It's really nice hearing about the language from someone learning it (Dongie) and someone who speaks it pretty well (you). I feel like I'm learning some building blocks if I ever decided to study it, but it's also just really interesting. I have so much respect for Handong. Living in a second or third language already takes _so_ much passive energy because you can never turn your brain off, right? So having to do that in front of thousands of fans every day? Yeah.
Worth noting that Kit (Insomnicsy) taught herself Korean so she even admits that she doesn't always get everything right. She's Cantonese but doesn't speak it. Not sure what her native language actually is
Yoohyeon has a talent for languages that is really amazing. It's not just English, but any language she wants to try. She picks up the sound and flow of other languages very quickly. Maybe it's related to her vocal abilities, I don't know, but she's never studied outside of Korea. Even languages where she only has a few words, she gets the accent right. Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Indonesian, doesn't matter. Japanese was difficult for me because of the very odd written language with the two types of Japanese symbols plus Chinese characters thrown in here and there, but pronunciation was straightforward and not hard for an English speaker. It's all the trouble you can get into with Korean pronunciation that's a little scary. Koreans have a highly developed sense of humor and I always wonder if it's because of the language. You can be insulted by a mistake or just laugh. Koreans tend to laugh, a lot. Of course, if you're incredibly cute you can say whatever you want.
Hi! Audio and video is okay! I really like yout videos because you're not just reacting and expressing your thougts but also show us like the inside(?)/Korean part of everything! This is so ineresting to got to know this nuances.

Ah, you hit the vital point. When people speak normally in any language they slur the words so meaning comes from the context of the conversation. That's even more true for Korean since it's a completely contextual language and English isn't contextual at all. The romanization of Korean adds another level of confusion because it often seems very arbitrary and seems like it was the opinion of whoever dreamed it up in the first place. The 'dd' in ddong sounds more like a 't' sound to me. The language has changed since Korean opened up to the West, especially since 1950 with the beginning of the era of close ties with America. The whole thing should probably be redone. Some of the things I say are just my sense of humor which may not come through the internet clearly. My theory is that the Korean language developed so that people could insult each other and then pretend it was a pronunciation error, say 'please don't misunderstand' then everything is fine. That was a joke 😁I should probably use more emojis.
I like the long DC videos with the breakdowns and explanations. It sets you apart from others… the breakdowns and explanations I mean, not the long videos lol. InSomnia tends to like long videos. If there was a multi-season supernatural tv series about Dreamcatcher, we would watch that too lol. Dude, I DID NOT hear the difference between big neck/mosquito even when you slowed it down lol and some of the others that you explained. I would totally suck if I went to Korea lol. But that’s what I like about this video, someone can see and hear the subtle differences or not and realize how difficult it is to learn especially on the spot with cameras on you and still do the job as in Dongie’s case and maybe gain a new respect for Dongie and all the work she has done to learn a different language in that situation and also the members for helping and including her. I never thought Dongie was shy or insecure or anything like that, I just saw her as someone trying to learn. Great respect to Dongie and to everybody who goes to a different country and learns a new language as best as possible while still having to live and work. I’m excited for part 2 and other Dreamcatcher videos. Thanks!
tbh for me, the length of video doesnt matter. if the content is interesting, I'm okay. actuallt thats so kelvii once made a video reaction for dreamcatcher mind marathon for 6 or 7 eps (the most recent at that time) and I'm enjoying it. also explaining Korean also the plan I've made if I run a yt channel also, but from the point of view from a learner (learning by persuading others to learn together). but unfortunately I can't so.. just a plan. as everyone said in comments, inSomnia tend to enjoy long videos too. even if you do 10 eps marathon of dreamcatcher mind which means at least 2 hrs, many people will still enjoy it.
Kim Handong is a fake Korean name used as a joke, and you could say in this context that Handong is her given name. But in fact, Han is her family name, and just Dong is her given name. Also, her name in Mandarin is pronounced similar to 똥. If you want to hear it, go to Papago, set it to Chinese (Simplified), paste in "东" and click on the speaker icon to hear the original pronunciation. I very much doubt she is making poop jokes intentionally, but rather she might be forgetting she's not supposed to pronounce her name that way in Korean :D I didn't hear facelift, just 주름 "jureum", i.e. "wrinkles". I think "facelift" is 주름제거술, "wrinkle removal operation". I can totally see how 40 minute videos could be a turn-off for a lot of people, but personally I'm having fun. You should do what you think is best for you and your channel, of course. What I think about Dongie's pronunciation incidents? Cute :D. And she got a lot better in the meantime. Faerietale is really good, I think a lot of people thought it was the best song on the album. As to recommendations: staying with Insomnicsy, I suggest Always Seven. And I'll bug you again to see Mamamoo's A.Z.E. G.A.G. :D It is not their best song (they have amazing discography), but it is (IMO) the most fun one, and a Korean's perspective would be quite enjoyable :)
With your explanations of her mistakes I think it's stuff most non-native speakers would make. Funny and informative! Personally with stuff like ㄱ and ㄲ, I can hear the difference when they're said side by side, but can almost never tell the difference when they're said in a normal sentence. Your volume was a bit loud, but otherwise fine. Thanks for the videos!
I'm so glad that English doesn't have those subtleties. If I ask how you're feeling, you could answer "happy", "hoppy", or "happae" (like the Queen), and they would all mean the same thing, in context. Unless you run into a diction nazi, you should get by just fine in the US.
Your voice is clear on the audio, but there is a low frequency rumble of the type that's often caused by air conditioners, fan driven heaters, air cleaners etc. Some types of microphones will amplify all kinds of background noise.
Jiu said DC is like a blackhole, once you are in it you cant't get out
Definitely keep up these long videos if you can, it is nice to see you helping to understand the contexts.
Many of us are like HanDong when it comes to Dreamcatcher. Lots of time we have no idea what is going on, but we still laugh.
I enjoy the language breakdowns as I'm trying learn Korean. Still can't hear the difference in some things, so typing it out helps a bit.
I’m also learning korean. And here we are, korean lessons with teacher Andy 🤌

I am also learning Korean, so very interesting to watch. 2 in 1 ahaha. Love your content
🤟😁🤟...💯🥰😍🤩Dreamcatcher...☘️😇🍀...👍👍👍...✌️😉✌️...🌛🤗🌜
I love the Korean lessons with the Insomnicsy videos. Appreciate it!
"머선129" was recently made a thing again by Kang Ho-dong, I think. Apparently it's supposed to sound like 경상도 사투리
Worth noting that Kit (Insomnicsy) taught herself Korean so she even admits that she doesn't always get everything right. She's Cantonese but doesn't speak it. Not sure what her native language actually is
Iirc she's either Malay or Singaporean so her native language should be a mix of English/Mandarin Chinese/Malay
she is malaysian
Nice im learning a lot
Keep these up. I like watching your videos at my side monitor while doing something productive.

Hello Andy. Can u react to Dreamcatcher CROSSROADS Concert with their live vocals and band? its amazing to watch and listen.
thanks for reaction!
Yoohyeon studied here in the Philippines, but for only two months. A summer classs, if I remember correctly.

are you still going to make that video where you watch Vision live stages, dance practice and other stuff?

Which is good, love me some white noise
So funny xD
