    Such an incredible take on Arthur's journey to being loved only for who he's not, which itself is the meta commentary on the audience that hated it.

    Thank you Todd Philips, Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga and the whole crew. I needed this story. It helped me come to terms with a devastating breakup that had haunted me for years and this film, just as the first did, felt as though it were reaching into my soul and gave me an exercise to see myself and come to terms with it and myself and my own self worth. These films will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved Arthur and hated to see him go as he was one of a kind and I know we won’t get to see such a character as he was in cinemas again.

    I have such a love hate relationship with this film, I actually really like the direction they took it, but there were so many missed opportunities that just frustrate me to no end. I love this movie for what it is but I hate it for what it could have been, because it could have been so much more. Either way, this is a unique film and I think in time will begin to appreciate it more. This is a movie where the Joker is struggling to be the Joker, and ultimately finds that there's no Joker left in him, and that's something we'll never see again. Yeah this movie fails to live up to the first one, but maybe it was never trying to. This is a type of movie that will never touch the Batman IP again, and I think in its ambition and uniqueness alone it deserves more credit.

    After absolutely LOVING the first one I was expecting to leave highly disappointed but I was pleasantly surprised with another great Joaquin film. They're barely 'Joker' movies to me. I don't follow DC or any comics so I see Arthur as his own character... a relatable, mentally ill, strange loner who can't seem to ever win and finally can't take it anymore. In his mind hes the Joker, or as Murray called him: A Joker. Maybe my perception is why I love them so much. Joaquin is just phenomenal and the character was meant for him.

    Joker Folie a Deux: I love every Ounce of this Film. It has so many Layers that many cannot see it directly or need to catch up. The Music was added to make the Relationship between Arthur Fleck and Lee Quinzel romantic. She loved the Joker and not the real Person which is Arthur Fleck. This makes a lot of Sense too (a different Approach of the Relationship with Joker and Harley) that Lee later on finds the "other" Joker and sticks to an Idea of Him. The Plottwist in the End is fantastic. This Film is another great way to reflect on Humanity. What started out as an untreated Disease (or many false Information in the History) led to a false Inspiration / led to a Misinterpretation in the Present.
    As mentioned, many Audience couldn't see it right away because there are so many Informations at once in this Film. The Music was wonderful sarcastic approach to over all how Humanity copes up or covers a lot through Music. Because sets the Mood of the Emotion and through that we tend to forget or neglect the Objective part of Life. "That is Entertainment" or better said Distraction!
    Again, what a fantastic Move. Love it!

    I overall really do like the movie. My two biggest criticisms are the music and Arthur's change in the end. I know it's a musical, but I thought it would be inside his and Lee's heads. Sometimes it was, sometimes it wasn't. Second, I know he has more or less a change of heart after his cross examination of Mr. Puddles and his SA in the prison guards, but it was so sudden. I could believe the change more when it came to the SA by the prison guards because it showed Arthur that he's not invincible; him as the Joker is not loved by everyone. My favorite scene is the music number of "The Joker" in the courtroom. It felt the most like Arthur's Joker, dancing and being a performer, and Lee basking in the "Joker's" light and violence.

    I would have liked seeing Connor Storrie speaking behind the scenes. He deserves it given his performance was masterful for a young actor with not much experience in big films. I guess they´re protecting him from public scrutiny and the bad critics from the media. I don´t give a flyin´ f about what they say. This movie was the best in a long time... Not that I'm a comic book fan, but they forget that they're using a DC character and using BATMAN's NEMESIS... beyond that, this sequel ruins Arthur's entire development from sinking into madness to becoming the JOKER.
    The vast majority of the musical numbers are just for show and add nothing.
    It can't be that this movie, with a budget of 200 million, only has ARKHAM and THE JUDGMENT as settings.
    While the first one had many more locations with only 55 million.
    I only see the JOKER in Arthur's mind and nothing else, when I should have seen him already consumed by madness in this sequel.
    Harley's JOKER scene on the stairs isn't even in the final cut, and that even came out in the trailers and on a poster.
    And I'm not even talking about the ENDING. It was a stab in the back for those of us who loved the first one. They could have made a Bonnie and Clyde style movie and it would have been a 10 and if they had left me two or three musicals like the one about the trial which was undoubtedly the best. But well they had to ruin Phoenix's JOKER for the money.
    except that this year we had the PENGUIN series if not DC would have been worse this year

