I do that alot when I need to sit tight on a beat , any beat, this is very helpful!!! Five years late, but ultimately this is a mid-tempo 4/4 pop song with about as basic a rock beat you can think of. I’m sure you figured it out, but for most audiences just playing it four on the floor would be sufficient to get applause lol

Too much echo/reverb on the drums on this cover. Overly compressed sound. For this song the drums have to be tight and thin with a slight gate filter, not thick and washy. Basically, you used the wrong type of drums for this. Madonna had electric drums on the original song.

i'm not 100% sure, but i hear the hihat being only offbeat, and not 16th notes through the song... i might be wrong, but thats how i always felt it...
