz deserved better.
oh you don't even know much i want to take her hand and travel all across the land with her, met ppl she never knew and ideal she never had. the ppl she tried to find salvation all the same, to a peaceful slumber among flower beds all over the land. i would let her sit down talk all day with someone like Kristen, Ho'ol, Mumu, Talulah, Yelena, Shu, Reed, Gladiia, WK, Arturia and so on. talk about all life, future and past. it will go into a debate even a heated one, but she will be glad to know it all, even happy. bcs trying to save life in the whole world but you haven't even see them by yourself is just too sad.
Only just now finished all lore-related stuff in Babel and.. I don't know. For the past month, as I slowly progressed through the Babel and Chapter 14, it feels like I get a knife in the heart every day. And by the time the wound stops bleeding and I come back the next day - I get another stab right in the same place 😥 "Civilight Eterna" as an "Operator" is another such stab. She is not Theresa. The people left their King and now she is no more...
This could just be my own reading of things, but I don't think Theresa necessarily disliked her position as the Sarkaz king, so much as she viewed it from a more paternal angle. Something I only realized while looking at fanart of other characters, Theresa's dress kind of resembles an apron, in a way. Which I think is a great detail in how it gives her that motherly air, she even calls the Sarkaz her children at one point, and not to mention it likely calls back to her being a seamstress in the past. And especially seeing the kind of influence she had on Amiya was very touching. My only complaint is that we didn't get to see enough of them together, but in a way that still feels like good writing, cause even I, as an observer, feel like they never had enough time together. Theresa is my favorite character, hands down
I am a loyal follower of Her Highness...Babel broke my heart 😢 And chapter 14 ripped it completely out 😭 Now I expect only two things from the game - a playable Talulah and the opportunity to avenge Theresa's death on all who were involved, all who have not yet paid for that...
None of the motifs used in the Babel event are new; kindness, empathy, hatred, violence, betrayal, regret. These are all common human experiences. But what really set Babel apart, and elevated Theresa to simp Sainthood, is how HG treated every single snippet of the story, for 10 whole levels. Everything they wrote sucked you deeper and deeper into the vortex, made you care deeply for these characters at varying degrees, and actually made the player feel the same respect and admiration for Theresa as all the other characters did. In this way, it made the player LIVE the story; it gave them an expertly crafted false sense of hope, just to brutally snatch it away in the end. It even made the players be the instrument of their own sorrow with BB-9. They extended a kind hand, made you willingly put your heart in it, then rip it out in all it's cruelty. It's this bespoke craftsmanship, this level of effort put into this entire Sarkaz arc, that sets it apart from everything else.
8:20 I'll add that she did a good act by wiping Doc's memory. She could have killed him, she could have, but she didn't because she saw his true nature and that he was a kind man. His decision to betray her seems very likely to have been caused by an outside influence on his personality.
I think she knew that the Doctor didn’t plan on living any longer than her. “Once I’m done, I’ll vanish into silence” and “unable to appear in our promised future.” Wiping his memory wiped away the self-destructive impulses.
Who doesn't love Theresa? She fills a void in everyone's heart. I love the ending because, even though I cannot relate to the doctor's reasoning, I can understand why the doctor succumbs to the sunk cost fallacy and makes that choice. That's the clash between understanding the doctor's perspective and our love for Theresa as a character that makes Babel's ending so compelling for me. It's bittersweet ending with emphasize more on bitter part
There's in-game hints in the Babel event itself that we may have been brainwashed by Priestess or our race as a whole to continue the Originium project, in BB-8 After, The Oracle, past us, tells Kal'tsit that we betrayed Priestess due to our love of life itself, which makes believe that brainwashing occurred afterward, also Oracle and Priestess have a argument in the Spes cuts of the Vigilo event records
Good vid! Theresa, my beloved. When I first heard her voice in the concept PVs, I was already charmed. I knew in my core what HG were going for with her. I was also pleasantly surprised when I heard her English voice. While it cannot replicate the sweet and playful mannerism of Nanri Yuka, Kari Wahlgren's Theresa is more soft, pained, and... gone. Both are fantastic interpretations.
