TKA Theatre Company and the Smith Family Conservatory of the Arts recently produced the family favorite musical, "The Music Man"!
TKA’s Smith Family Conservatory of the Arts, a two-time American High School Theatre Festival award-winning fine arts program, is led by Mr. Kyle Schnack (Artistic Director, Theatre Arts, Musical Theater, Vocal Arts, Department Chair), Mrs. Summer McCarty Hoskins (Acting, Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Director of Dance- Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz), Mr. Douglas Gawriljuk (Dance- Ballet and Modern), Mr. Evan Schultz (Stagecraft & Technical Director), Mr. Wes Lowe (Director of Instrumental Arts), Mr. Mickey Smith (Asst. Director of Instrumental Arts), Mr. Andrew Jeffrey (Instrumental Arts Strings, Piano), Mrs. Patricia Holland (Piano), Mr. Austin Parenti (Media Arts Director), Mr. Timothy DeMoss (Media Arts, Photography), Mr. Phillip King (Media Arts, Live Events), Mr. Hunter Forster (Media Arts, Game Design), and Ms. Sarah Best (Visual Arts).

OK, I have watched this number or sequence at least 25 times. I honestly think this was better choreographed than the vintage, by now, movie.
I've been watching a lot of this production's numbers, and holy cannoli, their choreographer is insane. And the dancing ability of these kids! It's nuts. I don't even think I've seen a professional show with this good of choreography, outside of literal ballet.
I'm not really kidding when I say that it sort of singlehandedly changed my perspective on the importance of choreography in musical theater. Usually, I'd say that the acting performance matters most, then vocals, then dancing. But, uh? Shoot, man. Depending on the show, I'd happily flip vocals and dancing.
If you haven't, you ought to watch their rendition of Sadder but Wiser. I'd never thought of it as a tap number, but it works very well.
