One guy who would definitely be in my top 15, though I understand why he's not in yours, is Chris Tanev. I think he's very underrated as a shutdown defenseman. And honestly, having watched him since he came into the league, I think he could easily be a 40 point guy if he were asked to play an offensive role. He has surprisingly good hands and half the time he ends up on the scoresheet it's because of some highlight reel play

Keep in mind, Bob was already a good international player and was good enough that he won the starting job from Varlamov at one point when the were team mates. Look at what they had to give the Canes to get rid of Bickell's contract. They gave up a great young kid in Teravainen to move that contract and only got a 2nd and a 3rd back. That's the cost of getting out of cap hell. So don't make it seem like the GM's of these teams were sitting around making horrible trades. They made the trades they were forced to make. After the WHA went down and the NHL took the Oilers in in1979, Gretzky would've been Draft eligible, but he signed a personal Services contract for the Oilers owner, because he didn't want to leave his Team and play for the Colorado Rockies, who had the 1st Overall Pick. As compensation, the Oilers and the other former WHA Franchises (Hartford, Winnipeg, Quebec) had to pick last in every round instead getting early picks like Expansion Teams normally do. It wasn't that bad for the Oilers because they still got Kevin Lowe, Mark Messier and Glenn Anderson in that Draft. Fun Fact: The 1979 Entry Draft might have been the most stacked Draft in NHL History: Next to the aforementioned Lowe, Messier and Anderson the Draft Class contained Ray Bourque, Michel Goulet, Mike Gartner, Dale Hunter, Guy Carbonneau, Neal Broten, Thomas Steen, Duane Sutter, Mats Näslund, Anton Stastny, Pelle Lindbergh and many more. From the first three rounds only three players never made a NHL appearance and most of the rest played multiple 100 games
Chris kunitz is not good man. Put him on a bad team and take away Crosby and he’s not touching his career numbers. It’s like abdelkader scoring 20 goals playing with Datsyuk. Putting him ahead of panarin is a strange choice
