    Not wanting to be too melodramatic, sometimes I'd prefer to leave a "love" than a "like". This is one of those times.

    I just realized that whenever the solo part hits a note, that note has an extra animation whereas the other parts don't. Most noticeable during the calm part in the middle around 1:55

    • @smalin
      @smalin  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I've programmed in many languages since I first started working on this project (in the early 1980s), and my current view is: the language doesn't make much difference. If I were to identify the one thing in my educational background that made the most difference in being able to do this sort of thing (other than being a musician/composer) is: analytic geometry.

    Artistically, this is spectacular. A follower for years, I embarrassingly haven't visited for years but, Smalin, you have evolved. Some don't understand how much thought goes into this - do you have automatic technical assistance with the highs/lows? I've featured your Vivaldi's Winter from 2010 on a play list since '11 and have subscribed ever since. As a fellow artist, thank you for bringing color to the classics.

    • @smalin
      @smalin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @MiguelNovoaTV

      Obviously I was excited and quite verbose hence the excessive jargon. With that, I have been left with strong precautions to never leave another comment of praise; and to avoid being so hyper or happy with your pieces that I can't remember the words "software assistance". My intentions were good and that's all that matters. Thanks for the site.

    • @smalin
      @smalin  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say "software assistance" do you mean do I have help writing the software, or do you mean does the software help me create the animations? I'm not being critical; I just don't understand what you're saying.

    Not sure about the technique. Adding in the lines, whilst visually brilliant, adds a level on interpretation and introduces connections that are arguably completely arbitrary and may or may not exist.

    • @smalin
      @smalin  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel that my animations are more closely related to the music (and less arbitrary) than a lot of ballet I've seen. Would you make the same comment about ballet? And if not, why not?

    • @starpawsy
      @starpawsy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@smalinI'm not saying that your interpretations are "bad". Absolutely not. Merely that you are adding to the music and thus creating something that is intrinsically "not there". Certainly I agree with you that to a very large extent your visulatisations are very "natural" and thus are definitely adding to the visual appreciation of the music.
      Early in the piece you had lines crossing over. I thought that a little ... "startling", as in my opinion, the sound and feel of the music itself does not suggest crossing over there. Although I am not familiar enough with this piece so I could be outright incorrect there. Obviously to you it did.
      Would I make the same comment about ballet? I have zero interest in ballet thus know nothing about it so I cant comment. However, I do believe that ballet music is written FOR ballet, so that is entirely different, where you are creating an interpretation afterwards. Again, that is not necessarily a "bad" thing.
      Overall, I do like what you have done. I have not seen any of the other visualisers do that and it is certainly very interesting. I shall certainly look for more of your work.
