The USN is way behind the Europeans in low frequency active VDS. The hull-mounted SQS-53C is indeed powerful but it obviously can't get below the layer. The new SQS-62 LFA VDS is coming in the next few years and will be on FFG-62. It differs from CAPTAS-4/Type 2087 in that the VDS and array are combined into a single towed body. They should backfit SQS-62 onto the Flight IIA Burkes IMO.
Yeah, I doubt the AN/SQS-62 can be carried by the Burkes. It's very large and will require some kind of stern door to operate which the Burkes doesn't have. The LCSes and FFG-62 have a large stern door to launch the AN/SQS-62 VDS.

The speed is not important as some internet people like to think, especially for ASW since silence is more important. However, the lack of power is a problem to properly operate all the electrical systems on board, and potentially even worse for future upgrades like laser weapons etc... because it is terrible situation when you have to turn off some equipment so that other equipement can operate optimally. I guess it's a green way of doing naval warfare 😈

Quite a shame if you’d ask me, having one of the world stealthiest and the best ASW frigate to control the North West Passage would have been a plus.

They will overlook and be responsible for the build of a ship that's developped by both french and italian actors. Note that ship components also come from both countries.

The point americans forgot, by doing that, they're only going to get the Italian technologies and electronics systems, which aren't as good as the French ones. It was a mistake from Naval Group, to share their platforms knowledge, because now Italians are winning contracts over France, proposing cheapest deals, but inferior versions as well. French FREMM are still better and superior than Italian ones, that's why they're more expensives. Results have been proven by winning many times these competitions.