Same. I just got Civ Eterna last night, and was messing w rhe VA files. Her EN voice sounded much more "alive", ironically for a char that's ****. Unfortunately, her EN voice sounds a bit forced and hollow. Its got more emotion than the JP one, but kinda fake. Almost like a counterfeit LV bag. I still picked the EN voice in the end for its fullness tho. It Is What It Is.
@@tempota7792 It is as you said. The EN counterpart is more hollow... Sadly, that is fitting... I'm still staying with JP for now, but it is a tough choice. I'll probably switch from time to time like I do with Kal'tsit.
Before: "I think Theresa is just stereotypical 'Good, Idealistic, and Flawless Ojou-sama'. So boring and i can find this character elsewhere. " After Babel & Ch. 14: "UWOOOGGHHH! I would kill and die for you, Your Highness"
Spoilers but not really. I don't think it'll ruin anyone's experience of Ch 14 "Civilight Eterna" is Amiya's projection of Theresa based from her memories. It's directly named after the crown because it is _the_ information written on the crown about Theresa. It's also prolly the reason why the character design between Theresa and Civilight Eterna is significantly different yet still familiar
Its hard to see the choice the doctor has to make as hard, since the world belongs to the living even though eons of evolution and work as gone into it it still doesn't feel right.
Favorit charecter (Provence, because i am studiing to get the same job) But lore whise i also really like Grey throat, because of the character development and showing how the struggle between non infected and infected can get along.
Babel Theresa was a giga chad. Instead of going with the smooth brained devil way of 'I don't want peace! I want problems!' she went and tried to make a better future for her people outside the of definition of insanity. Too bad that most Sarkaz, and her PoS brother, couldn't fathom a reality without perpetrating a stereotype. And Babel doctor's unfortunate decision. I don't know how feel about chapter 14 Theresa. I think I liked Babel Theresa better.
I feel a conection with Highmore, even if i feel it is silly, probaly cus of her stoic but still nihilistic mindset, aways expecting the worse but not leting it get her down.
I don't read all the story of Arknights but I did read most of Babel because I really liked the origin stories and found it interesting to learn about.
If one were to be overly critical, one could say that Theresa was fridged for Doctor's development and now has no agency of her own after being brought back. Yes, she is very close to the stereotypical gentle and nurturing mother. But that's not all she is. She very much wields these attributes as weapons as well. That's why her march out of Kazdel is so powerful. She even stops to talk to someone. Even the Assassins she kills with kindness. But that's not all that there is to her. Her status as one of the Seven Heroes who vanquished the coalition army 200 years ago really does speak to the fact that she is an incredibly powerful individual even outside of these character traits. Kal'tsit even calls her a Caster the likes of which is only seen once in a thousand years in Ch. 14. Yet her cruelest ability comes from the combination of her background as a seamstress and being a wearer of the Black Crown when she cuts apart the tapestry that are the Doctor's memories. All the while she still believed in her twin brother. Knowing that they both aim for the same goal, if only through different means. Hers were rejected by her people. And so all she can do after being revived is to aid his cause. Ultimately pitting her against all the friends who once stood by her side and believed in her path. All of this makes the Operator known as Civilight Eterna even more bittersweet.
please, guide me to get all her potentials. I've cleated every level on the 14th chapter: normal;, event, and red event as well as Hidden Front but I still can't get her full potentials.
*Looks at own name.* *Looks at own avatar.* Welcome to the club! ... though I disagree with your interpretation of her xD. ...which is actually great because Theresa has enough depth to allow for such disagreements.
CE: "I'm not Theresa" Also CE: "I'm here. Oh this is my chair! Did I just watch my baby fighting?! I'm not going anywhere this time." Yeah, sure. Not Theresa. Right.
