Just wanted to say, Pearl, not only is your method of teaching methodical and clear, but your editor does a wonderful job of keeping the essentials and trimming off the non-essentials, in the interest of time, which makes your demonstrations concise. On another note, in the South, Anglo-Indian mothers, who often had to stretch the household budget, to feed many growing children, used to make a preserved meat called Ding-Ding. I’ve eaten it in boarding school. Essentially it’s strips of beef that have been well marinated and then dried out in the sun, to preserve the meat, prior to fridges being affordable. This was neatly stored in a Cream Cracker tin and locked away in the family Meat-Safe. During the Monsoons when I’m told beef was unaffordable, these strips of meat were fried and served with rice and pepper-water, so her children could have protein all year round. If you, or any of your other fans have access to this recipe, I’m wondering if you’d kindly do a demonstration on how to make Ding-Ding. Thanks Pearl
Hello Pearl, this is one of your demonstrations I rewatch as it reminds me of family members from years ago. Home cooking food can be tasty but also the preparation nostalgic as well. Pepper Water in particular. Thank you for reawakening the memories.
Thank you Pearl for the delicious pepperwater and chilli fry recipe. I love all your recipes, I make it a routine everyday to watch one video faithfully and then plan my menu. Thank you and God bless…❤
Hi pearl you remind me so much off my Anglo family recognise lot the dish’s my granny would make she was the best cook will be making them for my family god bless
Oh Dear! Reminds me of my mum's cooking and exactly the way she would have demonstrated to someone. Good ole days child !!! Drooling so much finding it hard to say 'Thank You" from New Zealand
The pepper water you make is quite different from the south. Our maid would make pepper water on a cold winters day, and sometimes we would drink this as a soup before our main course, that will be beef fry with rice and veggies. She was a Tamil lady who cooked our yummy Anglo Indian food. Missing her cooking and brings back memories.
You must be thinking about this version of pepper water 😁as I made them both , here is the link . th-cam.com/video/1h8wj3_NECM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YSCaiRPZLX-oC9A2
This video brought memories of my Anglo Indian friends in Dubai in the 80s. Most were from Madras and Cochin and now all are settled in Australia or Canada
wonderful dish and so well explained could you please increase the audio volume If you use a wooden spoon to stir the meat it would avoid the metal on metal sound
Hi Melita (such a lovely name) I’m also doing the second version of pepper water it’s more the tamarind one and it goes with dry fry so look out for that in the coming weeks 🙏🏽👌🏻❤️👍🏻
