    Great vid, some useful information in there. Completely agree that a load cell is the first thing you should upgrade if your pedals don't have one. This will necessitate hard mounting your pedals. When buying a stand be aware that folding stands lack the rigidity of their fixed position counterparts. All the wheelstands I've used have some movement but it's not necessary to spend loads of money to get one that's sufficiently sturdy. Movement is bad as it makes it harder to feel the finer details of the ForceFeedback from the wheelbase. If you've got room/budget a Playseat Challenge or similar cockpit is foldable but has very good rigidity for it's price.

  • @angryginger791
    @angryginger791 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Personally, I'd put pedals above wheelbase on the list of upgrade priorities. A loadcell brake will (usually) have more impact on your performance than a wheelbase. Same goes for a cockpit or chassis. Having a solid base and good driving position will make a bigger difference than many people think. Of course, the wheelbase and rim are the things you see and feel the most so they usually get the most attention, but don't neglect the rest of the rig. New sim racers need to learn the difference between what will help performance, and what will help immersion. Often, high end stuff will be more immersive and pretty to look at, but won't perform any better than much more affordable options.

    2x4 DIY cockpits are the best bang/buck option. They're extremely sturdy, and very customizable. Remember to use criss braces though. The next best thing is square pipe steel, but that requires basic welding.

  • @bbcoltrane

    Load cell brakes are way better. Got the Ricmotech LC upgrade for my T3PA and noticed big improvement. Eventually upgrades to Fanetec CSL Elite and wow, even better! Keep an eye on the used market for deals.

  • @vatch07075
    @vatch07075 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great advice here, I wish you made this video about a year ago! LOL... Load Cell, hands down, best upgrade for the money to improve driving performance.

  • @oktc68
    @oktc68 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    A good alternative to the CSL Elite load cell pedals are the Thrustmaster T3PA + SimRacingSolutions load cell mod. You will need the bracket that comes with the conical rubber brake mod to. The load cell is about £90, there are other very similar ones for about £80 but the shipping times are longer. Even if you have to buy the T3PA pedals new (£100-£110) I still think this is better than buy the CSL Elite and here's why; You can also upgrade the gas pedal with an adjustable tensioner, BBJ Simracing's Adjustable Acc Spring Mod is simple to fit and under £30, you can't upgrade the CSL ELITE gas pedal easily, and it's about the same as the standard T3PA gas pedal. So for the same money as the CSL ELITE (if you can get them for the MRP and excluding the shipping costs) you can have a set of T3PA's with a load cell & gas pedal upgrade. If you can find a set of T-GT T3PA pedals, these have cast aluminium stems instead of the usual plastic ones and it's dead easy to fabricate your own case for them if you don't like the plastic original. With all these mods you'll have a set of pedals that cost roughly the same as the CSL Elite but with similar brake performance and better more accurate throttle response, in short they'll outperform the CSL Elite. A similar clutch upgrade is also available.

  • @Heldermaior
    @Heldermaior 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One option you should mention is the playseat challenge. It is very rigid for the price and even my CSW v2 feels nicer on it than a desk. It is also super compact and you get a proper racing position that is adjustable. For about 200 euro.

    • @Heldermaior

    • @Heldermaior
      @Heldermaior 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Brian Prior funny. I don't feel that much vibration even from a TS-PC or a CSW V2. The rigidity is what I like about this cockpit. That and the ease of storage!
