@@theiconicmetallurgy Madam, please provide exact data. In Battery-11, 9 and 10, there are 67 ovens which are 7 mettes tall. In Smaller Batteries (4.3 Mt tall), there are 65 ovens. Fully operational battery has 65 working ovens.

In the process of coke making in the non recovery ovens, volatiles evolved during coal carbonization are not recovered as by-products but are combusted in the oven itself in the presence of controlled quantity of air and the heat of the volatiles of evolving gases is utilized for coking of the coal mass into coke and thus no external heating is required.
The heat is generated by the combustion of volatile matter which is then penetrated into the coal mass through radiation from the oven top and also by conduction.

Normal coking period is 18 hours. That means, Coal gets fully converted into coke during this 18 hours period. More than 20 hours coking period is necessary in case of sick ovens or ovens with higher width. If there is delay due to breakdowns, then also coking period goes beyond 20 hours.
@@theiconicmetallurgy In BSP or wherever there is coke oven, the coal to coke conversion takes about 17 to 18 hours. Some extra time is required as soaking time to get the coke mass temperature stable before pushing. This is required for maintaining coke quality.

Both water and nitrogen is used for quenching , but nitrogen is very good because it does not leaves moisture bht water leaves moisture

Nitrogen is used in dry quenching only in Battery-11. In other Batteries 1 to 10, only water is used for coke quenching.

In nonrecovery coke making, all the gases are burnt inside the ovens. This burning of gas above the coal charge supplies heat for coke making.