CE knows she's not Theresa and would never claim to be Theresa out of respect but it's still a 1:1 copy of Theresa and would make the same decisions and feel the same
I think Theresa really won me over when she was killing her assassins funnily enough. Something about how empathetic she is as she tells them she remembers them. even as circumstances has forced her to ruthlessly cut them down. I dunno, it really made me tear up lol. Edit: I think my favorite characters lore and storywise might be the Pinus Sylvestris yuri couple. I can't pick between them, they're a unit to me. I just really like their dynamic and their motivations, plus I love the faction aesthetic. e0 Ashlock is actually maybe my favorite piece of norizc art in the whole game. Going with the theme of a character really winning me over with a specific moment, Ashlock's berserker rage at flametail's (fake) death and the explanation that she just imaged actually losing Flametail to make herself go off like that legitimately gave me chills the first time. I hope we see more of them in the future.
@tempota7792 I got her to e2 for the first time, saw she lost her armor and the plastic shell on her gunlance, and immediately swapped back to her e0 art lmao. I like her e2 art, but it doesn't have the Pinus Sylvestris swag

If you're making fries then you probably want to use frozen fries, but if someone is making a meal then you're probably better off getting potatoes and making a different potato dish. Sorry, I just heard the story and wanted to add my two cents.
I do like her story alot. I would still choose Priestess over her, but still Tbh, i do think she should've stayed dead, it feels like HG softened a bit compared to the early chapters, where people like Patriot and Frostnova, both massively important characters, died.
At least it's not full on revival, it's just an AI acting as her. And there's a limit on what AI can mimic, even if it's a small one, unless that crown is super advanced. Still would.
Well, Theresa's "echo" that she left in Black Crown feels more like another stab in heart, rather than she stopped of "staying dead". A constant reminder about mess we have done, that manifest when Amiya is around.
tbf both are just nobody in the grand scheme of thing. fn only important to amiya and doc while patriot is just a candidate for wendigo royal court and great warrior, nothing the sarkaz has never seen. obviously their king are much more important to all whether the sarkaz or RI
As for Civilight Eterna the 6* Operator, from my initial look into her, isnt she about 80% of a Skalter? Her numbers are about that much worse than Skalter's, and her main gimmick revolves entirely around her Orbs, which are finicky and hard to control. She does have better passive healing with her S1, but her S2 and S3's reliance on Orbs, and the multiple diff effects all tangled into S2 and S3 make those 2 skills harder to precisely use. That's why I took and good look and stopped her at E1 maxed. I probably should have left her at E0 if I was going to use her solely for ornamental purposes. Now she's stuck in purgatory, again.
Her S3 gives very strong healing/survivability, much stronger than Skalter's S2. She is the best healer in the game if you want to heal Surtr S3. Of course this might still not be enough to make it worth raising her. I'm just pointing out her strengths, you decide whether she's worth it or not.
My feelings about Theresia are pretty mixed. On one hand, as a fan of post-apocalyptic settings like *Nier* and *Souls* series, I think she's an incredible "loop breaker" character. These settings typically revolve around a central loop-the endless war in *Nier*, the kindling or dream in *Souls*. The main character’s decision to break or continue this cycle is always impactful, leaving only two real choices: break the loop or create a new cycle. Theresia, however, manages to do both by resetting the Doctor’s memory and stop the Babel. That brought a wave of nostalgia and made me wonder, "Is something like this even possible in other games I love?" It was mind-blowing and kept me thinking for a solid half hour. On the other hand, she falls short of my ideal character. I started playing *Arknights* because of characters like Patriot, FrostNova, and Talulah. They each have clear motivations and will do whatever it takes to make them happen. Patriot and FrostNova simply want to protect what's theirs, while Talulah's story of reclaiming Lungmen is really compelling. Even though Talulah survives, she's almost "dead in the story," and Theresia falls into a similar trope. Her ambitions build the Babel are grand, but she gives up halfway. Like, come on, Theresia, at least challenge the Doctor a bit! Also, I feel like Hypergryph doesn’t always respect their characters' deaths. It’s frustrating when they bring characters back after impactful death scenes, which makes it feel like those emotional moments were for nothing. Why bother feeling anything if they’re just going to come back for a plot twist? Can a character truly disappear from the story? Does everything need a happy ending just to cater to casual players? They’re probably not reading the story anyway man!
