Happy New Year Miss Lori and Mr. Brown!!! Our family all love your show!!! Sorry about your fall though, that surely must have been a scary shock. Bless you Mrs. Lori. A couple months back, I fell as I was a entering my kitchen door returning from the market. I had been dealing from a long struggle trying to heal from a knee surgery that is taking much to long. When it was all said in done, 3 nites later Through the strength of God I was able to rise from the floor. Yup! Live alone. I thank The Almighty for my continued healing. Slow heal, but much better now.🙏🏽
@@chachab9239 Oh no. I’m so sorry to hear that you went through this. Please find a good friend to keep in contact with. Happy Birthday. Hope you get to feeling better, arthritis can be very painful. I have RA and the pain is always there but the flare-ups are really bad. Don't let it consume you keep staying active. When I was a cashier at Walmart a lady told me to try blueberries every day for my arthritis pain & carpal tunnel. I started about 1/4 cup blueberries every morning. Thinking it probably wouldn’t help but it sure wouldn’t hurt. After a few weeks I realized that my pain was gone. Delicious! The lacy cornbread is thrillingly new to me, and I'm not waiting a whole year to enjoy that. Many thanks, Lori.
Blackeye peas was my husband's favorite bean. He has passed away now and everytime blackeyes are mentioned, it reminds me of him. I guess each to their own. God Bless y'all.
When I got off ALL nightshade foods, sugar (lactose and fructose), and gluten, my pain in my body (hands, knees, back, etc.) lessened to the point where I felt like a new woman! I could move again, lift a set of heavy plates and even cut up 60 lbs of potatoes to dry can (for others to enjoy...they are a nightshade). I follow your channel religiously and know what you cook and eat. Food has to be our medicine. I will pray, pray, pray for you. The steroids will get you over this hump, then I hope you will seriously think about an anti-inflammatory menu for awhile. Steroids and pills are not a long term solution. You are such a precious woman. We want you to feel good again. PS, My husband can "get away" with a lot more nightshades and sugars than I can.
Anti-inflammatory diets are great. All my pain went away when I went on carnivore. It is a big change but doable. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Happy New year.
Amen , at 58 - Hypothyroidism, diabetes and my husband diabetic We stopped all sugar , carbs under 20 . Only been 1 month ,but it's a start God bless you Mrs josette Tharp Montgomery County, Texas 🙏 ❤
I love black-eyed peas. I usually use ham hocks and bacon but I have used smoked turkey wings also. Very interesting how black-eyed peas became the meal for the new years. Thank you for sharing your recipes Miss Lori. Keeping you in my prayers they find whats going on with your hands. 🙂❤️
It’s nice the way Mr Brown made the cypress piece to make the cabinet work for your new oven. I think you could paint the cabinet to help it fit in to your kitchen decor better. Thanks for showing how to make lacy cornbread, I had never heard of it. That soup you made looked so healthy, you are a fabulous cook!
I never thought of using black-eyed peas in soup. Thank you for the recipe! I hope they figure out which arthritis you are dealing with so that you can start treatment. You and Mr. Brown are special Thank you for sharing some of your life with us.
I'm so sorry you fell, and grateful it wasn't worse. Your black-eyed pea soup stew looks fantastic! Thank you for bringing us along with you. I'd never heard of lacy cornbread ❤! Take care, and that top you're wearing is very pretty 😍. All the best with your hands. Happy New Year!

