Julee Cruise sings like an angel. I had such the crush on her when I was young and heard her sing on Twin Peaks. You should hear her on Blue Velvet as well. This tune should be golden...
When I first heard this on Twin Peaks (I had already heard Mysteries of Love on Blue Velvet), I ran out and bought the cd and cassette. It is beyond beautiful. It has a forlorn, anguishingly beautfiul quality. One of my favorite songs ever.
Remembering this video how special it is to me! The city is thawing as my boots crunch on my iced over path and the woods are still. The mud and dirty leaves showing now from melting snow. I hear a voice as if someone I loved and and almost forgot had lifted a window and called out my name. The cold wind flows over Nightingale and I fly back to the nest to commune with God and owls out of sight. I do feel blood thawing in my veins and wings are warming unusually so. Love is surly coming alive!
With a voice as soft as a cool fall breeze, this is one of the most beautiful ballads that I have ever heard.....What happened to Julee? She seem's to have vanished off the face of the planet. I bought both of her mainstream CD's (they were that good!) based on hearing this tune alone & never regretted it. All the songs were amazingly impressive! This girl's range is right up there with Enya, (just a little jazzier). I hope she comes out with another compilation soon.
Yes, I always loved this song. I've always had a love-hate relationship with David Lynch over the years, and that goes for Angelo Badalamenti too. I felt they really started to cater to people's baser element with "Wild At Heart." "Blue Velvet" is my favorite because they peeping tom is the good guy!
I would listen to 'Nightingale" as I would be flying through the nite usually to another of the world's conflicts . I would be looking at the lights below imagining this song and I too had found that love instead of heading again into harm's way. A meloncholy thought but maybe just maybe......as in the song.....someday.....

I respect Julee Cruse, probably the only woman who currently performs music from this era without making it sound like "Greensleaves" or "Scarborough Fair".
A few years ago I was on a train on my way to a date and I was listening to this song. When I met up with my date we walked across town and we had to stop and wait to cross a road - I still had this song stuck in my head - and a nightingale landed on the streetlamp above us and started signing. An omen, perhaps?

One of the big reasons I was a big fan of Twin Peaks was the music. Its amazing.

Oh my god...
@evelina458 It was the one person that cried so much by this song he didn't see the screen and pressed the wrong button.
Where did you get the picture at 1:27?
Only JB could...
That is just horrible editing.. to bad for such a nice song..