Despite my criticisms, I still have a fondness for Theresia. After waiting three long years for a new "impactful" character release and their associated storyline, she certainly delivers. I recognize that my taste in characters might be a bit all over the place, but I appreciate what I can get before watching how Hypergryph handles the Priestess's death, Amiya's growth, and the Doctor regaining full power, as well as Surtr's lore, all before I eventually leave the game.
@@BlueClouding Spoiler alert in case you haven't finished chapter 14 yet. They didn't really bring back theresa. Her final death at the end of ch14 is her true death. The "Theresa" that we got as playable is not Theresa. Its the Black Crown physical form manifestation that use Theresa as its template.
tbh I think you're underplaying Theresa ideological standpoint. She was a revolutionary leader that wanted to try and basically both massively improve the sarkaz life and free them from their existential curse (which it's not only metaphisical). Despite all her struggle she wasn't able to do so, she was killed by the military commission, betrayed by a military junta like many other 'revolutionary leaders' irl. Her entire point of view is represented in her stories to amiya, like the puppet one. Her arc is mimicked in reunion moving from a revanchist terrorist movement to something that is not so slowly becoming a communist movement (lol). She realized that to save the Sarkaz meaningfully she needs to save everyone, she couldn't realistically think that just flipping the paradigm (like her brother wants) would actually help the sarkaz, but at the same time she realizes that she and current Babel couldn't realize it, so she passes the torch to amiya
if she going back to RI after ressurected the sarkaz will die from an inevitable war and nothing will came out of it, theresis wouldn't stop. but if she joined them and mend the purpose to fit her more, not just war to bring chaos and chances, but bring salvation to uncountable amount of souls that's stuck inside a rock and bring peace to the raging hating heart of all sarkaz.
@@cathylunn2809 Then you have no reason to say Frostnova is better than Theresa Not that I don't like Frostnova she's amazing, both are good in their own ways
I think Theresa is overrated. I know she is Sarkaz's Messiah, but I can't like her. Her ideals feel so... swallow in comparison to her compatriots. I'm not saying her as a character is a swallow, I'm saying her dreams, her objective, and her ideal is a swallow. We have the Sanguinarch and Nachzehrer King, arguably the most Sarkaz Sarkaz we have seen in the game. We see Patriot. We See Theresis going balls to the walls plans and doing his best to win and achieve his objective. Meanwhile, she is Miss. Positivity that wants to undo the wounds done on the Sarkaz and proceed to a better dream... but that isn't possible. The Sarkaz are brutal, the Sarkaz bread and butter are war and death. They are Death. They have been dealing with Death for so long... but some of them broke out of the cycle, because they recognized that the will of the majority of the Sarkaz, of their bloodlines, yearn for their hatred and spite towards other species. They gathered those who wanted to stop their descent into the abyss, and started new lives away from the Will of the Sarkaz. The only way out of the cycle is to strike out and find your own way. Patriot did it, the ancestors of Anasa and Oni did it. Sankta did it. Theresa wanted to brute-force her dream to her species, to her subjects. It would never happen, because she can't change everyone. She can't undo the damage done to the Sarkaz, her pacifist dreams were for naught. She tried to bring change too quickly, for a race that lives far too long and blames the children of other species for the sins of their fathers. She is a good person. An atrocious leader, and a bad Sarkaz in my eyes. If she wanted to make her dreams come true, she should've waited, and let the festering wound in the Sarkaz species heal a little bit so she could gather those who anted to change, and make a home for them, not force-fed her ideals in their mouths. She was impatient, and everyone, especially the Sarkaz, paid the price. In a way, this is why I prefer Theresis over her. He knows what the Sarkaz here, he knows what the Sarkaz want, so he will bring what the people want. He is not brash, he is methodical and knows how to wait for the long game. He has many sins and pains, especially related to Theresa. In a way, I say he mirrors the Doctor well. Both are chained in a battle that should be avoided at all costs, but they can't change the course of the train wreck waiting to happen, just play their part in it. Well, this is what I think. Besides, the best girl is Ishar'mla. The land will be ours soon.
