    We are heavily leaning toward homeschooling this year because of the state of the world right now. It’s something I have looked into in the past as well but wasn’t really pushed to it. My kids will be 1st grade and 4th grade. It’s overwhelming to start from scratch.

    We enjoy BJU distance learning too. 2020-2021 will be our second year using BJU! We will have students in 5th, 6th, and 10th. We definitely enjoy History, English, and Science the most for all our students. I’m going to try the free lessons from Teacher Text Books. Let see how it will work for us. Thank you Becky!

    Our oldest is going into 5th grade this fall. We've used only A.C.E. curriculum. But I've always been terrible in Math! I feel like she's going to need something different for Math this year. ACE is a good curriculum, but it can be very repetitive and doesn't really keep her interest. I want to start her and our other 2 on Teaching Textbooks. It looks like they'd really like it, and would absorb more of what they're learning. What level would you suggest starting her in as far as TT and BJU? Shes very smart and on her grade level in Math, and probably 6th or 7th grade level in reading. Same for our other 2. Our middle child is on 4th grade level. Our youngest is 6, and seems to struggle with reading, but is comprehending Math quite well.

    Hi. Thank you for your video. I'm new at this. Just wondering about "placement" quizzes. I'd like to get an idea at the beginning, of what level our student is stating at, for each subject. Thanks in advance.

    I’m starting homeschooling for my son next week. The homeschool store recommended the BJU Press math for my 3rd grader. I did get the teachers manual but I’m still so nervous because I absolutely hate math! Lol.

    Very helpful video. How long does it take you to teach each child English?
    Also if you have tried their spelling and Handwriting do you think they are self explanatory and teachers guide is not needed.

    • @aplacetonest

      I haven't tried BJU's spelling or handwriting but their grammar/writing lessons typically take 10-20 minutes per lesson.

      I'm so glad it was helpful! We usually start mid-August and are done by the end of April. We don't take a lot of long or unnecessary breaks so we can get done "early."

    Hi. I just got my DLO BJU based on your recommendation from previous videos and the textbooks and workbooks look amazing. I have one question for you, where do you sell your used books? What service? This will be first year homeschooling and I would like to know where I could sell them once We are done using them. Thanks.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great! I hope you love it as much as we do! I usually sell my old curriculum to other homeschoolers I know or on Facebook Marketplace. I've also sold things on eBay before but I don't do that much anymore because it seems eBay has had lots of scammers lately. : (

    I ordered BJU Science and also the Home Science Tool kit thanks to you. I am now deciding should I teach this or should I use the distant learning? Do you still follow along for your daughters distant learning Science? Does she enjoy it? Thank you.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess that depends on how much time you have and if you feel comfortable teaching it. I've done DLO and parent-led and I like both. My oldest prefers DLO but my youngest prefers me to teach her so I try to do a mix of parent-led and online classes to please her but also help me to have some "free time" to get other things done.

    We love BJU grammar, reading, and spelling. BUT the Math 3 weeks in we are changing to teaching Textbooks. My daughter did Saxon in her private school last year for grade 2 and moving to BJU math 3 was a huge jump. She was not getting the concepts and it moved too quickly ahead. Math became a fight not fun for her or me. I don’t suggest new homeschoolers get the math. Very overwhelming.

    • @Ho_Hop
      @Ho_Hop 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@denisejohnson4037 My daughter did not like looking at the full page of problems she would get very overwhelmed. So I would not go back to Saxon. She loves TT and we use Masterbooks along with it and she loves it. We’ve been doing both since September and it’s going very well and I plan to do the same next year.

    Do you use the Dvd part of BJU Press? It says on their site you have to return the dvds or you will be charged $1000 total if you do not. That sounds crazy. You dont actually own the materials. Its so expensive and you have to return it. It sounds wierd. Do you watch the videos? I'm bummed out because it seemed so good.

    How much do you usually ask when you resell curriculum? Like as a percentage of what it would cost new? I'm trying to decide...

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess that depends on how motivated you are to sell but typically, I start at about half of what I paid. Before listing anything, I'd look to see if anybody else is selling what you have and the condition of what they're selling. If what you have is newer, or in better condition, you might want to price yours a bit above theirs.

    There are never ANY good reasons to have anything to do BJU. I played in a Romeo and Juliet Homesat production and I wish I could do something to yank it. I hate BJU with a passion, and I'm so proud I was booted out.
