Super. My railroad is still about 25% Mantua/Tyco, and quite a few are celebrating their 50th birthday. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
I've got a Tyco Spirit of 76 C-430 (missing all the handrails) and the Tyco caboose. Mine is the presidential seal version. I tried to do a set of handrails but failed miserably. I've also got the Tyco/Mantua Spirit of 76 10 wheeler steam engine. Just don't have the complete set for either one. The Spirit of 1976 came in several different versions. One set is blue-white-red without the presidential seal. Mine is the red-white-blue version and same caboose. Tyco got into trouble with the presidential seal model and came out with other versions like you have with a "similar" presidential, just not the real presidential seal. Cheers from eastern TN
If there is ever a top ten list of models that belong in a model railroad hobby museum, the Tyco Spirit of 76 locomotive must be included. It’s a genuine classic! It’s what got millions of kids interested in the hobby.
I loved this video, the train set is nice, the track layout is awesome, the angles and views are great and the music kicks ass! I loved everything about this video. Keep doing what you're doing!
Iknow nothing about trains. What do you have to do to use another track with a different set? Do you need just a track, how is the train powered with the track? Thanks
@@michelleoverby5738 so with the track I'm using bachmann EZ track along with the original Tyco track that was featured in the train set and the reason why they are compatible it's because they both use code 100 rails meaning that they slot together easily. For the way how are the trains gain power it's buy a power pack controller that simply plugs right into a outlet in a wall which then a wire from the power pack plugs into the tracks by a specialized connector track piece, no batteries required
I had to answer this, New Haven is from southern New England, not New Jersey. It was absorbed into Penn Central in 1969. It ran from Boston, Mass to New York City
@@bigcstrainsthings6149 This set was made from 1974 through 1976. Yours is a 1975, because it has the metal weight with Mantua-Tyco stamped on the bottom, as well as the early Power Torque drive with the single flathead screw holding the bottom plate on.
so are they worth a lot to sell ? my neighbor died and i found a bunch of his old tyco trains and about 55 tracks with the gold tyco battery thing etc.
Hmm I think they do go up for good money but maybe it depends on the quality of the trains if they are still in good condition and shape. You can always look them up online and see the vast prices on the items. Some are worth more than others.
@@bigcstrainsthings6149 Actually, it's not. This one only has the partial seal - it's common. The rare ones have the "Seal Of The President Of The United States" lettering around the seal. I have one.
@@davydigger708 Your are exactly correct. Tyco got into trouble with using the Presidential Seal so the had to change the seal to the one he has here. I believe there are 4 versions of the C-140. I've got the one with the Presidential Seal. They're harder to find. Cheers - TN
I had this exact train set I got it in 1976 and I wish someone would upload the typo Spirit of 76 commercial the commercial would come on television and I would jump up and down and tell my mother and father this is what I want Santa Claus to bring me and I got it now I'm 55 years Young don't ask me what happened to that train set LOL 😅 LOL as always no disrespect intended New York City USA ❤🧡💛🤍🖤🤎💜💙💚

I remember getting that set. Thanks
I still have the train and cars, just not the track. Only thing I have from my Grandfather.
The blooper at the end of the video was hilarious 😂 😃
What a beautiful set , I love it!! Good luck in your new channel.... Good vibes !!!!

That is the seal of United States of America on the side.
The cars are 1967 Camaros and 69-70 American Motors AMX. The same ones are on my TYCO Union 76 Gas Station ⛽
That's nice, the cars in the set however are far from being Hot Wheels since they don't roll that much nor durable.
I love this video!
The model cars are American Motors AMX and Chevy Camaro

Damn that Long ago! I was thinking it was 1976 like 1776 america. Interesting history though 😉

@@w.rustylane5650 I believe the rare full Presidential Seal ones were only made in 1973.

Unfortunately I repainted it in Conrail.
