    I'm a non-scientist. The NS-NS collision event is my all-time favorite astronomy event. There are just so many cool details that are related to it, from the pre-event preparation, how the source was located, to the absurd (in a good way) number of physicists on the follow-up papers, and the heavy element origin discovery, just to name a few. Too cool!

    Question as I'm trying to research and find a citation sort of thing as I progress here. You mentioned the LIGO discovery and the Fermi Lab observation with gamma rays. Were the x-rays from the satellite discovered at the same time as the LIGO observation of gravitational waves from the same source? Is there anything published that's free to access on that?
    Secondly I've seen the chart for Livingston vs the other observatory. I think I've seen some edited version somewhere hence the confusion. Is the lower plot time-energy and the smaller one above time-frequency? I ask as there is no label for energy but frequency only. Having a DSP background is why I ask for clarification.

      Yes, the gamma rays seen by the Fermi satellite were detected seconds after the gravitational waves were detected from GW170817, the colliding neutron stars. See LIGO's superb webpage on the discovery at www.ligo.caltech.edu/page/press-release-gw170817

      @@advancedligodocumentarypro442 thanks! I need to look into that further but at least I've got a reference to use and something to tinker with maybe. Certain things I can infer intuitively from a visual, but actual numbers are ideal.

      @@advancedligodocumentarypro442 OK actually looking at those exact images you cite, OMG. 😥👍 Uhmm...that prima fascia goes inline conceptually so freaking perfectly with something I'm "trying" to accomplish.
      This gives concrete evidence to something in specific. 👍😥 I swear I'm crying tears from relief, shock and other hinderances like sabitage and intellectual property theft. This also gives me peace of mind for something I'm slated for that I wanted to look into further before blowing someone's tax money needlessly. Those labels? Those axes? Boom!!! 👍

    My prediction: Someday the LIGOs will detect a neutron star merger like this, but astronomers will NOT see any electromagnetic radiation from it. The reason will be that Dark Matter is just like ordinary matter, but it is separated from our observable universe by some distance in a 4th spatial dimension that does NOT transmit electromagnetic energy, and is therefore Dark. This event will show that our universe is just one of several universe layers spread out on this 4th dimensional axis. These layers will include universes made of ANTI-MATTER, which balances out the ordinary matter in our universe and in other layers of the universe. The gravitational potential energy that is embodied in the separation of these universe layers is a potential source of Dark Energy, which is accelerating the expansion of the universe as the layers are squeezed together by gravity and release their potential energy into kinetic energy. This hypothesis answers several questions, including the missing anti-matter and the source of Dark Energy, without messing up the Standard Model of subatomic particle physics.

    Thanks for the reply. What you suggested was of great help. However, someone crooked in the NSA whose trying to sell nuclear secrets interfere, and the IG from the CIA allowed it to happen in part over persecution of religion and extortion to me-in part is my stolen PhD from MIT. 😥

    The spacetime curvature wave travels with the speed of c, the electromagnetic waves travels a bit slower due to refractive index of the rest atoms in the almost perfect vacuum in space, a few seconds later after 150 000000 years. Now you can calculate the amount of matter in this space. Do it, after all you get paid to do research, lazy crappers
