  • In part 5 of the motorcycle trailer built we are finally ready to roll. After weeks of trying to find replacement shocks I finally decide to just roll with the original shocks and see how it goes on an overnight.
My motorcycle trailer build has been an ongoing issue. At this point I might has well bough a new one or at least a recent one but I am sticking with my decision and seeing it through.
I finally get the trailer on the road and pull it for 60 miles and everything performed perfectly, I cant wait for the overnight to try this thing for real!

Chief, as an auto mechanic, myself, I would share with you that packing the trailer-put the heavy items over the axle in between the wheels. It'll ride more smoothly and you won't feel any kind of dragging from it. It won't bother your fuel efficiency, if at all! Doug

I have a Bushtec Turbo +2 trailer. I have about 100 pounds of cargo but removed the tongue cooler and rack. I find with 100-125 pounds of cargo the pressure should be around 42-45 PSI. I have a small hand pump similar to the one sold by Bushtec. It works great. My tires are absolutely perpendicular to the ground. I have the 20 year old shocks and they work great. Go for it and don’t worry. You have one of the very best tow behind trailers made. EDIT: Buy a tire pressure monitor with 3 sensors, one for each tire and the third for the suspension.

Thanks for the super helpful information as well as the words of encouragement. So far I love pulling this thing and cant wait to take it to Alaska. I'm going to look into the pressure sensors.

I really appreciate that, it means a lot. We have been working really hard to create content that people enjoy and it's nice to hear my friend.
Are you going to be in the John Day Area? If so, I highly recommend taking hwy 395 south into Burns. That's one of my favorite passes.
West of John Day is the painted hills, always a wonderful place. If you head east from there and south of Baker city is hwy 245 also known as the little dragon and can be seen on our Day 2 idaho trip.
we'll be in that are in july as well. Ride safe my friend

Me too! I added the yeti cooler which means I have to fabricate a new bracket to hold it. The cooler broke the tail lights on my bike because of a steep driveway in Redmond. I'm working on it, not that I've had it on the road as much as I have I would like to compartmentalize the interior as well as fix up the exterior

@@OldFriendsandNewRoads nice sounds like it's getting closer. Bummer about the light clearance issue on steep inclines. I'm sure tool find a good solution
