When I worked at a grain elevator here in Central Kansas one of the farmers that we delivered fertilizer to his air seeder would always ask if it was that trucks first delivery of the day and if so he would have you dump a small amount on the ground before filling the cart to get the moisture out of the system because he's had that problem before
I know its time consuming and sometimes tedious for you make these videos Zach. I really appreciate the time you and Becky put into them and it brightens my day when you release one. Thank you!
To avoid powdered product to clump and bridge, you can install electric or hydraulic actuated shakers on the chute. (Simple motor with unbalanced flywheels encased in a housing). They're quite effective.
Went to the bar the other night and I asked the bartender, "Hey, do you have a StripTiller here?" He said, "Nope, she is out driving tractor". Thanks for all the videos.
We’ve run a strip tiller for about the last 8 years and I can say it’s a lot of screwing around but this year is the first time it did all the acres perfectly and even with all the headaches were so happy with the machine it does a great job
As much as I liked the content the prior 2 years watching you try to get the strip tiller to work, I'm glad for you that it seems to be figured out. Big expense to own equipment that doesn't give you a return. Keep up with the great videos!
I think all of us who watched your frustration last year are equally relieved that it worked for you so well this year. Wishing you continued success this harvest!
So good to see the strip tiller is finally working like you need it to! And awesome to see the dedication to helping you get it right from the Midwest and Red-E guys - they seem like a super bunch. Love your harvest content and your seagull nickname! Skyrats 🤣!
We got rain every week since spring and we're still getting rain and its cold now. I love this time of year cause our bow season started oct 1st and we're having a good harvest with really good yields cause of all the rain.
I saw one of your recent videos about hateful comments and I'm sure you get about a millions comments/messages and what not but through all of the negativity I hope you keep your head high because you are one of the reasons I stuck with farming I saw how happy you and your family were and how much satisfaction comes with farming I always grew up on a farm and helping neighboring farms but I moved to mechanics for a little while because I didn't see a future for me but I have taken over the family farm now and loving every minute of it basically I just wanted to say don't give up maybe there Is a lot of negativity but you are helping a lot of people/younger generation stick with farming
I grew up on a farm but work in a factory. I found this channel a couple months ago and love it. I've been watching a lot to try to catch up and see them all. Keep up the great work.thank you
Man I'm happy for you to have the train working. I know you have put a lot of work and thought into it. Those guys at Red-E are awesome. They have helped me with any questions I have had for them.
An A for gutting it out with the strip tiller. I had my doubts, glad I was proven wrong. Here's hoping the rain holds off long enough to avoid the sticky soil issue. Then you will be golden!
Put a smile on my face seeing this all working like it should. Congrats Zach! Hope it stays that way and you all stay safe with the fluster of activity that is coming up. Thank you as always for the videos.
29:00 the camera is glary because they have infrared lights built in for the outdoor night vision. In small close spaces they reflect a lot. Try to mask with tape half of the outer front ring of the cameras, that one full of “non working leds”
Glad to see strip tiller in action. Also glad to see you stuck with it. I know some guys that do it . The one in the sandy ground does his in the spring just ahead of the planter..
Instead of climbing the ladder to your bin 5:26 you could a sight glass in stalled, saving you having to climb the ladder unless you just love climbing the ladder. It would be safer!
a word of confidence to all this work. I started using a Montag variable rate 15 to 20 years ago. Our yields have improved and yields are much more consistent across the fields. It's worth the pain on the back side. Saves a lot product were not needed and corrects the low fertility ares. Hang in there !
Hi Zak worked for cadburys packing cocoa powder no end of trouble with it bridging and plugging we put small air vibrators the hopper that came on with a timer this helped also the tote bins that we used were plastic similar to your hopper and static was also holding the product back properly tried these (just suggestions) best of luck
I think you will like that strip till. It is done on my ground and the corn looks great. In my area they place a set number of lbs. per acre in the row and variable rate spread what extra is needed with a spreader.
do you a favor and put a Vibrating Motor on the Tanks, a solution used in building and construction silos where plaster, cement, and other stuff will ged stuck and bridge often. it doesnt have to run all the time can be timed or manual started if needet
I'm really glad to see that air cart finally dialed in and running smoothly. That is definitely some great tech support you got. As always thanks for sharing the videos with us all Zach and family. I look forward to the next one.