That certainly looks like a big pot of goodness. That new oven is going to be a big help in the kitchen. I really regret not putting a double oven in our house when we built it. That cypress fit like a glove! When Mr. Brown gets it finished I know it will be perfect! Miss Lori, I’m so thankful you didn’t break any bones when you fell down the steps. I’m definitely keeping you in my prayers about your arthritis. God bless you both and Happy New Year. 🙏🏻 ❤
So sorry to hear you fell. We just don't bounce like we use too. But then again we didn't fall like that either. My husband was 90 the beginning of June. He fell coming out of the doctors office the end of Oct. Broke his femmer, has a rod and pins. Was told it was a very bad break. Of course age didn't help either. Had a few complications along the way. Hasn't walked since. He came home the Sat. before Thanksgiving and is in a hospital bed in the living room. But at least I have him with me. We have been married 53 years and is the love of my life and my best friend. It sure is hard at this point. I don't get around very well anymore either. But we do what we have to don't we? Take care, and watch those stairs!. Love watching everything you put out. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Happy New Year Ms Lori and Mr Brown! That meal looked fit for a king! Ms Lori, I already pray for you and Mr Brown, but I will start praying, specifically for the Lord to heal your hands and guide your specialists to know how best to help you. You're going to love your new oven! I believe all of us might benefit by having a wall oven as we retire and attempt to age in our homes. They're very user friendly and save a person's back. Ms. Lori, make sure to rest. You've had a busy holiday season and you're soon going back to work. May God bless you both and your family!
Sorry about your fall, take each step with care. Prayers for improvement of your hands and joints also. I know that pea soup was delicious. I could almost smell it. Enjoy this winter season. I hope we have several snowfalls this year here in southern Maryland. God bless. ❤🙏❄️
Happy New Year! blackeyed peas, a must staple all year long, besides opening the door at midnight to let the old year out and the New Year in! The peas are eaten on NY day.
Gosh, I hope you will not be too sore tomorrow. Falling that hard can be awful. Wishing you and your dear husband a blessed and Happy New Year!!! I have never eaten black eyed peas. (I am from Switzerland) we have different traditions of course, but I LOVE watching your channel. Especially LOVE your decor and fantastic kitchen!
Such a pretty Summerset pot. Everything looks so good. I cooked my black-eyed peas in the instant pot with smoked sausage served over rice. It was so good.
Ms Lori, I am so sorry you are having such trouble with your hands. I know exactly what you are going through. I have osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. I went to bed one night and I was fine, the next morning I woke up and I had pain like I had never had before. I pray the doctor can determine which arthritis you have and can give you a medication that will help you. You and Mr Brown are so special and loved by so many. God bless you in the coming year with good health and happiness. ❤
I'm so sorry to hear about your fall Hopefully, you mend quickly . The older we get its harder to mend. Thank God you didn't break anything. Love watching you cook and the recipes always look amazing. Thank you for sharing. God bless you and Mr. Brown and happy new year
Falling is rough… I passed out in November and landed on my face. The Good Lord protected me from any broken bones or teeth! I fell on asphalt. In the ER, I kept getting little pieces of asphalt out of my mouth😂😂😂 Pray you heal fast! Not a black eyed pea fan.. I don’t EVER cook them.. Love all other kinds of peas and dried beans, collards, and cornbread!! Please take care of yourself!
And I’d love to eat some of your cooking. Your bread, biscuits, cornbread yummmmmmy! Oh my goodness..I hope you’re not bruised too bad. Falling down at (67) is easy, getting up ain’t purdy 😂😂😂. We are blessed Miss Lori. I love black eyed pea soup… I like them as well as pinto beans. This is going to be a feast. Thank you & Mr Brown for including us in your daily life. You are both loved.. ❤
I sure hope you are feeling better Mrs. Lori. I took a fall this past year and boy did it hurt in the days after so I can totally relate. Your recipe looked very comforting and that corn bread delicious. The oven is Looking real nice so far. Great job Mr. Brown. I wish you both good health. 🤗🥰
What a delicious meal. I can't wait to try this. Thank you for sharing. Rest easy, so sorry for your fall. Glad your ok. Sending healing prayers to you. I'm excited to try Lacy cornbread. Hearty warm yummy meal. Warms our bellies for cold Michigan winters.
A mighty tasty looking meal. I hope you find some relief from the arthritis pain soon. I love to do needle work. Always feared losing my eyesight and not be able to sew, but at age 73 it seems my fingers may be getting arthritic so guess if it ain’t one thing it’s another. You take care on those steps!!
Ms Lori, I remember a few years ago when I found you, and you mentioned that you and Mr Brown were old, in a chat (video) one time. I was pretty shocked, you are a year younger than me, and I was thinking, why is this beautiful woman calling herself old already? My mom is 93, she would call us spring chickens still! I definitely don't have the energy I had at 30 now, being 61, but I'm so far from old, and so are you both. I wish you both a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2024. xx
Happy New Year Mrs. Lori and Mr Brown! I'm so sorry you took a fall Mrs. Lori! Hope you heal quickly. I just turned 70 in December. I too have arthritis and I have had a hip replacement. I have fallen a couple of times since my surgery. 😢 It's a real jolt to the body. I've noticed since I've gotten older that I really need to be aware of every step I take. I think maybe as we age we get just alittle off balance as time goes on. I seem to have just a tiny bit of vertigo.Your dinner looked really good and healthy!! May God grant you and Mr. Brown a happy healthy and prosperous 2024! God bless! Much love!
Oh Miss Lori!! As we get older we definitely have to be more careful. Thank the Lord you didn't get hurt bad. I Love watching you & Mr. Brown do videos & chatting with us. Thank you for all you teach us. ❤️❤️🙏🙏
I have never seen such a delicious bean soup concoction, thank you Miss Lori! So sorry you had a fall and burned hand on New Year's Day! Hope you are feeling better about that and, goodness, the worst is behind you now. Wishing you happy healthy propersous 2024
This all looks so good. I got myself some can black eyed peas, and can collard green’s, with my feet and legs swollen and having so much pain with them I was just sure I would be able to make myself a good New year’s dinner, but I was wrong, I couldn’t stand on my feet to do what I had hoped I could do. So I had to settle for a good ole bologna sandwich. lol , I am thankful that I was able to make what I did. I praise the Lord for everything I have and every step I am able to take. I saw on the weather channel that you are suppose to get cold weather , God bless ,Happy New year , stay healthy, I send my love.
Miss Lori Mr. Brown did a great job on the new oven you two are the sweetest I've eat a lot of those lacy cornbread cakes is so as black eyed peas God Bless you both
Miss Lori, I am so sorry that you took a fall to start the new year. The same thing happened to me last year except I landed on my face and broke my cheekbone under my eye. So glad that you are okay!
I hope and pray you didn't get hurt any worse than you said. It seems we get in a hurry without realizing it and that's when we end up falling and getting hurt. I'm sure glad Mr. Brown showed us what he's doing in the kitchen. I've been wondering ever since You said you were doing something, it's gonna like good. Happy New Year.
I thought i was the only southerner the wasn't crazy about black eyed peas 😂 I'm a purple hull pea lover. I uploaded our New year dinner video last night, if you see it you'll see I also added lots of flavors too. We did cabbage this year instead of collards because it was cheaper. Added cajun sausage in both the cabbage and peas. Made a big ole pan of homemade cornbread of course. I'm going to have to try this cornbread you've shown, looks like a good snack. I love trying new recipes. Happy New Year sister. We love yall! ❤

