    great pick, the pats must start looking for bradys replacement if they want a smooth transition when brady retires. This kid looks quite good, it will be fun watching goroppolo and him fight for the start. Welcome to the best team in the league.

      Looks quite good? Most of these highlights are of him running around. And most of the passing ones show terrible mechanics throwing off the back foot.

      Never heard of your name on any roster as a QB or coaching staff. He looked accurate AF to me

    • @dvm590
      @dvm590 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andy Tihonow I seen that also but mechanics can be taught where as instincts and natural athletics are harder to teach.

    • @shanapiv
      @shanapiv 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy Tihonow thats irrelevant. Yes, even in the NFl. Its all about awareness and getting the ball from point a to point b. If hes moving the ball who cares about mechanics, besides the pats are the smartest team in all of sports. If his mechanics were that bad and they knew he couldnt improve, they would have never drafted him.

    • @yomama14ism
      @yomama14ism 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which is funny because Adam schefter wouldn't shutup about how bad he was at throwing the long ball. 15 of 43 college td over 50 yards including 5 in one game. 23 were 40 plus and 32 were 20 plus. He's got a lot of potential. As a state fan who watched him for 2 years I'm glad he gets to learn from Brady and I became a part time patriots fan the second his name was announced

    As a Patriot I was impressed by his maturity and poise. Starting against a top defense at the NFL level with only a preseason and 2 weeks of practice under his belt the kid had every right to be nervous but he didn't make any mistakes on the field, he showed a cool head, good judgment and the ability to make intelligent choices quickly.
    Now imagine if he'd actually had time to learn the playbook and practice with his receivers to get his timing down with them.
    Needs to make decisions a little quicker to be a real premium NFL quarterback and his accuracy left something to be desired at the NFL level (I think that might be a timing issue with his receivers too) but Jacoby Brissett has already shown me at least enough to convince me that he's got a future in the NFL. And personally I think he's an NFL starter. Maybe not a superstar, but a solid Matt Schaub tier starter.

    Why's everyone so down on this pick? Yeah, he may not be very athletic and doesn't throw the deep ball very well. But, he has near-perfect intangibles: the character, intelligence, and competitiveness. The last quarterback like that that we drafted has been doing pretty well for us, so far. Just a thought.

    This pick really isn't bad. with Brady's contract extension Garoppolo will likely leave before Brady does. So Brissett maybe be expected to take the torch in the future. Plus Jimmy G needs a backup for this season. And if nothing else they can trade him up for something else. I like this pick.

      I agree Booker or Dixon would of been a good fit for us. I think DJ foster is more a RB than a WR so I hope it works out for him and could do with Dion Lewis coming back quick and having an injury free season big risk though. It just shows we will have another season with no running game Gronk and Edelman need to stay injury free and hope Mitchell can make an immediate impact.

    • @bossmaniacgames
      @bossmaniacgames 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      the wr's core is already stacked and mitchell was picked up in the 4th and for rb's bill usually finds good ones as undfa's and doesn't really waste picks on them because remember lawrence marooney. and after jimmy g plays the 4 games he will be traded for a pretty high pick like a 2-3 rounder to another team and brisset will move up to the 2nd string qb.

    I don't know if he can catch or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if he plays tight end a little. Bill has a history of putting people at positions they didn't play in college, (Jamie Collins, Julian Edelman, Devin Mccourty), but it's not likely. He's an intriguing prospect though, reminds me of Cam Newton or Ben Roethlisberger.

    I love the pick, due to the Patriots not having a mobile QB. Every team should have a QB that can be mobile and one that can stay in the pocket and slang it down field. We'll see what he can bring to the table in the first 4 games.

      +Hang Man Mobile qbs are nice but rather not have my qb running downfield with dudes trying to take his head off lol

      I definitely agree, but there's so many formations you can run with him and Brady in the huddle.

    I like this pick, just not the position. If we go on to draft Ridgeway DT and Dixon RB.. Then it won't matter. But he's Cam Newton like. He's a big boy

    • @JonsAppleTree
      @JonsAppleTree 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish we either addressed WR or RB in day 2. At least we got our other needs though. I think we should've just signed a guy like hoyer to backup Jimmy. Round 3 is way too high to draft a guy who will be our 3rd QB

    • @thewiseone5879
      @thewiseone5879 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jon Beaudet I do as well, but I'm not worried. A lot of talent on the board. We have like five 6th round picks. We need to trade up and get two 4th round picks.
      RB: Kenneth Dixon, Jordan Howard, Devonte Booker. .
      WR: Alonzo Russell, Keyarris Garrett, Cody Core, Mitch Mathews, De'Runnya Wilson..
      Tbh I think we are set at RB. I'm under the impression that having two all pro caliber TEs, bringing back the genius O line coach and adding depth is gonna help the rubbing game. We know what Lewis can do when healthy. With a better O line Blount and White will improve as well. So we really don't need a RB. Pats use a variety of RBs throughout the season. But if we can get a guy like Russell, Core or Garrett. The offense will be unstoppable

      +The Uncle Drew He's not Cam Newton, Newton runs a 4.5 40 and this guy ran a 4.9, Newton is a runner this guy isn't.

    • @thewiseone5879
      @thewiseone5879 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      jason gruntkosky Read the comment again. . Never said he was. . I clearly said, "Cam Newton like." And he is a runner because he has the ability to make people miss in the second level and escape sacks. And actually he has a chance of being better than Cam from the jump. I don't trust Cam as a passing QB. He legs is the only thing that helps his arm. He still makes bad reads and relies on his huge targets far too much. This guy has proved he can make the necessary reads.

    Lets be honest, most of the people on here not liking the pick is because they dont like the thought of a Patriot Starting QB being black. Especially after TB12. Boston is still Boston.
    Even the the ones who say decent things about him compare him to OTHER black QB's!!" a slower Cam" " a horrible Cunningham" theres been Thousands of QB's and maybe 20 black ones ..and they pick the black ones to compare him to. I LIKE THIS PICK! As a Patriots Fan i am HAPPY! and i compare him to a Roethlisberger... Chew on that haters!

    • @jasongruntkosky6604
      @jasongruntkosky6604 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Goldenboy617 It isn't racist to compare him to other black QB's numbskull. He who has one finger pointing at others, has 3 pointing back at themselves.

    • @Knyghtrida
      @Knyghtrida 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      jason gruntkosky No its not..you're right. It is IF those are the ONLY QB's you compare him too. Numb skull.

    • @peteypab16
      @peteypab16 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Goldenboy617 here's the thing, there's not many white QBs that have that sort of elusiveness and speed. Big Ben is a great comparison, but he's clearly a lot more athletic than ben.

    • @FranticPress

      FranticPress Don't know what part i said makes me a "fool" to you. But ive already compared him to Ben in another post. In fact a few scouts have already said that also.

    I like Jimmy G, but this guy has the physical tools coaches dream for. He needs a little work and could turn into a player like Winston. I say we keep Jimmy G this year to start if Brady stays suspended. Then Brissett and Jimmy can compete all year to get better and we trade Jimmy for a 2nd or 3rd rounder. It is a good time to be a Pats fan!