    I like the movie first and foremost. But why did Arthur had to necesarily come back to who he was? Why wouldn't he pick to lose himself in Joker identity? Would make sense and stylistically people would love that too. Why not dedicate himself fully to that mental armor? I know that Arthur is not that kind of person to go on some killing rampages, movie didn't need that either, but he could stand in this mental armor called Joker to the end, and it would make sense in relation to the first movie too. First movie was a triumph that let me out of the theatre in a sense of euphoria and with a message to Smile and to not take things too seriously. Wish 2nd movie would do that too, without that ending

    • @bluejaytherapper
      @bluejaytherapper หลายเดือนก่อน

      That actually doesn't make sense because if you really watch the last movie all he did was to be seen an accepted, its a very unjoker like trait. The Joker if you're going off the killing joke in the comic, wanted to be a comedian who is married and he's trying to provide for her, he's a sweet but gullible guy and he gets mixed up with gangsters who wanna pay him to do a job with them..but really he's the fall guy for the job and Batman accidentally knocks him into a vat of toxic chemicals that drives him insane..it's really sad but Joker loses his grip on reality. That's Joker. This Joker was beaten down, a mentally ill abused, and disturbed person who didn't have a fighting chance at surviving the world. He would never be strong enough to be the Joker. He was destined to fail. The point is he wanted to be so loved and accepted by this cruel world and it made him cruel and it was only when he became a monster that he was seen and respected, basically rewarded for doing something that was against his character and it was an identity he tried to fit, only to realize he was never that person...ironically the real monster comes along and does him in. Its a great story. People just wanted it to be him because they identify with the anger of the first film when that was never the point of the story.

    • @bluejaytherapper
      @bluejaytherapper หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The first movie honestly left me feeling sick to my stomach. Disturbed and not in an emotionally cathartic way. I can't explain it. It made me feel like it was a movie for shooters. Like it made me feel like the world is a hopeless place. Like some movies feel like beautifully painful, even tragic like requiem for a dream, but that movie made me feel like I read a killers like messed up diary and I'm just supposed to swallow and internalize it. I don't get why people like that movie over the second. None of it was enjoyable to watch. It wasn't like this triumph of film..it felt like someone losing thier soul. The violent scenes were so savage. It was never meant to be this comicbook villain story. I feel it's all a cautionary tale.

    • @lepersonnage371
      @lepersonnage371 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bluejaytherapper all of that theme about Joker 2019 being a movie for shooters turned out to be a bunch of bunk, nothing happened and no one did no shootings after watching the movie. @lepersonnage371 and no I mean the way the movie makes me feel, like it had no humanity. It was depraved. That's just my opinion. I can watch a lot of heavy and dark films. I saw a clip of people clapping in the theater when he shot Murray and that is disgusting you know? I think a lot of incels got turned on by Arthur, I don't think it was the films intent to insight violence. He wasn't a likeable character. And he doesn't feel like the hero but more a self destructive protagonist. The story is a tragedy not a triumph of the Joker and his rise to his power.

    To say this movie is more hopeful than the first one....Are you ok Todd? Not only that, but he needs to learn what is the shadow self. And he deconstructed the first one so badly. Disgusting

    Pretty wack idea of a "true self". A waterfall isn't a river's "true self" it's how it acts when the ground drops out

    A misunderstood movie that has faced so much exaggerated hate. 😞 Joaquin and Gaga did their job brilliantly ✨❤ and deserve to be recognized. If people can’t appreciate talent and art, well, that’s another story.

    I get it. I understand the idea behind it *but* ...We were mis-sold. Joker gave us all hope. Yes he was an anti-hero but we were given the idea that *_any_* of us mentally ill loners could be something great. To quote Harry Potter, "terrible...but GREAT". At least...something other than nobodies.
    Joker 2 ruined all that.

    It seems like there was an alternate ending where Joker and Harley sing and dance on the stairs and get intercepted by Police, I personally would be really intetested to see how that version of the scene plays out in the movie, hopefully there will be an alternate cut ot deleted scenes on the home release
