    I was questioning staying in nutrition because I heard dietitians say that they felt they didn’t make an impact or their work wasn’t difficult or interesting but this totally changed my mind! What you do sounds absolutely interesting and humbling and it’s reinvigorated my desire to continue with a nutrition degree. Guess it’s all just perspective. 🤗

    • @Ezvu
      @Ezvu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      bro, are u going the general nutrition route or doing the dietetics emphasis route? and yea this field is expected to grow ALOT in the next coming years.

    • @spencer5113
      @spencer5113 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ezvu the dietetics emphasis most likely because from what I hear it opens a lot more doors to be a certified clinical dietitian for not only being able to do hospital work etc. but increasing opportunities in business nutrition, sports nutrition etc.

    GIRRRRRRL LMAO I FEEL YOU. I work in ICU and I get so overwhelmed with pt’s conditions and going through notes from the interdisciplinary team etc
    but it’s so rewarding when you finally find a solution to help the pt recover and progress into a better state. grateful for ya dietitians ✨✨

    This was so awesome to hear about. As a vegan dietetic student starting my internship in a few months, I’m terrified, so it’s really nice to see somebody so similar to me who’s made it through!! Please keep sharing these stories with us, how you get through the hard days, what you do when you feel like you don’t know anything or feel like you aren’t qualified, how you balance a healthy lifestyle with a full time work life, all of that! ❤️

  • @lilliannugent1759

    I'm laughing so hard because I did my undergrad in nutrition and remember all of the case studies...they were nothing like this poor patient! Gosh that is so much calculation and consideration because of all of the conditions! You go girl!!!

  • @pearlmiran205

    GIRL
    I FEEL YOU
    i'm a new nurse (i've commented on your videos before!), and i work on a cardiac tele med-surg/stepdown unit. my patients are all medically complicated, plus have had surgery on top of it, so nutrition is a huge issue. fluid, electrolytes, nutrition, wounds, and the general trauma of going through surgery.... it's all a hot mess on the daily LOL i respect what you and the dietetic team and nutrition team have to say and advocate for SO MUCH, and even moreso now. :)

  • @nancyfree6668

    Hey Lady,
    First...I absolutely appreciate your videos and thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and story on SM.
    Second...I've always had an interest in diet and nutrition but never really knew where to go to school or how to get started.
    I currently live in Chicago, unfortunately life got very complicated and I didn't finish HS but ended up getting my GED (LONG STORY!!).
    I do plan on going back to school to finish my gen eds. I've been looking into two online courses and would like to know your thoughts on them. If you happen to know anything about them. They're more of a health coach certification.
    The first one is - Integrative Nutrition (IIN)
    The second is - Nutritional Therapy Association
    I'm also open to hearing any other recommendations to get started!
    I would totally appreciate your input!!

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I am a sophomore dietetics student right now and this was a good look into the day of a dietitian. When I look to the future I get so scared about getting an internship and then eventually a job. What are some tips you have for getting matched? Also, do you find life as a dietitian now more or less stressful than being a student?

  • @christydalgaard
    @christydalgaard 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    hi, can i still become a dietitian if i only majored in nutrition and food science and not dietetics emphasis? is there an alternate path like a coordinated masters degree program that includes the internship? i dont wana go back and get a second bachelor's degree lol

    • @taciturntaty
      @taciturntaty 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi! i actually just finished my dietetic internship soo in order to be eligible for an internship you have to take certain core classes. there’s what they call DPD course list and there are nutrition classes and science classes that are required so if you majored in something else you wouldn’t have to go back and get another degree in dietetics but if there are classes you haven’t taken from the list then you do have to go back for those.

    • @taciturntaty
      @taciturntaty 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i’m not sure about any masters degree accelerated programs, i haven’t heard of any BUT although it’s not required right now they are changing it in a few years where in order to become an RD you will need a Masters degree so that’s something to think about as well

    • @Ezvu
      @Ezvu 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@taciturntaty i heard that too, in 2024 right? and thanks for the info i appreciate it

    • @Ezvu
      @Ezvu 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Simone205 guess we just gotta do the extra bio and chem and few other classes then do the internship. we should have a lot of the prereqs done so it shouldnt be that bad i guess.. what jobs were u able to find just with the food science degree if u dont mind me asking.

    • @natalie4191
      @natalie4191 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ezvu yes, there are masters programs that have coordinated dietetic internships. UW & UNC are two examples of programs that have these type of programs. These offerings will likely expand as we approach the date when all RD’s need to have a masters degree. Best of luck!