The thing is that she is neither as positive nor as 'absent minded' as you think she is lol, she perfectly realizes that the sarkaz are bitter, and she doesn't shame them for that. It's just that flailing against the entire world is not gonna improve the sarkaz life, and despite a lot of nice fancy words about the bloodlines 'n shit most of the sarkaz higher ups are actually more interested in permanent war than in fixing the situation of their subjects (just look at the sanguinarch lol). So she passes the torch to amiya because she sincerely thinks she has a better shot at building an actual ''international'' force of change than her was, because at the end of the day she was just a hero to the sarkaz, amiya can become an hero to the world
I think you are being unfair. Look how far those "shallow" ideals have reached. Rhodes Island has gone very far. They are now basically involved in every country.
see you must first spell better, it's shallow. but what's more shallow than wanting to continue warring for another century when nothing ever came up from it? you thing NK and vampire king is special? you think patriot and frostnova is special? no they're all just mediocre soul. mediocre in no means to disrespect but just the same as everyone else. trying to continue the cycle. no matter how grand the war is, it's just a mediocre choice. bcs it will never end and nothing will cane from it. countless has tried before and they all fall in ruin all the same. the moment you think it's pointless to get out from the cycle you lost. just another mediocre soul
nothing will came up from theresis war if not for her. nothing will came up from doctor plan and all the Originium plan bcs they don't even know that priestess is still the same or not, and no guarantee at all they will be safe there forever. they're all just coward and defeatist to concept of change

oh you don't even know much i want to take her hand and travel all across the land with her, met ppl she never knew and ideal she never had. the ppl she tried to find salvation all the same, to a peaceful slumber among flower beds all over the land.
i would let her sit down talk all day with someone like Kristen, Ho'ol, Mumu, Talulah, Yelena, Shu, Reed, Gladiia, WK, Arturia and so on. talk about all life, future and past. it will go into a debate even a heated one, but she will be glad to know it all, even happy. bcs trying to save life in the whole world but you haven't even see them by yourself is just too sad.
Only just now finished all lore-related stuff in Babel and..
I don't know. For the past month, as I slowly progressed through the Babel and Chapter 14, it feels like I get a knife in the heart every day. And by the time the wound stops bleeding and I come back the next day - I get another stab right in the same place 😥
"Civilight Eterna" as an "Operator" is another such stab.
She is not Theresa.
The people left their King and now she is no more...
5:55 WE ALL HAVE BLOOD ON OUR HANDS!!!!
Also Hi kuma
I like Theresa because of her personality as she's like a mother to everyone. Everything, else yes and im sad
Theresa is my favorite character, hands down
I am a loyal follower of Her Highness...Babel broke my heart 😢 And chapter 14 ripped it completely out 😭
Now I expect only two things from the game - a playable Talulah and the opportunity to avenge Theresa's death on all who were involved, all who have not yet paid for that...
Babel event and chapter 14 are one of the few times where i read the story and god...how i cried in these 2
That last reason is all I needed to hear, but, yeah, chapter 14 does an amazing job with the story, and W also gets some great development there
8:20 I'll add that she did a good act by wiping Doc's memory. She could have killed him, she could have, but she didn't because she saw his true nature and that he was a kind man. His decision to betray her seems very likely to have been caused by an outside influence on his personality.
I think she knew that the Doctor didn’t plan on living any longer than her. “Once I’m done, I’ll vanish into silence” and “unable to appear in our promised future.”
Wiping his memory wiped away the self-destructive impulses.
Who doesn't love Theresa?
Have you heard about cult of Priestess?
I've never resented my role as the MC as much as I did reading the story for Babel...
Theresa may have forgiven us, but I'm not sure I'm ready to.
I serious doubt she was able to convince to continue the project after he found out what it truly does.
Forgiving yourself is often the hardest thing to do
ONE OF US!
11:30 Horn, I love my heavy artillery.
After Babel & Ch. 14: "UWOOOGGHHH! I would kill and die for you, Your Highness"
Your last point convinced me. Thanks Kuma
Tenho a impressão de conhecer esse sotaque ai.... finalmente alguem que curte arknights no br
I've come to love home made fries now. I totally understand your point.