Thank you
Anti-inflammatory diets are great. All my pain went away when I went on carnivore. It is a big change but doable. Take care and I hope you feel better soon. Happy New year.

Thanks so much
I love black-eyed peas.

Bless your heart. Arthritis is so hard to deal with. It’s so painful. Hope you get some good Doctors and meds to help you. ❤
That is a beautiful pot of goodness!
Miss Lori thank you 💕 delicioso.

That stove will be wonderful great job Mr. Brown Ms Lori you did good!
God Bless you both, xoxoxo
Happy New Year Ms Lori and Mr Brown! That meal looked fit for a king! Ms Lori, I already pray for you and Mr Brown, but I will start praying, specifically for the Lord to heal your hands and guide your specialists to know how best to help you. You're going to love your new oven! I believe all of us might benefit by having a wall oven as we retire and attempt to age in our homes. They're very user friendly and save a person's back. Ms. Lori, make sure to rest. You've had a busy holiday season and you're soon going back to work. May God bless you both and your family!

You want to feel better, make a tea with basil, cloves, ginger, thyme, this will make you feel better an antiflamitory.
Thank you
Happy new year. God bless your retirement Mr. Brown, Mrs Lori you are almost there. Good luck on ducks.
Such a pretty Summerset pot. Everything looks so good. I cooked my black-eyed peas in the instant pot with smoked sausage served over rice. It was so good.
Sounds great!

I'm so sorry to hear about your fall
Hopefully, you mend quickly .

I wish you both a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2024. xx
Thank you
Happy New Year Mrs. God bless! Much love!
Thank you
In Ohio we eat pork roast & sauerkraut for luck on New Years.
I want to try your lacy cornbread. It looks delish!

Miss Lori, I am so sorry that you took a fall to start the new year. The same thing happened to me last year except I landed on my face and broke my cheekbone under my eye. So glad that you are okay!
Oh no!
I hope and pray you didn't get hurt any worse than you said. It seems we get in a hurry without realizing it and that's when we end up falling and getting hurt. I'm praying for you and your husband, and I wish you a happy birthday Miss Lori! God bless you and your family always! That pot of black eye peas and greens looks delicious! Happy new year! ❤️🙏

I do love black eyed peas but purple hull are my absolute favorite!
@@cherrywilliams5739 I think maybe I got burned out on black eyed peas as a kid. My mom and dad cooked them very often. When I grew up I starter gardening and fell in love with purple hull peas. To me they have more taste and they're so creamy. They'll always be my favorite.
I had about 30 family and friends Ober for black eye peas, cornbread, greens, and hog jowl. We to are in the beautiful Arkansas Ozarks. How could your year be any way but good when you start with God first, family, friends, and plots of foor. We are truly blessed
Big blessings too you and yours this coming year! We are blessed for sure.❤
Mr. Brown miss Lori is going to keep you busy now you will have your own oven to cook in. Lol. I try very hard not to fall I'm older than you two and I don't bounce any more. Miss Lori I pray you recoup from your fall. Please be careful!

Miss Lori, I wish you a blessed and wonderful birthday!! My mother was from Louisville Ky, but she only made black eyed peas a couple times when I was really young. She moved to Pittsburgh Pa when she was 16. I cannot wait to make you recipe and start our own traditions!
This looks delicious. Thanks for a great video. Hope you recover well from your fall too. Happy New Year to you and Mr. Brown.

Awesome job Miss Lory and Mr Brown can’t wait to see the finished cabinet sorry to hear you got hurt Miss Lory.. Duck hunting up north here wasn’t too good this year. I don’t hunt but my brother in law hunts geese and ducks and between the two he only got 6 usually he gets way more than that..I never heard the stories of the black eyed peas before
Great addition to your kitchen!
