This is great! It’s exactly what I would imagine a Blood Meridian movie looking & feeling like. Love the incorporation of various separate scenes into one monologue. Bravo.
Good grief, man, why haven’t you gotten offers yet? Tobin’s weary, disillusioned, and seems reluctant to disclose the details of his time in the gang, and tries to keep his deeper emotions cloaked beneath humor, i.e., the Dutch story. Then he gets to the part about slaughtering the village, and you realize just how broken he is. I mean, this is a former man of God. So to realize that any trace of God’s voice has gone silent for him just for being a part of the massacre, well, now he feels he can do nothing else but continue. And-as Wendigoon pointed out-he seems to be protective of the Kid, maybe because he sees some trace of relative goodness in him, and he doesn’t want the Kid to become as broken as him. Speaking of the Kid, he’s very well-played. Despite being the youngest in the gang, I always felt like he was around 19, maybe 20, so young enough to be a kid in their ranks but old enough to count as one of them, so not a straight-up child. You can really tell that the Kid is still learning the ways of the world around him, and you get the sense that he’s starting to feel that he’s out of his depth. He’s a fish surrounded by sharks on all sides. That’s what I gleaned from him, anyway. And while the Judge isn’t there, he doesn't need to be; his influence is there. With Tobin’s explanation of how the Judge said to save powder and ammo, there’s a heavy implication that he gave the order for the sake of causing more brutality than simple bullets would. I could go on, but in short, if you had the funding and resources, I have no doubt you could make a Blood Meridian film adaptation (or failing that, a miniseries.) Sorry this went on so long, but there was a lot to say.
Thanks Grey. I appreciate your in-depth thoughts. I am not looking to make a film but am looking to be in one if it ever gets made. The word was that John Hilcoat was in the process of making the film adaptation however, right after that, McCarthy died so ... who knows? McCarthy was on the team supposedly. It may never happen. Alas.
I understand. It's not supposed to be a movie of Blood Meridian. We merely wanted to make something as filmmakers and actors (shot during the actor strike) and we love McCarthy's stories. We meant no disrespect to the man or his story.
@@jaysonwsmith i didn't mean anything against the acting or the set just the atmosphere was off to me but I've spent countless hours reading listening to and thinking about this book so I have a strong head cannon but I think for what it is you did an excellent job

Thank you Stephen!
This is fantastic
Thank you!
Well done! Do you have more in the works?
No. It's just a one-off. However, John Hilcoat is supposedly making a feature.
And thanks!
Very well done. That infant part was really hard to listen to
Yeah. Cormac McCarthy is brutal. Thanks for commenting and watching.

This is so far off
