Leia is the youngest aritist under the management of Harrison Parrott from the age of 12.
(NOW) Fourteen-year-old British violinist Leia Zhu has performed with prestigious ensembles and orchestras across the globe, including Festival Strings Lucerne, Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Belgium.
She has played at the Salzburg, Lucerne, Rheingau Musik, Mozartfest Würzburg, White Nights and Trans-Siberian Art Festivals, to name a few, and her musical journey has also taken her to major concert halls across Europe, including the Royal Festival Hall, Brussels’ BOZAR, KKL Luncerne, Berliner Philharmonie, The Mariinsky Theatre and Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Concert Hall.
Zhu’s UK concerto debut came in February 2020 with the English Chamber Orchestra, with whom she performed Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Dvořák’s Romance under conductor Joseph Wolfe.
In 2019, she embarked on a two-week, six-city tour of Israel with the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble, and she has previously toured Switzerland and Germany with Festival Strings Lucerne, performed across the north of England as soloist with the English Philharmonic Ensemble, and toured Spain with the Los Angeles-based Classical Concert Chamber Orchestra. Special collaborations have included playing the 5th movement of Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole, conducted by Maxim Vengerov with the National Orchestra of Belgium at BOZAR in 2016, performing Sarasate’s Navarra for two violins with Noah Bendix-Balgley (concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) at the Berliner Philharmonie in 2017, and sharing the stage with Roby Lakatos in Monti’s Czardas, accompanied by the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, broadcast live to an audience of millions in 2018.

So many wonderful pieces over the years that I have followed you on TH-cam. Many years ago, a friend we met in New York named Julia Landaur (who is Chinese) said that she was an aunt of yours, and asked if we had heard of you, we hadn't. When we came home I looked you up on TH-cam and I think the first video was when you were practicing before you did the tour to Spain and was immediately hooked and have followed you ever since though sadly you don't post as often as you did when you were younger. This brought back memories of pieces I had forgotten and was a lovely showcase of how your talent has evolved. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I also think that A. Bazzini should've written [into] the piano part "piano / pianissimo ad lib" based on the performer's skill and also factoring in what their violin can achieve in terms of projection.

A nature phenomenon, undoubtedly. However, her intonation is not consistent to say the least. If not corrected real soon I expect her to vanish when adult.
And you expect that because of her intonation? Very interesting.
There has to be more to the story. Wealthy Chinese parents?
Can you injure yourself if you over exert yourself in violin? Never to play again?
she is talented, but too formal for the mainstream. most of the violinist are media shy, and the phenomenal vanessa mae was the first to play the instrument in well balance music. not too classical but relaxing. she's capable to bring the instrument out of the hall, which typically for the rich audiences 😀😀
Comparing Leia Zhu with Vanessa Mae is so degrading. Mae could hardly play the violin properly, therefore she resorted to mainstream marketing gimmicks, however, Leia shows technical and musical maturity beyond most people of her generation.

P.S. I notice she doesn't use it in the concert....
She seems to have such control (much better than a lot of adult musicians) where I don't see the point of the the C-bout protector unless the violin has been lent to here and the conditions are such where she HAS to keep it on..
