I'm 71. I should hate this song. I love this song and I have no idea why. I've probably watched the "Dancer" video twenty times, too. Now, I was a radio DJ in the 70's, so there's that. I want Idles on a double bill with St Vincent.Just something about Joe and the band that pulls me in.
It's the energy and conviction. What I want to hear from the younger generation. Being a drummer, I dig the solid tempo and straightforward power.
It's because it feels real. In this era of overly processed music that takes no risks, this harkens back to what music used to be. Compare this to some modern metal and modern punk rock. Those genres now have tuned vocals, time-aligned and sample-replaced drums, Midi bass, etc. etc. It feels more like a CGI-heavy Marvel battle scene than it feels like the raw edgy music it should be.

Dude, I’m so in love with this song, the first time I heard it I got high AF to listen to the new album, and since the first 10 seconds I loved it
I'm remembering the lukewarm reaction from some quarters when Tangk first came out and shaking my head. Great, great band.
It took several listens for the last two to grow on me.

On a recent TV show in UK they stated Liverpool has the most number one singles in the world. It's only second to Detroit, but considering the size... It's incredible!

Look at what came out of places like Bristol and Manchester in the 90's that still kills it today and this is coming from an Irish guy.

The only people that say that are silly woke progressive kids brought up and brainwashed neomarxist institutions. Young Europeans still flock to England by the hundreds of thousands each year as, while their countries often have beauty and better health and education systems, they’re kinda… boring.
British soft power is still utterly immense for a tiny island. It dwarfs the rest of Europe and in many ways even rivals the States.
Just Idles, doing Idles things, as usual. I love this tune. The performance is tight as despite the fact they all look like they've dialled it all up to 12. Also great to see Jools doing his best to represent good music irrespective of genre. Jools doing Jools things too..