You should get a short plumbers cable so that you can unplug the downtubes with minimal fuss. I hauled a lot of potash and muriated potash out of the Kerr McGee plant In Trona, CA. I hated hauling it because it always plugged up the valves and discharge tubes on my pneumatic trailer. I finally had a light bulb moment and got a plumbers clean out cable. I could open the cleanouts below each bottom and break up the plugs in minutes instead of beating the crap out of my poor trailer. Potash tends to clump so I wouldn't even preload your tank the night before. Just saying. Stay safe.
Great vidja!!! Also I just had some chili I made tonight!!! What are the odds!!! Great videos lately I enjoy them and your other channels as well 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love what you do on your farm, I’m a huge fan. Being completely honest, simple is always best. When things are too complicated and you spend more time fighting a tool than using it, it’s time to do something else. That’s with everything in life. It doesn’t have to be that hard.
when i drove animals feeds then i made myself a long stick (Telescopic broom) with rubber hammer on end to check how full bins were by hammer them instead of climbing ladders as often i had to do it during winter and storms and lot of ladders at farmer bins were missing steps or safety rails
Install a couple vibrators in the bottom of the potash tank, get the ones used for road salters, if they can shake wet salt loose I bet potash wouldn't be a problem and all it takes to run them is a 12v DC source.
I rent pole barn storage on an old farm by Stillwater Mn and the fields are planted to beans this year. The bean plants are short and some of the pods are nearly touching the ground.
Can’t believe the actor played by row 12 decided that he was actually going to follow the script today. So glad you got some fantastic support and the tiller is finally working as it should 😎
Little simple idea, for taking samples our elevator took a bucket from a small grain leg, hooked it to a broom handle, don’t have to reach under that way, save our old millennial backs😂
Hey Zach. Have you ever considered adding a vertical lifeline on your ladders? In the event of a slip or fall, a cage does not provide the immediate protection that a lifeline offers!
You'll have electric combines and other equipment in a couple years. All you'll have to do is install charge stations all over the farms. !! Save you a lot of money !!!
All those Hours of frustration because the Fertilzer truck had some moisture in the tank before they put Fertilizer in it. When they added it your Air Cart it coagulated and wouldn't begin to drop in the shoot. I think the Fertizer folks owe you a beer! Good Catch guys... Pretty cool contraption in the end.
That strip tiling with the fertilizer, that's a first for me. Wouldnt it be easier to just no till? That way all your organic matter is still there so there for less ftilizer. Thats how we do it in western Wisconsin.
You can't control the cost of fertilizer but you can control the amount you put on. I think the strip till is a great idea and will work much better once everything settles in.
What a great video!! You have some of the best companies helping you get things figured out and running. Can you tell yet if there is a yield difference between the two bean headers.
What you need is some small device inside the tanks that gently (or not so gently) cause some vibration to keep the products from clumping, regardless of moisture...we can speak about royalties later lol
Glad to see the Strip Tiller decided to play ball 👍 And very cool that you get that support from the dealers. Next year we’ll see the anhydrous in the back of it?
I'll bet it's a huge relief to have the strip tiller running the way it should.
After last year, whe he was close to snapping. I'm sure he is happy and relieved .
Jesse is one hell of a guy for sticking around in case anything went on the fritz. That’s service and a passion for people.
TO the support Dealers. THANK YOU for assisting Zach. YIPPIE FOR YOU Zach. May things continue to go well. You have earned this.
Amen, brother !!
It's always great to have a dealer who has employees dedicated who will stay on a job so they can sure everything is going right.
You were our family "Movie" tonight.
"There's a New Zach"! Is a common phrase when we open TH-cam.
Shout out to Red E, and Jesse ( or how ever he spells it )! True dedication to make sure it worked. Finally glad it’s working properly.
The co-op fertilizer auger needs a chunk of big hose extension, so they have some fudge factor for aiming for the air-cart tanks. To bridge the gaps.
I love at 4:34 that when the bike beeps “Hello” you and your dad’s hand both go up at the exact same time. 😂, keep the great work fellow Zach & Family
😂😂 good catch

What a relief it must be to have the tiller working pretty much 100%!! Praying it keeps doing its job for yall!!!
Thumbs up on the video for RedE helping you get that machine going in the field! Thumbs up for extra long video!!!
Soon as you said you’re getting the strip tiller out, I popped a bag of popcorn for the show.
Not a farmer but as an engineer I am happy you were able to get it working. Technology can be both a blessing and a curse.

Just a idea for the stuck product. Maybe try like a dump truck bed vibrator in or on the tank for when it gets stuck
Happy for you that the strip tiller is finally working as it should. Determination and a good tech always brings good results.