Spoilers but not really. I don't think it'll ruin anyone's experience of Ch 14
"Civilight Eterna" is Amiya's projection of Theresa based from her memories. It's directly named after the crown because it is _the_ information written on the crown about Theresa. It's also prolly the reason why the character design between Theresa and Civilight Eterna is significantly different yet still familiar
Its hard to see the choice the doctor has to make as hard, since the world belongs to the living even though eons of evolution and work as gone into it it still doesn't feel right.
it's not only that, the world is going to die anyway and we have multiple mentions of that, Originium or not everyone will die
Favorit charecter (Provence, because i am studiing to get the same job)
But lore whise i also really like Grey throat, because of the character development and showing how the struggle between non infected and infected can get along.
That's not Theresa.
@@5ynT4x_Error Which? The 'ghost' of Theresa we fight or CE?
@@OvertureSaintp2391 CE
@@5ynT4x_Error Ah! I wasn't referring to CE in my original post. I meant revived Theresa. Maybe I could've made that a bit clearer.
Oh no, Bear gamer is turning into Babel gamer and will succub to the Roach brainrot
Yes very true shes very human😭😭😭

frozen fries is actually better than fresh potatoes when it comes to making french fries
please, guide me to get all her potentials. I've cleated every level on the 14th chapter: normal;, event, and red event as well as Hidden Front but I still can't get her full potentials.
bring amiya into the first big laser boss, it will unlock a secret node at the end
Can you pls make a Theresa analysis + comparison to skadi alter 😬
analysis maybe, comparison, no

... though I disagree with your interpretation of her xD. ...which is actually great because Theresa has enough depth to allow for such disagreements.
CE: "I'm not Theresa"
Also CE: "I'm here. Oh this is my chair! Did I just watch my baby fighting?! I'm not going anywhere this time."
Yeah, sure.

Ashlock E0 art is kinda tight ngl
@tempota7792 I got her to e2 for the first time, saw she lost her armor and the plastic shell on her gunlance, and immediately swapped back to her e0 art lmao. I like her e2 art, but it doesn't have the Pinus Sylvestris swag
Me too bro... Me too

If you're making fries then you probably want to use frozen fries, but if someone is making a meal then you're probably better off getting potatoes and making a different potato dish. Sorry, I just heard the story and wanted to add my two cents.
out of curiosity, are you american?
@ yes
ok, W
how do you unlock her in chapter 14?
You basically need to complete the full chapter.
And for potentials you also need to clear couple stages with Amiya, as well as first two hell stages.
Is Theresa released for global?
yes, currently a welfare you can get after beating chapter 14

I, for one kuma, also think your friends are in wrong for wanting frozen fries instead of fresh smh
I do like her story alot. I would still choose Priestess over her, but still
Tbh, i do think she should've stayed dead, it feels like HG softened a bit compared to the early chapters, where people like Patriot and Frostnova, both massively important characters, died.
At least it's not full on revival, it's just an AI acting as her. And there's a limit on what AI can mimic, even if it's a small one, unless that crown is super advanced.
Still would.
I mean depresso gone too far tbh, at least it calmed down a bit
She's dead, we are never getting her back. What we have is not Theresa, she ain't even drawn by the same artist.
@@BlueClouding
Spoiler alert in case you haven't finished chapter 14 yet.
As a Priestess stan, it's on sight so watch out.
Nu! Reject Teri. Return to PRTS! Remember who you are Oracle!

Frostnova's better change my mind
Edit: seriously i want to see if anyone can change my mind
You first have to state why do you like Frostnova so much. I like her too but maybe for different reasons.
@aizeroth8858 that is not an easy thing to explain
@@cathylunn2809 Then how can you compare and contrast
Idk
@@cathylunn2809 Then you have no reason to say Frostnova is better than Theresa
Not that I don't like Frostnova she's amazing, both are good in their own ways
I still don't understand why didn't they make her pregnant and give birth before she die... Her bloodline is OP
🤨
