Proud owner here. It is a very nice guitar. I have had mine since 1969 . Early on when restring it,I tune it one step down from E to D. This is where I stretch my string out, and then tune up to E . As I was playing around with it tuned to D I liked the tone. I left it there and have been playing ever since in D standard tuning. Try it
