Obstacle Activist Awesome. I have the King 1.5 coming in tomorrow. I want to see how they feel and move. Also, the 1.5 colors are a bit cooler. 😃 Thanks, again.
Nice review. I have had my King Mt 1.5's for a while and love them. Like many people, I have to get 1/2 size larger than normal shoe size for perfect fit. The insoles are glued in to keep them from slipping inside the shoe.
Nice, detailed review. Since I'm new to OCR, this might well be a good first shoe for me. Especially if prices are relatively low leading into the 2.0s coming out later this year.
Just ordered some superiors-are their any other brands that offer zero drop trail shoes? gonna try the superiors I ve been looking for a low arch/ neutral/ zero drop trail shoe that has some moderate cushion compared to a typical minimal shoe-if you have any info I would appreciate it-thanks.
I haven't run in them yet, but they look identical to the Reebok Spartan shoes of years past which had a lot of issues. I'm hoping these are different, but only time will tell. I'm looking to get in a pair in the next week or so and do some testing. I can say this, the previous Spartan shoes were the best draining shoes I ever wore so that's a major plus, but then fell apart in a single race and had blowouts everywhere. Let me know how you like em
@@obstacleactivist9741 Thanks for the info, hope these are better! My first race is in September so I won't know for a while. If they do blowout, at least they offer a 1 year warranty and will replace them.
Yeah that's a huge upset with craft making them now, much better warranty. Just make sure you're running and training in them before the race to see how they feel on your feet
How about the fit? Does the foot stay in place in technical terrain? I have the lone peak and it does not provide secure fit in technical terrain. Thank you in advance! Thanx for the video
For me, yes. Now the 1.5s slid around slightly more than the newer 2.0s that I currently run in on technical terrain. They improved everything on the 1.5s in the 2.0s. they're slightly more narrow and they improved/fixed the durability issue as well as added more drainage ports which is fantastic
Personally I have not used them in anything over 7 miles this year, but I'm also focusing on short course races this season so I haven't had the chance to run further than that in them
@@obstacleactivist9741 thanks for the feedback. For the price I cant go wrong. I will get them and report out how they do on longer races. Worst case I get the Superiors for next year.
@@obstacleactivist9741 Thanks I want to try these, but have wider feet in the toe area. This might just solve some problems. These look great for hiking as well as running/OCR.
If you have wide feet these will be perfect for you. They're currently ok sale right now too since the 2.0s will be coming out shortly sometime this fall
That's essentially the exact same thing as OCR haha. "The Altra King MT is made for runners who embrace mud, rocks and burly mountain climbs and has made its mark as the quintessential king of the mud"
Not sure why you're taking it so personally. Altras description of the shoe is essentially OCR minus the obstacles which I don't reference in the review whatsoever. They're even a Spartan race sponsor/vendor with a Spartan branded king shoe. Call it a mountain shoe, call it an OCR shoe, it means the same thing to me personally....grip, drainage, and technical terrain running.
@@TheREALMuad-dib Funny thing is, you’re wrong, they have a version of the shoe that is exactly the same, but with a “Spartan” design, which is an OCR.
YOU KEEP SHOWING ME WINS! This seems to be a great fit for me. Thanks!
Haha no problem! I HIGHLY recommend the new 2.0 king's. They fixed the durability issue and included extra drainage ports

Obstacle Activist Thank you again! The 1.5’s fit great - now on to training in them. Have a great week!
"These things (lugs) will eat and chew through any mud you throw at it." That one line may have just sold me on these shoes.
😂😂 hey it's true

Go to Altra's site and buy them directly.
I got mine for $ 84.00 but not my first color choice.
Look the same covered in mud.
I snagged mine for $85, you may be able to do the same
@@truthofviolence4137 Fair enough.
@@obstacleactivist9741 That's the goal :)
Have you tried the inov8 Graphine series? I love mudclaws. Ran multiple beasts in them and they still look new
Inov8 was my go-to brand and shoes before altra. That said, I have not yet worn the graphine series but have heard good things

Inov8 also makes a few zero drop trail shoes and low 3mm trail shoes
Any thoughts on the new RD Craft Pros? I just received a pair with their father's day bundle

@@obstacleactivist9741 can you recommend a zero drop shoe with the fit of s-lab sense?
I'd look into Merrell trail gloves
I love the shoes but have noticed my heal slipping a bit in the mud.
Oh wow really? Mike stick to everything haha
What type of distance or running have you done in the shoe? How did your feet feel?
I did some reading last night and a bunch of people complete beasts and ultras in the king mt with no issues.

WoW thank you
Would you recommend going one half size up, or just your normal size?
I personally wear my normal size since the wider toe box in Altras provide more room in general
They fit as expected in my experiences and are true to size

What does OCR mean?
Obstacle course racing
@@obstacleactivist9741 Thank you. Abbreviations can make life easier, but most of the time they don't.
