Mittar Pyaare Nu is a beautiful SHABD by Guru Gobind Singh ji recited in the Machhivara forest when the master was separated from his family, facing atrocities all around him, Guru Sahib ji in this shabd yearns for remembrance of Waheguru despite of the extreme hardships and tough times. Gurdas Maan says “he feels blessed that he got an opportunity to sing this beautiful shabd by our 10th Guru and lend his voice to it”.

I can feel this pain. My grandfather's sister got killed by mob on dabwali railway station during partition. I remember how my grandparents miss their birthplace (jhujhnu rajasthan) till end of their life. Now their is no point to hate each other lets love and respect each other.

VIDEO: The story is a back and forth transition of two stories: Story 1 is where a Sikh man blindfolds his son to protect him from the darkness of the world while he pulls a pyre carrying the dead body of his (the man) mother (possibly due to being victim of a hate crime, falling from starvation or fatigue from strenuous journey imo) from Pakistan (previously part of Punjab) to Delhi during the PARTITION OF 1947 in India and Story 2 is where that Sikh man is now old and blindfolds his granddaughter from the darkness of the world while he pushes a van carrying the dead body of his son (possibly a victim to violence on Sikhs from enraged Hindu community imo) to bury it somewhere away from the angry mobs during the SIKH GENOCIDE OF 1984. And the video ends with the granddaughter grown up and giving a speech at an international conference with representatives from many first world countries. She speaks of creating a world where we don't have to blindfold our children from the darkness and can live in peace instead of death being the only place to obtain peace. SONG: Sikhs sing the prayer "Mittar Pyare Nu" to tell Waheguru of their plight from being separated from him and a life without Waheguru. In this video, the Sikh man sings this prayer in remembrance of Waheguru despite the hardships he goes through.
PERSONAL OPINION: This is a beautifully executed music video by Gurdas Maan on two of the many cruel events Sikhs were victim to throughout history of Sikhism. Using a heart-breaking and realistic story with this prayer made the pain of the Sikhs of 1947 and 1984 more raw. I connected with them and was crying a waterfall. This video made me feel proud to be a Sikh, reminded me of our history, grew my love for my faith, and encouraged me to help many Sikhs who are still victim to hate crimes and/or the government today. Thank you Gurdas Maan Ji!

Every religion will have good people and bad people. I have heard of stories where Hindus, Muslims and others hid Sikhs during the 1984 Sikh genocide. I started listening to this song at 4.30 am and it is now 5.13 am - I work early and I have tears in my eyes as I write this post. I know no Punjabi; but to me this prayer is the lament of one soul to another seeking, no pleading for understanding - asking "what wrong have I inflicted on you that you kill me and mine?" - if ever there was a prayer from our Soul to the Creator seeking understanding this is it. There are many beautiful Sikh prayers but non as powerful as this one.

I am new to Sikhi and my Ancestral history parallels, in many ways, the History of Sikhism. There are times in your life when you recognise the Truth when you see or hear it, and my finding the Essence of Sikhism was just such a moment. Without knowing the language, without knowing the Scriptures, without knowing the daily prayers and practices I knew I had found my true spiritual home - the place where, after 72 years of life, I finally found spiritual peace, Many of the practices of my Ancestors are similar to that of Sikhism, some of the Sikh practices should be - One day I would love to discuss the direct link of my people and the Sikh communities of this world - it is viewed from a different angle; but if my people had not existed there would not have been Christianity, or Islam, of Sikhism in the form it is today; for they all have a dynastic link, all are the same but the revelation for each occurred in different times and in different circumstances. I still need to think this through, but it could be a very interesting intellectual discussion - for in my view it all started with our common Ancestor Abraham the first man to recognise the existence of the One G-d. I am, if you had not already guessed it, Yehudi - a deeply religious people with a long history and relationship to G-d. Sikhism, in my eyes, is the latest incarnation of our belief of G-d, and the most logical - I feel privileged to be accepted so warmly into the Sikh community.

I remembered the days of1984 , when these riots happened. We were very protective about our Sikh brethren. We used stay wake in the nights to guard against the rioters. They used to make tea and be with us all night.

There were people like you that helped my family survive. A muslim family hid my grandpa's younger brother in their cupboard when we was running away n my dad had to build a fortress of bricks around his colony with his hindu friends to save my family n other sikhs. Thanku on their behalf.

As a Muslim I believe we are human being first, this video bring tears on my eyes really heart touching, we have to learn from history that millions of people were died due to dispute. But still lots of idiot people nowadays take the advantage of religion and kill people in the names of Merciful God. Respect bro Gurdaas Mann a good message given to the viewers through this song.
I have a few observations after watching this Song:
1. This is in no way depicting violence on one particular religion, it's just showing how violence affects everybody he/she may be a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or belong to any other religion.
2. For all the people hating on other punjabi singers, for not singing meaningful songs, it's because people don't listen to these kind of Songs. This is sung beautifully by Gurdas Mann and the video is beautiful as well, so there shouldn't be any excuse for this song to have such less views.
3. For those saying Gurdas Mann goes to masta or does not follow Sikhism, I feel like it's his choice to how he wants to affect the Lives of the people, Do you think, if you have done good and there is a God he will Judge you because you did good supporting some other belief. What matters is, he is helping people.
I know this is very Long and probably I am too late to comment but I had to post this especially after what's happening in India right now.
