  • THE SHARPS’ WAR tells the never-before-told story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, an American minister and his wife from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who left their children behind in the care of their parish and boldly committed to a life-threatening mission in Europe. Over two dangerous years they helped save scores of imperiled dissidents and refugees fleeing the Nazi occupation across Europe.

British Unitarian ministers, including the Rev John McLachlan, were also involved in this kindertransport operation. The bravery of Martha and Waitstill Sharp was remarkable - their recognition well deserved. Czech Unitarian leader, Norbert Capek, mentioned in this video was eventually arrested and killed in a Nazi extermination camp. He founded the Flower Communion service that many Unitarian churches around the world celebrate still to day. He wrote this solemn but beautiful hymn that we still sing, Mother Spirit Father Spirit (English words by Richard Boeke - th-cam.com/video/aJqN1BkoG-M/w-d-xo.html

1:06 millions of unknown people died and suffer for no reason at all. Are they remembered??? Saints seem to be the norm and if not a Catholic or of any church you forgotten.

Thank you, PSB. Sadly, this is very appropriate now, given the contents of Project 2025 😢. People need to see that history can repeat itself.

It seems that the mass of the object causes time to slow down, not the speed of the object. For example, if a photon races with a compressed galaxy, both will reach their destination together. In the world of photon, because time is fast, it can move at the speed of light, and in the world of a compact galaxy, because time is slow, it can move at the speed of light. Outside of these two worlds, the speed of photon and the speed of compressed galaxy are equal. Of course, speed increases mass

Very moving, informative, and educational. Sadly, the British political scene appears to be on the cusp of matching Germany before Hitler, and Spain just before the Spanish Civil War, and there may be a need for more Sharps!

@@azhassainia2492That's just not true , if you are referring to the war against Hamas in Gaza .
It's incredible how Israel has been surrounded by enemies since its rebirth in 1948 , survived numerous wars from day one , turned a wasteland back into a living and thriving economy , all the time wanting peace with their hate-filled Islamic neighbours, yet Israel are called the 'aggressors' 😮
God bless the IDF and the nation of Israel 😊
      🇬🇧♥️🇮🇱✝️

Wonderful story. One thiung, though: there is simply no way they could have travelled from the Pyrinees to Madrid in FOUR hours. Nowadays the trip takes slightly more on the ultramodern wide track high-speed train! In 1940, with coal engines and narrow tracks it would have taken more like 24 hours, and changing trains twice, in Barcelona and Saragossa, at least.
