  • Terengganu (Malay pronunciation: [tərəŋɡanu]; Terengganu Malay: Tranung, Jawi: ترڠݢانو‎), formerly spelled Trengganu or Tringganu, is a sultanate and constitutive state of federal Malaysia. The state is also known by its Arabic honorific, Dāru l-Īmān ("Abode of Faith"). The coastal city of Kuala Terengganu which stands at the mouth of the broad Terengganu River is both the state and royal capital as well as the largest city in Terengganu. There are many islands located close to the coast of Terengganu state, such as Perhentian Islands and Redang Island.
There are several theories on the origin of the name "Terengganu". One theory attributes the name's origin to terang ganu, Malay for 'bright rainbow'.Another story, said to have been originally narrated by the ninth Sultan of Terengganu, Baginda Omar, tells of a party of hunters from Pahang roving and hunting in the area of what is now southern Terengganu. One of the hunters spotted a big animal fang lying on the ground. A fellow party member asked to which animal did the fang belong. The hunter, not knowing which animal, simply answered taring anu (Malay: 'fang of something'). The party later returned to Pahang with a rich hoard of game, fur and sandalwood, which impressed their neighbours. They asked the hunters where did they source their riches, to which they replied, from the land of taring anu, which later evolved into Terengganu. Terengganu was called Trangkanu (Thai: ตรังกานู) by the Siamese when it was under their influence. Terengganuans usually pronounce Terengganu as Tranung or Ganu with the G often being emphasized

D replicas r all very beautiful. There r 4 doors to enter d Taj Mahal. Around each door, four complete surahs flanked d door with arabic calligraphy. On d main door, Surah Al Yasin greets d visitors, d calligraphy is made by pietra dura craftsmanship using black stars of India semi precious stones. Inside d masoleum, d pietra dura craftsmanship r more beautiful using bright colorful semi n precious stones in floral designs that glows in d dark. I consider Taj Mahal as d best UNESCO world heritage site in India.

@@NaeemShahab Most information I got about Taj Mahal, esp about d architecture comes from Western authors. I didn't really go deep into research about it although it intrigued my mind after my visit to Taj Mahal in 2010. An author claimed that d pointed arch is from d Western architecture, do does d pietra dura from Italy. After d revelation of a book by Diane Darker, it seemed that many details of d European architecture r shaped by d Islamic architecture as portrayed by her book 'Stealing from d saracens, how Muslim architecture shaped Europe. 😁

The "sausage" you mentioned is actually "kerepok," a Malay snack made from sago and fish. Terengganu is famous for it.
