I just found your TH-cam channel and i like the way you talk trough your videos and giving out tips and info. I subscribed! Greetings from The Netherlands😊
I just found your channel and loving it so far! I honestly hear my own thoughts being verbalized by you so really cool to find like minded people. Was wondering what part of MI you are in and are you native or transplant? We are from Texas and I want to to move to MI so badly and we have been trying to figure out what area we want to be in. We love the west coast and northern areas. We want 10 + acres and I’m dying to garden there!!! New subscriber qs: are yall working full time around your home adventures? How did you gather/gain you gardening knowledge?
Hi! I’m on the east side of Michigan. Born & raised! I absolutely love Michigan. The growing season is short but I would trade having seasons for anything! We both work full time. Ive learned everything from TH-cam, reading, and good old fashioned trial & error :)
Nice job! I’m in Michigan and this is year 2 growing onions. About the same result as yours and I started my seeds in January as well. I’m not convinced that starting seeds in individual cells will make a difference. I planted my seeds densely and in smaller trays for space reasons and still got nice size onions. I think it’s more fertilizer. I don’t know if you like shallots but I grew them this year and wow they did great too. It’s all so fun isn’t it?
Thanks!! I have also watched a lot of gardeners start their onions densely in cups but I can’t help but think about how all the seedlings in their own seed cells were much farther along than the ones that shared a cell.. it could be just fertilizer though! I’ll have to run a test next year :) I love shallots! I’ll have to try them next season.
I had them so bad last year but knock on wood haven’t seen ANY this year. I did spray beneficial nematodes all over the garden and yard this spring so maybe it helped?! Sure didn’t do a thing for the Japanese beetles. 🙄
Looks like almost all your onion leaves were still green when you harvested. You might get slightly larger onions if you harvest when half the leaves are green and the other half have dried up.
I love finding new people to watch when garden season is upon us. Excited to see more from you in the future!
Thank you!
Here we harvest onions only when the greens start to wilt

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video :)
As a newer gardener, I really appreciate the info of what you did and will do next year and why. It really helps
Also very excited for the 🍅 content
You should be proud! They look great!
I’m in Eastern Washington (desert side of the state/ zone 6b-7a) I start my seeds using winter sowing! If it’s new to you, look into it!
Really nice video. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!

Great explanations and I am in Upper Michigan. I haven't been brave enough to try onions
Thanks! So nice to hear from a fellow Michigander

A person harvesting without a victorian dress and straw baskets. Thanks god. I can also do this with my stained old adidas short, thank you.
Thanks so much 🧅🧅 such an impressive harvest!
Not onion related, but curious if you deal with cucumber beetles on cukes or squash.. any tips ?

Does anybody happen to know if raw tung oil is ok to use INSIDE wood raised beds for vegetables?

They already broke at the neck so I don’t think they would’ve gotten any bigger
Mine did not get very big 😢
