Good, given how bad the v1 was we need to see it on a spectrum analyzer, as you know the b1 had low audio volume, on some frequencies v low power output on the low setting, and harmonic spikes when transmitting well above what fcc allow. I hope they’ve managed to fix those things, but put together with them using a spoof fcc I’d last time these are legitimate and important questions
@@simongordon8182 Yea some of them can be really bad. The Abree you can hear the transmission loud and clear on the harmonics. I plan on running it through the TinySA as well as my poor mans test. This video was already 17min so I had to break it up.

2 notes. Just got mine a couple of weeks ago and it came with a charging cradle. No spkr mic, with I wouldn't want anyways. 10 watts-that antenna need be above your head, not next to your body. Unless your hold the radio high up. I for sum reason got a GMRS version, so it came with a GMRS band only antenna. Didn't work for crap on ham bands or unlocked

I’m no genius but it seems to me that bt programming is groundbreaking. You would think that the big boys would have made this a common feature in at least most radios they put out.
Radtel was the first to build BT into one of their radios. The RT 490, which also has GPS. The Japanese couldn't do worse than add BT programming, but they still haven't made a radio with USBc charging yet. Hopefully we might at least see Yaesu bring out new batteries for the FT-70 & FT4 with USB sockets.

Can't say I'm thrilled at having to register any details on an app to use it for programming (I'm sure the radio can be programmed on the face). Even with fake credential information the app is still installed on my phone or tablet and doing who knows what in the background. If you get the GMRS version it’s programmed to TX on GMRS. You can listen to ham bands without unlocking anything. You can save the RX side of any ham repeater to listen. I don’t recommend unlocking unless you have the license to TX on the ham bands.

Ham version is 10w, GMRS is 5w. So in any case get a HAM version and unlock it. Folks report being able to pull 10w on both HAM and GMRS after unlocking.

One you need a ham radio license and other you need a GMRS license. The Ham radio license requires a test to pass where as the GMRS is fee based. You pay one fee to cover the whole home.
When I pulled the FCC number is looks like they are under part 15 which means they won't interfere with other equipment. I am working on a video that will show that the transmitter is indeed clean.
So once again, the ChiComs are getting your location information lol. The SW seems to work ok without registering but you obviously don't get location services e.g., repeater locations.
That will be region specific as GMRS is channelized. You can tune around and listen or you can use a site like repeaterbook.com to see if there are any local repeaters you can join in.
@@K5QBF I just received this radio tonight, and while the manual doesn't say much about #34, the Odmaster app allows us to toggle this on as a channel setting, not a radio function setting. What I mean is, this is an attribute you assign to a channel, just like you would a frequency, offset, and tone. These radios were originally sold in pairs. Now all we need is for someone to test this frequency hopping between two TD-H8 radios with identical channel settings and freq hopping enabled. Have a third radio tuned to the same frequency. If it works, the two radios communicate while the third doesn't receive. Then this may be one of the greatest features of this radio. Somewhat private simplex with interference rejection!
Is it splash resistant? Waterproof? Submersible? Would be using this radio in a marine environment where I need the 55 Vhf marine channels & some land-mobile frequency’s.

doesn't matter if you give the app a fake name, they got literally everything on your phone...messages, meta data, contacts, browser info, everything. they don't even bother to tell you they don't take your info in their EULA.
The million dollar q is whether or not they’ve solved the problem of high levels of spurious harmonics that the original with a fake fcc number had. Any the q is secondary. Buying selling using a radio that prodigy from interference would be very problematic.
I used the radio at field day on both uhf and vhf and had no reports of interference. In testing other radios the worst I’ve seen in a spur was around 28dbm which is roughly .63 watts and with the loss in the antenna it wasn’t detectable on a radio more than a foot away from the source. According to the manual, which was part of the FCC approval process, it meets part 97 standards.

It is supported by chirp. I will say the app didn't ask for any permissions, but I understand the concern.

Personally mines unlocked and I use it for both. The hardware is identical between the models.

I’ve heard that their repeater information isn’t accurate. I usually just download repeater data from RepeaterBook into chirp.

Can the bluetooth be used with a bluetooth headset?
The only documented use for Bluetooth is for programming. I don't have a way to test the other.
I can not get ODmaster to work AT ALL

I have found deleting and reinstalling the app fixes most things. If that doesn't work reach out to Tidradio.
I think the issue is with basically any app it's what it can access to and what it sends back to the homeland.

I do not know for sure, but my initial googling supports SOC.

I’m not sure what to tell you. According to Apple they do not collect data. I only use old devices though for programming.
good luck got mine a week ago and after 198 attempts to connect bluetooth and no real help from mfg sending it back cant recommend anyone buy it
The best fix I’ve found for the Bluetooth not connecting is removing and reinstalling the app.

They fixed this problem in the firmware. Also fixed issues with the mic and speaker in the newest firmware.
I will be testing it live today at 3:30pm central.
