Important updates: - There's some weird behavior with the OSD. If you enable local dimming, VRR is greyed out, but if you enable VRR first, you CAN enable local dimming, but it'll then turn off VRR itself. I hadn't noticed this during gaming on this (a 4090 doesn't exactly struggle), but this is a possible issue and I'm waiting for CM to answer if this is a bug or intentional. - I see some comments (here and on reddit) about the "low" 2371:1 contrast. Remember this is with FALD set to LOW (which is the best overall experience imho), but most importantly this is in SDR Content! So in HDR with a much higher brightness it would normally be ~3x higher, if not more.
27 is the perfect sweet spot for a working monitor. The bigger you go the less density so the resolution starts making less sense, yet the GPU has to move the same amount of pixels anyway.
If they did this in 32" (and maybe tightened the colour profiles a smidge) I'd get this in a heartbeat. My PC and Monitor are 7 years old now so I need something new xD
I'm still using 10 years old PC with 9 years old monitor. Planning to buy new one next year but I will grab this monitor little brother (1440p) next month
Very good overview of the screen. Thanks. Can't wait for the release of display port 2.1 compatible screens. I hope you will be the first to present one to us😊👍.
That's very tempting for me. I've been looking for a monitor in the 27" - 32" range that has at least 120hz at 1440p or 4K resolution, while delivering a true HDR1000+ experience. I saw that there was a 1440p variant, but no HDMI 2.1 for consoles. I might wait just a little longer to see how the rest of the monitor space evolves.
now imagine how good a 23.8" 1440p 240Hz MiniLED (with 576 Zones & local dimming enabled in SDR) monitor with properly tuned response times (and with variable overdrive) would be for competitive gaming 🤩
I find it odd it only reaches VA panel contrast levels despite having mini LED. I can't really fathom how that's possible as the zones can turn completely off...
WTF, waited all year for exactly this specs :o And now it just pops up randomly?! 4K, 160 Hz, MiniLED with proper HDR and local dimming, below 1.000$? Wow, take my money ^^ price and brightness def. make it a great pick!
I like the idea of this monitor on paper but the package the monitor is in feels quite taki. While I don't mind some RGB I don't really like it on monitors. The flimsy frame and large bezels aren't that nice either.

I think this is my new monitor purchase which I’m looking for now 🥳✊. Thank you Nada for this monitor review and it came at the perfect time for me 🥳🎉. The USB hub, Type-C 90w charging and 2x HDMI 2.1 inputs is a massive bonus for me 🤩🤯!
Disable scaling on the monitor (if possible) enable scaling on the gpu and make sure to tick integer scaling. Should be pixel perfect 1080p but on 27 inch so not perfect but not bad either.
Seems like a great more affordable entry into HDR monitors. It does seem like IPS really needs at least twice as many dimming zones as a VA panel to get the same level of contrast. Not all scenes have blacks so it probably looks great in brightly lit scenes.
Great review! I was close to purchasing their 1440p model GP27Q... But I had not realized the slower latency of them in comparison to well known IPS monitors... that's a no-no for competitive play. I guess Mini-LED still has some catchup to do in that department. But for non-competitive gameplay, these seem awesome!
I don't like hearing that IPS LED panels are immune to failure by bringing up it's strength that it won't get burn in. Dead pixels and LED zone failure are a common thing with Mini-Led architecture.

Always happy to clarify if something is unclear :) But no, it means that on a 100% window (basically a full screen white image) it can do 1385 nits. When given a 1000 nits signal it's measuring 729 nits. This is pretty normal / good scaling.

Blooming, also known as the halo effect, is a display artifact that occurs when light from isolated bright objects on a screen bleeds into darker areas surrounding it. This creates a sort of a halo around the object, hence the name “halo effect.”
The Alienware doesn't have as high of a resolution total, has a risk (or guarantee over a long period of time) of burn-in, has pixel sharpness issues on desktop use, lower peak brightness, and is more expensive.

What is the disadvantage of local dimming? Only blooming?
It often lags behind pixel response time.
Blooming is not a disadvantage, because without it you just wouldn’t have blacks.
Blooming, also known as the halo effect, is a display artifact that occurs when light from isolated bright objects on a screen bleeds into darker areas surrounding it. This creates a sort of a halo around the object, hence the name “halo effect.”
The only REAL problem with this monitor is backlight dying afrer 6-8 months of use, i dont know how KTC or AUO made that kind of mistake...
No comparisons to the Neo G7 in the charts?
Edit: Wait, has this channel done a Neo G7 review?
is it better than gigabyte m27u?
For HDR absolutely. If you don't care about HDR the M27U is a safe all-round choice.
Would the GP27U be a better choice over the Sony Inzone M9?
No, get the M9
Yes
@@SeaSphynx Why? Isn't that just another mini-LED IPS panel except with like 500 fewer dimming zones?
@@LucidStrike M9 has 96 dimming zones to be exact. That monitor is $100 more and doesn't come with the feature set of this one.
@@SeaSphynx Yeah get it if you like Sonys Schlong in your mouth
Are u guys preferring this one instead of the Alienware qd oled?
this one is 4k its up to you, what u want? 4k ?
The Alienware doesn't have as high of a resolution total, has a risk (or guarantee over a long period of time) of burn-in, has pixel sharpness issues on desktop use, lower peak brightness, and is more expensive.
Oled still has weakness with burn in and prices
Can you please answer this Q: was your measurements for response time with local dimming active ?
Considering you don’t ever want to turn off LD with this monitor, I think so
Matte :)
why they have to put a big ass stand 😅 if they do it wider and the depth is smaller I m going to buy it😢
Anyone know where I can get that wallpaper? Thanks
I wonder this too!

Good review/monitor, but I would still go with an oled (had one for a monitor for over two years now, hard to go back).
Which OLED is 27"? Please show me

Hey I may have missed it but does anyone know how bright this gets in hdr after a calibration??
@danebeee She said 1400 nits, not sure if it’s before calibration or right out of the box.
@@mart182003 yeah I heard that I’m pretty sure that was before Calibrsting to a proper white point.
its calibrated from the factory you get a specsheet after you receive it in the box.
Is 4K even be possible to run at 160hz? What's the max supported hz for 4K I thought it was 120hz?
160Hz if you use DisplayPort. HDMI would be limited to 120Hz
You can run even 4k @ 240Hz if your monitor and gpu supports DSC.
RTX 4090 and 10900K said, yes, yes we can. Can you afford us?
@@WheeledHamster For older games you don't need such powerful gpu to get hundreds of frames on a 4k monitor.
