You just have to much pride and you make the rest of the Filipino look bad. In case you didn’t know David foster comes from a different generation. He said the same about Charice but she didn’t really really achieve much after Glee.

She has been singing way too much but she has taken a step back a bit more lately. She newly released some live performances and her voice sounded amazing just a few weeks ago.
What I have noticed, she used to really overwork herself to the point of performing sick (very often).

Makes sense yes Morissette has had vocal nodules in the past and even said she wants to move away from that type of singing to preserve her voice for the future. Still a great performance from Morissette. 🔥👑

this is a series of shows and if I am not mistaken this on day 6 so her voice sound tired but she's still nailing it.
oh yes, she has control now of her career and has learnt to keep her vocals in top shape by taking breaks here and there. ❤ Morissette
Mori's greatest joy is when her audience sings with her. She always tries to get others to sing with her.
Freya your assessment I think is very caring. At the moment Morissette can stretch her vocal chords. Like every athlete, care should be taken if you want to keep a healthy voice. Those songs are wonderful if there is no sign of strain. With anyone, too much strain with those belting pitches will be detrimental eventually. Any vocal coach, any singing journal will say the same. If someone overused or abuses any part of the body it burns out. This sort of singing should not be done habitually. This is common sense. I agree with what you say totally.
I'f i'm not mistaken this was the last performance with David Foster. Originally Morissette was only performing Never Enough but David's wife (Kathleen) couldn't perform (their Nanny died) and Morissette stepped in. The performance where Morissette is wearing the pink dress is the finest night....she was in the zone. I think by this night they were all having fun and the nerves were gone. Sometimes the nerves give the performance a bit of electricity ! As too the issue of vocal health...I think if you react to Morissette's latest version of Power it should put your mind at ease as to whether there is any fatigue or damage. Morissette is a generational artist!

This was actually day 3, which was my least favorite of the entire concert series. This vocal coach just had the bad luck of picking the "wrong" day to react to. My favorite was day 6, which imo means she finished the series on a high note and better than she sounded here.
Mori stated in her recent vlog/video that She lost her voice and when she see Her ENT, The ENT got mad at her for using her voice too much by singing belty sings non stop. He said she needs to stop singing all those songs if she wants her voice to last long.
I've been saying that mori is over using her chest register and that she tend to strain a lot nowadays ,but some of her fans who just want to praise her and never see the real thing ,because they idolize her too much(with all the expectations) Call me a hater 😂😂.

we all worry about Mori, she forgets that she needs to protect herself. We all want her to protect herself, but she loves to sing so much and enjoys it a lot, she forgets.

Morissette is a professional singer, and she certainly has more experience in singing than most other singers. Her technique is perfect (approved by countless vocal coaches), and she adds some extra cracks and delicate effects to her singing from time to time, but she does it on purpose and for the performance, not because she can't do it in another way. She never strains or struggles. Morissette is the best and greatest vocalist I have ever listened to, and I listen to her every day. Morissette - Queen of Song!

This was day 3 of her concert series with David, which, if I recall correctly, was my least favorite of all the days both performance-wise and interpretation-wise. Day 6 is my favorite, with days 2 and 5 not far behind. In particular, IWALY on day 6 was sublime. A youtuber named Jasper Balibat uploaded a nice video of the day 6 medley. All that said, this vocal coach's concerns are on point for all singers, including Morissette.

I think Morissette knows how to pace herself to avoid straining much of her voice knowing full well that she wants to stay long in her career. If I'm not mistaken, she mentioned this in one of her interviews.
She's performing almost 6 nights straight with David Foster, and this was the last day of the concert as you can tell, the raspiness on her voice is very visible as it sounds hoarse as she actually is. Performing 6 nights is actually tiring without rest and I salute her for still giving her best and I love her for that.

Her performance of 'rise up' on wish radio was the most amazing thing I have heard in my 72 years. ..I can't imagine I will hear anything to beat it.....although I haven't been too keen on anything else I have heard her sing.

I'd pushed the button because I was completely satisfied what am i supposed to hear in. A perfect adviced and elaboration to the song was I like to hear about it. I loved it.
I'm in love with Morissette's voice, but I hope she has people around her, like her husband especially, who will protect her from over-using her voice to meet the demands of those who want to profit from it.

This was on the last day of the David Foster and Friends concerts, and she was singing NEVER ENOUGH and the Bodyguard medley, and the arrangement of the three songs was very hard on her vocals, as you noticed they cut parts of the song where the vocal cords can rest before going into those belts, ok we have to allow for the distortion on the phone microphone, but the last night of these concerts was too much, she almost caved in on never enough, she had to change the ending to survive, watch day 2 of the concert and the difference between day 2 and day 6 singing these three power Ballards, was too much for Mori's voice, and I was not happy with the arrangement, if you let Mori sing free, then it's no problem, but when you mess around with the arrangement, that can course problems like on this night. 😊
I hope Morissette watchbthis reaction, and listen to the analysis, suggestions to protect Morissette's vocal chords.

I think this was the last day of the 5 or 6 days straight concert of David in Manila. Her voice is definitely not in its best condition as this was the last night. The previous nights performances were a lot better, but nevertheless she performed what was expected of her. I specifically loved the rasp when her voice is a bit hoarse, it adds emotions and feels to it. But i agree, singers should rest their voice.

O agree with you. I’m so worried about a lot of excellent Filipino singers who are straining their vocal chords. I myself do not know how to sing properly because of lack of training and not being able to read notes that can’t sing the way I used to. Gone was the 4 octave range.
It's not just a Filipino singers problem; you can find tons of videos of singers from all over the globe comparing vocals when they are well-rested vs. not well-rested. Unfortunately, it's just a challenge that singers sometimes need to face. Heck, it even happens to classical singers, and the whole classical school is centered around singing in the most optimal way to prevent vocal issues. I'm sorry you've had to deal with voice issues of your own.

I love Mori so much, but I can hear the strain here as well. I hope she is not overusing her voice, so we could hear her for so many years.

Mariah was overworked during her Daydream tour, and instead of getting sufficient vocal rest and improving her vocal hygiene, she (thanks to her management at the time) pushed through, developing some questionable techniques to overcompensate and further damaging her instrument. So yes, inadequate vocal hygiene can be a killer for any singer. Morissette used to push the envelope more, but as she gets older she's getting better and better at prioritizing proper vocal hygiene. I was especially happy to see how she and her team handled last year. She's in very high demand, and it can be a tough balance to navigate sometimes.

Too much yelling for me. I prefer Dolly’s version. She just sings the song. And then you can concentrate on the song and not the gymnastics of The Voice.
