    Yeah, being doing this several times, and can say you got lucky on the dead lipo cell....it was the one on the last corner of the pack. When its one of the midle ones...grrrrrr. And you made it look easy on the solder, cause soldering aluminum tabs is Impossible with just a simple iron and 60/40 solder even with normal flux added...Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks for watching. If it a cell in the middle is bad I will break it down, because giant 2s RX packs for 1/5 come in handy for me. pre heating lipos eventually kills the outer cells after so many cycles. Aluminum solder solves your issues with aluminum tabs.

    Looks good Jason.
    One of my least favorite steps is separating the lipos. Some companies use some strong adhesive, double sided, whatever. I have found a bit of Goo Gone between the pack and dead cell helps get them apart. Using an old credit card seems to help to minimize damaging the casing.

      Thanks for watching. Yes sir a credit card or something similar definitely helps separating cells that are glued together.

      Your awesome thank you just converted my Traxxas lipo to have balance plugs and taped up the battery but that looks way nicer the way you done it

    Can a battery have a bad cell and the resistance of all 4 cells be 1? It's an onyx 8000 4s and it won't balance one of the cells properly but the resistance is 1 in all 4 cells

    • @KiloWattRC
      @KiloWattRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if the resistance is consistent they should balance. I would just leave it on the charger till it balances, then discharge them to 3.5 volts a cell, then try to balance it again

      I'll try that thanks

      You are really knowledgeable. If you don't mind me asking will a dented cell cause my problem?

    • @KiloWattRC
      @KiloWattRC  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @charlesallen7712 no problem man. If a cell is physically damaged and resistance shows it good then u just have to keep monitoring the resistance closely. A small pinhole puncture will raise resistance slowly

      I have storage/balance cycled it idk how many times but it still reaches3.8 while the other 3 cells are at 3.89 and it lags by the same amount on the balance charge. Will it be safe to discharge it to 3.5 when there's that much of a difference and thanks again for time
