My son just introduced me to this. And I'm thankful that he did. Also thankful he decided to change his life a few years ago. Honestly he and I both we're heading for for disaster. We'd lost his big brother and daddy to drugs. And we were going down the same path.. I must admit he does better than me but I'm working on my self discipline daily.. he is so encouraging to me . We both believe in God and I know I believe my Bible tells me the same thing. But sometimes we don't take the time to read every day and study as we should. Sure wish I'd actually started studying it a long , long time ago. Anyway just saying I'm so thankful for all thathave. Even for all the struggles I've been through. If we don't know how to except the rain , then how can we appreciate the beautiful sunshine.

We tend to punish those close to us for our own dark moods. They cannot read our minds well enough to avoid offending us. We lash out at them for the mistreatment we feel we’ve received from others who are not present. Misery and mistrust spread like an airborne virus.

“Don’t underestimate the value of moderate effort constantly applied” I’ve learned this lesson recently. My life has been in shambles for so long, and often I’d try to make massive changes that would crash and burn in a matter of no time at all. I’d start working out but try to lift the heaviest I possibly could, and eat the biggest 1200 calorie meals I could. What ended up happening was I would be so sore I could t walk, let alone workout again. And I’d be so full from eating I’d either puke it up later or not be able to eat again. Now I eat small 500 calorie meals whenever I can, with no real pressure or stress to do it by a certain time and find myself hungry all the time bc of it. This time I started with a much lower weight and slowly increase it by just 5 pounds every session, and now I find myself getting stronger than I ever have been, but never so sore I can’t workout again or get out of my car. I also used to put 20 workouts in my plan, go for 2 hours then never want to go again. Now I stick to just 5-7 fundamental workouts and I find myself able to be consistent in going to the gym on schedule. I’m putting in less effort more consistently and seeing better results. Now I can slowly increase the effort like I do my weights. Huge lesson

Love this channel and the 10:30 mark (mentioned below.) My wife was stressing about the election results (Still undecided as of this note) and I told her about stoicism which I was turned on to about 2 years ago from a team member at work. I'm helped me tremendously. Basically control what you can control, accept change, be a good person, help others and don't worry about the rest. One I repeat to myself when I'm ever being attacked is from Marcus Aurelius' which is..."Rise above insults, injuries & idiots..." I'm already teaching my kids about stoicism as well they totally get it.
